Pat McGrath Decadence Palette Pairing Ideas (x30)
In honor of Pat McGrath Decadence Mothership Palette recent restock, here are 30 different ways to pair it with other Pat McGrath quads and palettes. Readers will likely know by now that Decadence is one of my all-time favorite palettes, but it is an all-shimmer palette so it shines the most paired with other products you own. Thus, I’ve shared five different ways to get more out of the Decadence palette below.
Also, I still wholeheartedly recommend checking out the mini Eye Ecstasy palettes, which have some overlap with Decadence, and are less expensive (but equal in quality).
About This Series
Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.
You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

Bonus: My Decadence Looks
Here are 17 past looks I’ve shared using the Decadence palette, often paired with something else, but you can see even more color combination possibilities in action 🙂
This post is brilliant and very inspiring! Thank you Christine!!
Thank you! Saved a bunch to try!
Just a bit off topic but pertains to your application. Whatt brush do you use to color line your lower lash line? I never manage to do it as well as you do. Thank you.
Pencil brushes! There’s not one that I gravitate toward, but it’s an assortment from Sonia G., Wayne Goss, and Hakuhodo.
Thank you for this, Christine! Decadence doesn’t work for me on its own, and I’ve been too frazzled to figure out what to pair it with. I saved all of these for future reference. If I don’t have the partner palette, it means I have dupes in my collection.
It’s definitely the less cohesive – at least traditionally – since they’re all pretty high impact metallics, and they run a little darker, too.
Yes, it’s the darkness for me. I have really deep-set eyes and fair skin. I do love the metallics, though, and want to use them.
I love these pairing suggestions! Sometimes I get stuck creatively with my palettes and then I open up your newsletter and see a combination that speaks to me. Thanks Christine!
Woohoo!! 🙂
