Opal Beach

MAC Opal Beach Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($25.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a light, peachy gold with warm, golden pearl. It had medium coverage that didn’t build beyond semi-opaque coverage. The texture was thin, balm-like, and comfortable to wear, though it emphasized every imperfection on my lips and pulled into lip lines immediately and only worsened over time. It lasted for three hours on me (not at all close to the six hours promised!).

Formula Overview

$25.00/0.14 oz. - $178.57 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have buildable coverage with "long-term hydration" that helps to "blur lip lines" and lasts for "[six] hours."T he formula has MAC’s signature vanilla scent but no discernible taste. The majority of the shades I’ve tested in this formula have semi-opaque to opaque coverage, last three to six hours, are hydrating, and feel comfortable to wear. Some are quite pigmented, while others are truer to the buildable coverage claim. There were some shades that seemed to smooth out my lip lines but a few emphasized them or settled into them noticeably.

Sunset Pearl

MAC Sunset Pearl Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($25.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark peachy brown with warm undertones and barely-there, gold pearl. The consistency was lightweight, balm-like as it had some slip but didn’t feel heavy like a true cream finish, and was comfortable to wear, though it didn’t seem to blur my lip lines. It had medium pigmentation that was buildable to mostly opaque coverage. This shade stayed on well for five hours and was hydrating over time.

Rolling Red

MAC Rolling Red Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($25.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a slightly muted, medium-dark red with subtle, cool undertones and a soft, pearly sheen. It had medium coverage that was buildable to semi-opaque pigmentation. The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy without being too thick or too heavy on the lips, and while it glided on without tugging, it seemed to adhere well to the lips for better wear. On me, it wore well for five and a half hours and was hydrating.

That red shade is pretty; but, I just got Russian Red from MAC. I am super-duper fair-skinned (with yellow undertones). I usually go for berries or wine. But, Russian Red seems to work. It’s interesting how these celebrity collabs with MAC as of late have been graded. Perhaps they should have done a sequel to the Snow Ball collection, as it proved to be tremendously popular (and a lot of people missed out on what they wanted). I was lucky to score Elle Belle, which is a deep, pink-reddish wine on me.

Okay. So I just fell in love with a lipstick? And a Mineralize at that? Sunset Pearl is absolute perfection to me! It’s that perfect shade for days when, I swear, I have no idea what to wear on my lips. Up until now, MAC Ultimate Lipstick in Marque was THAT shade. And it will continue to be, but sometimes I do want something deeper and with more color to it!

I’ve ordered Sunset Pearl. I have (MAC) dupes for the other 2. I’m not crazy about the Mineralize Rich Lipstick formula – it’s fine, hydrating and all but I prefer a little more grab or cling on the lips – but I didn’t have any dupes for Sunset Pearl. I am not sure how I’ll do with a brown lip so for that reason, I’m okay with the formula (I don’t want intense pigmentation with a brown) but it typically is a pass for me.
