Plain Jane
Makeup Geek Plain Jane Plush Lip Matte ($12.00 for 0.06 fl. oz.) is medium-dark plum with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation with a very creamy, velvet texture that spread easily across the skin, but the formula did not feel properly mixed as there was some graininess to it as well. The color sank noticeably into my lip lines after I applied it, unfortunately, and it worsened over time. This shade wore for five hours, left a pinkish stain behind, and my lips felt raw after wearing it.
The formula is supposed to be a “cross between a cream and a mousse” that is “highly pigmented” with a “soft matte” finish. The consistency has an incredibly velvety, creamy feel without being slippery or wet, so it felt very smooth going on the lips and lightweight. I liked the way it felt on the lips for an hour or so of wear, but after testing about half of the range, they did not wear down well with an uneven fade and significant color in lip lines. While traditional liquid lipstick can dry and look “cracked,” I noticed that despite feeling quite forgiving, the finish often was not as lip color settled into and separated away from lip lines. The formula wasn’t designed to dry down to a flat, matte finish, and it does not, so the transfer was similar to that of a traditional, satin-finished tube lipstick for me. On me, the liquid lipsticks have lasted between four and six hours on me. They seem mostly non-drying on but seemed more drying as I wore them, particularly if I wore two in a row, which would leave my lips feeling raw. Just a heads up, each tube contains a surprisingly small amount of product (0.06 fl. oz.) relative to a lot of popular liquid lipstick formulas (Kat Von D contains 0.22 fl. oz., Anastasia contains 0.11 fl. oz., Smashbox contains 0.13 fl. oz., Stila contains 0.10 fl. oz., MAC contains 0.17 fl. oz.).

Boss Lady
Makeup Geek Boss Lady Plush Lip Matte ($12.00 for 0.06 fl. oz.) is a deep red with a hint of plum paired with a semi-matte finish. It had good color coverage with a lightweight, velvety texture that wasn’t too thick or too thin, so it spread well and did not sink into my lip lines as much as other shades in the range. There was slight separation of the color at my lip lines, which became truly noticeable after three hours of wear. The lipstick wore for five and a half hours, left a pink stain behind, and was somewhat drying.

Beauty Queen
Makeup Geek Beauty Queen Plush Lip Matte ($12.00 for 0.06 fl. oz.) is a bright, medium-dark red with neutral-to-warm undertones and a satin finish. The texture was light-medium in thickness and felt velvety going on, so it spread well and yielded even, semi-opaque coverage. The color didn’t seem to gather in my lip lines or appeart “cracked” like it has with other shades in the range. On me, it wore well for six hours, left a stain behind, and was drying.

I don’t need any more reds, but they sure are gorgeous to look at !
So true 😀
Nice colors, bad formula 🙁 I’ll stick with lip friendly choices!
I’m SO bummed about the formula on these!
I really like Plain Jane and Boss Lady. Not sure about the formula working for me but will probably pick up a couple and try them out. I can always add a balm over or under to make more wearable for my lips!
Keep me posted on how this formula works for you, Deborah!
Boss Lady is a really pretty color.
It is!
Plain Jane and Boss Lady both *look* fabulous, but sound like some serious lip torture. Which makes me glad to already own (and LOVE) Chanel Rouge Vie. A shade that always earns compliments!
It is really a sad shame that these are so severely drying to the point of causing rawness. That plus the teensy amount have turned me off to these Plush Lip Mattes competely.
I’m really baffled by how they feel as soon as I remove one!
All three are quite pretty and look very nice on you. However, my first thought was that the tube looked on the small side and then I read your comment. Not such a great deal considering the quality and content of other economical liquid lipsticks such as Colourpop. I think I’ll pass on these.
They are oddly small! I was surprised when I first saw them.
