Natasha Denona Aluminum (10M) Eyeshadow
Natasha Denona Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.08 oz.) comes in 66 shades with four distinct finishes (Matte, Duo-Chrome, Metallic, and Sparkling). According to the brand, the eyeshadow formula is supposed to have “full, rich and intense color that won’t fade out, be “long-lasting,” and smooth. The majority of the shimmery shades were very pigmented with a soft consistency that was something just right and other times a little prone to crumbling/loosening in the pan, while the mattes were smooth but quite powdery, which resulted it color that didn’t adhere to bare skin as readily. The texture of most shades is soft, blendable, and most of the shimmery shades I’ve tested applied well to bare skin. The wear was fairly consistent, but there was some variance from shade to shade (which didn’t seem related to finish). The wear has ranged from five to eight hours, depending on the shade. Primer helps with longevity, adding two to three hours to the shade’s no-primer wear time, but they seem like shorter-wearing eyeshadows compared to most powder formulas I’ve tried.
Check out my first review for more depth about the formula as well as a pricing breakdown for singles compared to palettes.
Aluminum (10M) is a bright silver with a metallic sheen. It had good color payoff with a really dense consistency that applies best with a firm, flat brush patted onto the skin. Ochre is stunning!
It is a pretty shade!
Christine, will you do a wrap-up/summary of all the shades when you are finished reviewing all of them individually?
I will be “reviewing” them as palettes at the end, but you can always click on the product itself, and you’ll see what the average rating is – like here: http://www.temptalia.com/product/natasha-denona-sparkling-eye-shadow
You’ll see it’s a B across all the Sparkling Eye Shadows! 🙂
Or you can sort by editor’s highest rated for Natasha Denona + Eyeshadow. Here’s a direct link: http://www.temptalia.com/swatches?t%5B%5D=12674&brand=14154&sorting=editor_desc
I really love these colors together. Bottled Green and Ochre are especially nice.
They do work well together 😀
These Natasha Denona shadows. Sigh :(.. Love at first sight 😀
Aww!
I’m sorry but for the price I’m going to need every shadow to be life changing!
Totally understand!
Even though the formula could be better, I think Emerald Green and Golden Aquamarine are really pretty, like how she has some more unique shades
Golden Aquamarine is a cool one!
I like Aluminum and Bottle Green, but already have some very similar colors.
Christine, these reviews are super-helpful to me, because I would have been tempted by the hype around these to at least sample my favorite colors for myself… and mostly ended up with poorer-performing versions of colors I already own. At this point my personal kit is pretty much bursting with colors and formulas that I love, lucky me, so something needs to be extraordinary to justify space for itself, but of course I want all the shiny new toys anyway, lol. What I need to do is start saving up and researching for what should eventually go into a professional kit.
Thank you so much, Fran 🙂
Money saved!
I noticed the great reviews on the sparkly shades. I held off on the palette but now I’m really thinking about making my own. These shades look stunning, especially terracotta.
That might be a good idea!
ND always leaves me vaguely disappointed. She seems to do the ‘easy’ shades well, but the unusual ones appear only average. They looked so promising, and then, poooof, not so much. It seems I always look for the MUFE dupe. The price incentive leans towards getting the mega palettes, but isn’t that an oxymoron? Because they are tres cher! Hard to see them as a ‘bargain’ at all. And some Megas have mega duds. I think she would do better with select your own, say 5 wells. IMO, Any young person who has ‘investment’ money for makeup ought to spring for the UD vault, rather than laying out for these. Though, you always manage to create some lovely looks.
I like the Artist Shadows better — just think they’re better across the board! I do like the shimmers in the range for application; they are pretty easy to work with, but the creasing is annoying.
The light greens are pretty! I already have Isla and Hot & Cold for two of these shades (Emerald Green and Terracotta) tho from ABH’s Self-Made palette.
Yay for dupes 🙂
Aluminum is quite nice. I love silvers.
It is intense!
I’m hearing so much about these lately! The color pay off is great but the crumbly, overly soft formula reminds me a bit of the MUG Foiled shadows which have poor wear time too compared to most powder eye shadows.
Yes, they remind me of the Foiled eyeshadows as well, but I would say these are even softer in a way, like they’re looser?
Bottle Green and Ochre are both gorgeous! I really like Aluminum too, because it’s a “warmer” silver. Funny thing is that having UD Protest gives me a dupe for Bottle Green, but I’m going to have to scrounge around to find a dupe for Ochre. Must be one somewhere amongst my tonnage of warm neutrals!
I hope you can find a dupe for Ochre, Nancy!
Just love those Bottle Green and Emerald green colours – so pretty.
Me too! They’re always nice for the outer corner/crease.
Not sure about application and longevity but Golden Aquamarine, #86, is a stunning color. I have tons if bronze and gold but no greens like that.
Terracotta and aquamarine would be a pretty combination!
Agreed!
