MAC x Steve J. & Yoni P. Yoni Attraction Lip & Cheek Colour Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Yoni Attraction
MAC Yoni Attraction Lip & Cheek Colour Palette ($40.00 for 0.21 oz.) includes five Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colours and one lipstick (Show Orchid). All six shades have been released before, and all of them are available as individual products in the permanent range. The Casual Colour formula is supposed to be “lightweight” with a “creamy and comfortable texture” that is hydrating on cheeks and lips. I like the Casual Colour formula as a cream blush–blendable, pigmented, long-wearing–but not so much as a lip color as they feel slightly clingy and are on the drying side over time.
The Steve J. and Yoni P. Collection will be available in select stores and online on June 1st.

Lazy Sunday
Lazy Sunday is a pale pink with cool, blue undertones with a natural sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that applied evenly on the cheeks but was more prone to slipping into my lip lines when applied as a lip color. The product was creamy without being too thin or too thick, spread well over my skin and lips, and blended out nicely. As a blush, it wore well for seven hours, and as a lip color, it lasted for three hours but was slightly drying as it clung to lips after an hour of wear.

Keep It Loose
Keep It Loose is a light-medium peach with a hint of pink and a natural sheen. As a blush, it had semi-opaque, blendable coverage that I felt I could control so getting sheerer coverage and building up was as easy as applying a “normal” amount and blending it out. As a lip color, it had good color coverage that went on fairly evenly with slight color pulling into my lip lines, but for the overall lightness of the shade, it was not bad. The texture was lightweight, creamy with moderate slip but not greasy or oily in feel, and blended across the skin and lips easily. It wore well for seven hours as a blush and three hours as a lip color but was a bit drying on my lips.

Young at Heart
Young at Heart is a bright, medium pink with cool, blue undertones and a natural sheen. It had rich color payoff that applied evenly and easily to bare skin, as it blended out well and did not disturb base products (unless more vigorously blended in, which was unnecessary). The consistency was creamy and emollient but not slippery. As a cheek color, it wore well for seven and a half hours, and as a lip color, it lasted for four and a half hours and was a touch drying.

Secret Admirer
Secret Admirer is a bright, medium coral-red with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It was richly pigmented where a little went a long way, especially as a blush (just a dab will do ya!). It had nearly opaque coverage on the lips, and both on the lips and cheeks, the product applied evenly and blended out well. On me, it lasted well for seven and a half hours as a blush and four and a half hours as a lip color, which felt non-drying.

Show Orchid (Steve J. & Yoni. P)
Show Orchid (Steve J. & Yoni P.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and fine, iridescent pink and fuchsia pearl. It was the only shade in the palette labeled as a lipstick, and the format of it seemed to make it less shimmery or less noticeably shimmery–to my eye, the shimmer seemed finer and less plentiful. The resulting finish was more of a soft pearl rather than frosted (see additional versions here). It was also considerably lighter and less intense. The formula in the palette seemed to have more slip and felt creamier, and it did work out applying it as a blush as a result, since it was easier to blend out and the shimmer sat better on the skin. It wore well for four and a half hours on my lips and was non-drying, while it stayed on for seven hours as a blush.

Formula Overview
$19.00/0.1 oz. - $190.00 Per Ounce
MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.
Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.
The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Weekend Getaway
Weekend Getaway is a brighter, medium pink with subtle, warmer undertones and a natural sheen. It’s quite pigmented where a little went a long way as a blush and a more moderate amount as a lip color. As a blush, it spread easily across the skin, including over base products, and blended out with little work. As a lip color, it applied evenly and did not cling as much as I expected and retained some shine for a couple of hours. It wore well for seven and a half hours as a cheek color and four hours as a lip color (and was not drying).

Nice mix and good value if you are into Casual Cream Colors!
Very true!
This is a really pretty collection; I think Secret Admirer and Weekend Getaway are my favorites. I don’t understand why MAC uses old shades in so many of their new collections, though??
I’m not sure!
Oh nooo!!! I shouldn’t have looked! Made up my mind to get no more than 3 items from this collection. Picked which ones already, too. Then I saw THIS. It performs so much better than I was expecting! And that packaging is CUTENESS OVERLOAD! ?
Aww! Maybe you have dupes?
I like the shades! But I suck with creams, haha!
Well, there’s some money saved 😉
This doesn’t appeal to me, even though the colours are quite lovely. I’m not fond of lip/blush combo products. I actually prefere powder blushes, as they last longer on my skin. I also find the products, at least the ones I’ve tried a bit drying on the lips.
Yeah, it’s hard to make a great product for cheeks and lips 🙁
I hate how much I love this . . . I really don’t want to buy from Mac anymore because they aren’t cruelty free. Well, if it makes it to their sale section in a few months, maybe I’ll pick it up, but I won’t pay full price.
Are there other brands that you do buy from that have a similar formula instead?
I’ll have to look into it, I’ve never tried the Casual Color formula. I’m thinking the Stila Convertible Colors might be a formula dupe, but I haven’t tried those either
Show Orchid is so pretty. Seems like a decent value too.
It is!
