Stripped
Stripped is a soft beige with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. This shade is part of the permanent range. It had good color coverage, though it wasn’t opaque, and the milkier quality of the color and gloss resulted in some product in my lip lines. It wasn’t as obvious from a normal viewing distance, though, and it is quite common in lighter shades like this to see some settling (one day, we’ll get there!). The gloss was lightweight, smooth and creamy without being tacky. It wore well for three and a half hours and was lightly moisturizing over time.

Formula Overview
$26.00/0.2 oz. - $130.00 Per Ounce
It's supposed to be a hybrid between lipstick and lipgloss that is hydrating, richly pigmented, and comfortable to wear. They have stronger color payoff, a non-tacky consistency, and a smoothness to their consistency that is a lot like a good lipstick, while they have a plusher, thicker texture that gives lips a plumper, fuller look along with a glossy sheen that is more like a gloss.
Some of the lighter shades settled into lip lines, but it varied from shade to shade. The wear varied between three and five hours for me, which is more like a gloss than a lipstick. They develop a more “velvety” finish, which is code for “less shine” after two to three hours, and at that point, they tend to look more like a natural finish lipstick than a gloss.
I would classify the formula more as a pigmented gloss than a glossy lipstick, if I had to put it firmly in one box. The formula has a vanilla scent but had no discernible taste to me.

Cozumel
Cozumel is a soft, medium pink with warm undertones and a cream finish. It was lightly glossy but not as shiny as a true gloss formula. The texture was lightweight, creamy, and smooth, which made it comfortable to wear and easy to spread across my lips. I like the Velvet Lip Glide formula a lot, as it tends to de-emphasize my lip lines, which is something that glosses don’t always excel at. It had good pigmentation and lasted for four hours on me, while the formula felt lightly hydrating over time.

Cozumel
LELimited Edition. $26.00.
Antigua
Antigua is a light-medium, rosy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had rich color coverage with a smooth, fluid consistency that was thin but not watery. It applied evenly but as it dried down, it sank a bit into my lip lines so that it emphasized my lip lines (particularly on my lower lip) after a few minutes. The liquid lipstick was comfortable to wear but was a touch tacky and had a bit of transfer but did not lift up color if I pressed my lips together. It wore well for five hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Formula Overview
$26.00/0.18 oz. - $144.44 Per Ounce
The new formula is described as “liquefied pigments with infinite matte color saturation for lasting, weightless wear.” It’s supposed to have “full coverage in one swipe” that “dries down instantly” for “smudge-resistant, carefree wear.” The formula has a very fluid consistency that is thin, smooth, but not at all watery, and the majority of shades were nearly opaque or opaque in a single layer.
The dry down started quickly but was forgiving as I maneuvered around the edges of the lips but remained a bit tacky when I pressed my lips together for over a half hour later, though as long as I did not press my lips together until five minutes post-application, the color did not lift. I have found the wear to be comfortable so far–non-drying–but not the longest-wearing nor the most budge-proof in liquid lipstick, as just sipping water, tea, or coffee caused color to transfer onto my cups.
There was plenty of coverage, so it still lasted through drinking but did start to break down noticeably during a meal. Even just touching the color after a half hour of wearing it yielded color on my fingertips. The formula had a soft, vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

American Woman
American Woman is a medium-dark, rosy mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It’s part of the permanent range, and the included shade in the set is of the same color and quality–richly pigmented, a very fluid (almost too fluid) consistency, and a flattering dry down. It lasted for five hours but wasn’t transfer-proof (I’d go as far as to say transfer-resistant–hardly any was visible on a glass, but if I blotted, I’d see more) and was non-drying.

Great colors! I know you said it settles into lip lines some, but Stripped looks like it sits on the lips better than Bite’s Vanilla Latte (though the latter’s color is everything to me, so I’m not sorry I got it).
Thank you for your review, Christine. I quite like this collection!
No problem, Jo!
This is a lovely set! I even like Stripped.
Yay!!
It’s a great bargain and these sets are a good idea if these shades work on you.
American Woman is my favorite, of course. Never met a dusty mauve lipstick I didn’t love!! That is why I have four of the dupes! Of the four that I have I think the ABH lippie is the one I use the most simply because it works best with a balm either over or under, without balling up or giving me that nasty bu++ ring around the mouth and I can’t wear the liquid lippies without balm so not going to pick up another one.
I almost bought this at the Nordstrom’s sale, but I went with the second set instead. I love the Velvet Lip Glides (wearing one right now!), but the Powermattes are just too dry. I wonder if there’s a gloss or balm that I could put over it…anyone have suggestions?
I think a little balm patted on the center might help, but I’d just opt for a thicker, less slippery/oily-feeling balm so it plays better with the underlying product.
