Marc Jacobs Blacquer/Ody(sea) Highliners, Anastasia Dipbrow in Ebony, Nirvana Black Dry Shampoo x4, Pat McGrath LuxeTrance Lipsticks x11 (PMG PR sent me 6 more shades, so I picked up what I didn’t have that was still in stock, but I won’t have the whole line).

Weekend plans: How about current events? Some of you may have noticed I have not posted here in almost a month (I’ve been buying, but not posting). My job has become increasingly more unmanageable, to the point where I have not been able to take breaks or eat lunch, and I am frequently at work anywhere between 10-13 hours a day. I have been working approximately 45-55 hours a week for three years, and they just keep adding more responsibility. I have gone to management several times and they have not made any meaningful changes. I started interviewing for other jobs approximately 9 weeks ago. Between my crazy long hours and the stress of interviewing, I have been unable to post any hauls (and honestly, with the stress, I haven’t had the heart to discuss cosmetics either). The good news is, I had three interviews this week and I am super hopeful that I will get a job offer in the next two weeks, if not for all of them at least for one of them. One of the positions is a licensed clinical social worker working in the field with palliative care clients, which is one of my bucket-list jobs. I’ve really got my heart set on that one! So hopefully I will be sharing good news with my fellow Temptalia readers very soon.

Favorite holiday: I cannot choose between my birthday, Thanksgiving or Christmas!

Deborah S. Avatar

Oh, I sure hope the job works out for you. I think palliative care is so important and I know a dedicated social worker would make all the difference in the world. I know that you love being a social worker and that you and your peers have been together for a while. It makes contemplating taking a new position difficult but you have to think of your health also. One thing I learned from nursing administration, they will keep piling on until there is complete turn over of staff and then the new people don’t know that was never the amount of work they should have accepted. I was working night shift on an oncology unit back in the 70’s. The unit was 24 beds and was staffed on night shift with one RN and two CNA’s. I worked 10 hour shifts and was suppose to only work 4 days a week but there wasn’t anyone to relieve me so I frequently worked 6 days and a dayshift nurse would pick up a night shift so I could have one night off. I had to mix all of my own chemotherapy. This was back in the days before Laminar Hoods and before pharmacists mixed chemo. We also mixed all of our own antibiotics. If you weren’t getting chemo, antibiotics or pain medication you didn’t see the nurse all night except a rounds check to make sure everyone was still breathing. There just isn’t any way an RN can care for 24 patients. I kept asking for help and nothing. After almost 2 years something traumatic and preventable happened and I couldn’t take it so I quit without another job lined up. I didn’t have trouble finding work, luckily. After I left a friend told me they hired four RN’s to fill the night shift slots. It was a real learning experience for me.
I will keep praying you get the job but seriously they would be stupid not to hire you. Your knowledge, dedication and perseverance alone should make you a shoe in.

Tammy Avatar

Deborah, Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I often feel like one does when they’re in an abusive relationship. I sometimes think this isn’t really happening or I search for ways to take responsibility for the problem. It’s been rough the entire three years, but it has gotten progressively worse, so now it is beyond what I thought possible two years ago, or last year, or even just a month ago. They took one of our social workers to a different unit for seven weeks because the other unit was down a social worker. It was seven weeks of hell. Now that she’s back, everyone has all their vacations starting, so we’re still down a social worker almost every day until January. I have had three horrible weeks at work, with Tuesday and Friday of this week being the worst. Recently they’ve been asking us to file court paperwork at the court house, because our hospital courier has been refusing to do the way they used to do it, and we can’t get our petitions for involuntary hospitalization and court-enforced medications to the court house in a timely manner. I got in trouble yesterday, after working a 10 hour day, for not filing court paperwork before the close of day. I don’t know what else I could have done. Stay 11 hours? Cancel one of my discharges or family therapy sessions? I really am at a loss.

At any rate, I am in that state of mind where my thoughts have turned into a battle field. Every minute since 5 p.m. yesterday I have been trying to practice mindfulness and relaxation techniques to calm my mind. I am sick with the stress of the situation. I haven’t been able to get a full night’s sleep for a week.

I appreciate your sharing because it reminds me that I am not alone and there will come a day when my job will not be like this.

