Marc Jacobs Beauty (Grape)vine Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner ($24.00 for 0.0038 oz.) is a deep purple with subtle,c ool undertones and a cream finish. It had good color coverage in a single layer, which was buildable to opaque coverage with a second layer. I found that it appeared more opaque when I used it on my lower lash line but needed a second layer on my lower water line. The product applied well to my lower lash line and upper and lower water lines. The texture was smooth, creamy, and a bit wet compared to most of the shades in the range that I have tried. It stayed on well for over 12 hours on my lower lash line and was still mostly intact on my water line after 12 hours as well (but slight wear was visible).

Marc Jacobs Beauty (Dove)affair Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner ($24.00 for 0.0038 oz.) is a soft, grayish-taupe with subtle, cool undertones and a cream finish–not quite flat matte but not shimmery. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, while the eyeliner had a smooth, creamy consistency that glided easily across my lash line and water line without tugging. It applied well to both my lower lash line and water line, but it didn’t adhere as well to my upper water line (which is a trouble spot for me, generally). It wore well for 12 hours on my lower lash line and nine and a half hours on my water line before thinning/fading noticeably.

It had nearly opaque color coverage in one pass, which adhered well to my lower lash line and water lines. The consistency was smooth, creamy without being too slippery, and comfortable to apply to my lash line and water lines. It lasted beautifully on my lower lash line for over 12 hours with minimal (I could barely tell, hunting for signs of wear!) wear on my lower lash line and was slightly faded on my lower water line.

I don’t believe I have close dupes for any of these and I want them. I might have a purple kinda similar, but definitely not the Dove or Steel.
I love that all of these are cool-toned and that they wear so well. The grape one looks a bit patchy but still performs better than all the dupes. Definitely my color– they all are.
Despite the painfully scanty amount of product, I am a bit enamored with (Dove) Affair. I will still likely pass it up for something similar, darker and that does contain a reasonable amount of liner.
Probably will go for a full-sized (Grape) vine at some point, though. Because purple.
If you don’t need the fine tip, you might find the regular Highliner for Grapevine is good! They are pretty much the same shade.
Dove and Steel are not really the kind of shades I think would be popular as a crayon eye liner – too pale and muted. The grape shade is lovely though.
I like the Skinny (Grape)vine shade more than the regular Highliner in the same shade, as it seems darker. I’m a bit worried though that it might transfer because you mentioned it is a bit wet compared to the other shades (I use the eyeliner only on my upper lid).
Clearly, Dove…three dupes in your majors. And mjb is not kjh friendly. Waterlines gone in three blinks, and lashlines not much better. Ever hopeful, might try Steel.
(Dove) Affair is so pretty and so unique; I will definitely get it 🙂 Thinking about Steel(etto) as well because I know I don’t have anything like it and it looks like a great spring/summer kind of colour.
I’m thinking Steel(etto) will be the one. I’ll probably get MAC Midnight Snack instead of Dove(Affair). I do really like all three a lot, but I do have Grape(wine) highliner so I don’t really need another so similar.

I’m interested in both of these — good unique colors (as far as my stash is concerned). In both cases, most of what draws me is how light they are compared to standard liners. One me they’d show up well compared to my skin, but they’d be a lot more subtle and interesting around the eyes than liners with (more standard) deeper colors.
