Winifred

MAC Winifred Lipstick ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark purple with warm, pink undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which was a bit buildable but never built up to full coverage. The lipstick had moderate slip going on, though it did not feel slippery while worn, and did not apply as evenly as it should have. The lipstick wore well for four and a half hours but color settled into my lip lines noticeably over time.

Formula Overview

$18.50/0.1 oz. - $185.00 Per Ounce

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying. Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying. The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Midnight Breeze

MAC Midnight Breeze Lipstick ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep purple with subtle, warm undertones and fine, multi-colored pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and didn’t seem to get into my lip lines noticeably but could have applied just a bit more evenly. The texture was smooth, lightweight, and had enough slip that it did not tug or feel clingy on. It lasted for six hours, left a stain behind, and was non-drying.

Powerhouse

MAC Powerhouse Lipstick ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep, purpled burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. The pigmentation was nearly opaque with a lightweight, velvety texture that applied easily across the lips and did not tug, but there was enough slip where I felt like it didn’t adhere as well to my inner lip area. It wore well for over six hours, left a stain behind, and was slightly drying.

Damn, dark lippies are my weakness. MAC is tempting me really hard with this new vampy shades collection. Like, I want them all, that’s the spirit. They’re ranking really well with you too!

But I promised myself not to buy lipsticks that are too close to ones that I already own, so…..my only hope is that by swatching them in store I’ll find one that really surprises me with its colour and that isn’t too similar to what I own.

Oh man, these are right up my alley! Have enough dupes for Winifred that it’s actually downright embarrassing. Vexed trying to decide whether to go for Midnight Breeze since I only have until end of December to buy Bite Berry Rouge, because I doubt that I’ll be Rouge next year. Leaving just Powerhouse….hmmm. 🤔

Hi Christine! Do you think, the shade Winifred is a dupe for bite beauty’s Taro shade that was LE.. I lost mine and Is unavailable on sephora US.. so I’m really lookin for dupes..