AB Avatar

Good luck with interviews! I know how it goes in those buried/no hope for a way out/time to leave situation and it can get really debilitating in terms of energy drain. Great you are moving forward, and good luck.

Tammy B Avatar

You hit the nail on the head, AB. I am feeling hopeless and this situation is debilitating?. I can’t believe how emotionally difficult this has become.

ShariP Avatar

Tammy, I’m praying you get the job of your choice. I understand all too well working years of overtime. I work in a narrow field in healthcare and its nothing for me and my experienced peers to have weekly job offers; there is a national shortage in my field. After several years of overtime I told my boss I was planning on accepting the most recent offer. She panicked and called our administrators who finally realized I was done. They asked me to let them counter offer and what my terms were. That was two years ago. I now have an assistant and work from home a couple days a week. They met All of my terms. All that to say, YOU have to take care of yourself and do what is best for your well-being and family…sometimes even your sanity. If your employer knows you’ll keep taking everything they put on you, they will keep doing it. Fortunately, I have a direct supervisor who cares. Not everyone does. I wish you the best.

Katherine T. Avatar

Tammy, good luck on your interviews -hope you find something better quickly. It’s very sad but true–in the name of saving money, too many companies refuse to hire an adequate number of people and will keep dumping work on top of employees until they get sick, burn out, leave and/or make some serious mistake and get fired. You’re right, it is like an abusive relationship, and it’s time to get out.

Haul: Nothing yet, but I’m waiting for a few things to be delivered next week. My no-buy is going so well (eye roll).

Weekend plans: Taking advantage of Macy’s special Sunday beauty and fragrance sale ($10 off when you spend $50). Plus laundry, grocery shopping, and other equally exciting chores.

What’s your favorite holiday?: Christmas. I wish it wasn’t so much about shopping, though.

Ginny Avatar

HAUL: Two more of the Wet n Wild fantasy paint palettes, Brights and Pastels. I think I shouldn’t have gotten the pastels on second thought…. I don’t think I’ll use it much. But the brights I’m excited to use on cheeks and eyes. I really like the Natural one I already bought and have used it a lot this past month.

WEEKEND: Sushi tonight, girls night tomorrow.

FAVORITE HOLIDAY: Probably Thanksgiving. All the good food without the pressure of gifts, and a built-in 4 day weekend.

Joan Avatar

Haul: I normally only say if something comes home that it was hauled. So nothing this week, but based on my order this morning…next week is gonna be strong.
Weekend plans: Tonight Thor, tomorrow I have no idea and Sunday I am hoping to get some major cleaning done.
What’s your favorite holiday?: Halloween, followed by Christmas…I basically love August to January!

Samantha Avatar

VIB ROUGE Haul: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 2, Estee Lauder Repair + Renew Advanced Night Repair Set, Kat Von D Mini Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Set, Stile Eye for Elegance Liquid Eye Shadow Set, Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil, Sunday Riley Flora Hydroactive Celluar Face Oil, Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil, Fenty Match Stix Trio in Light 100, Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation in Milkshake 100B, and Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. All skincare items are repeats (that I only buy during Sephora sales).
Weekend plans: My husband and I are going to a local arts show with a craft beer garden.
What’s your favorite holiday?: Christmas

Alice Avatar

Haul: Urban Decay Nagel vice lip palette in Rio. Batwing shrug and bat lace table runner from Spirit since everything was on sale Nov 1st 🙂

Weekend plans: I’m sick so probably nothing but watching Justified on amazon streaming with the cats. We’re invited to a party on Saturday but if I’m not feeling any better Barry will go without me.

Favorite Holiday: Samhain, harvest festival, Thanksgiving. (can u tell autumn on the farm was my favorite time of year lol)

Erin Avatar

Haul: I got Mauvember liquid from Bite and I had like 500 points so I got some little 100 point things to make it feel like a bigger haul, lol. I need to get my head straight on VIBR sale planning, so if anyone is reading this help me out:

VIBR Sale Planning: So I’m considering forgoing a lot of products I normally stock up on for The Ordinary ‘dupes’ and would like some feedback on what you guys have thought or compared. I’m looking to replace Sunday Riley Good Genes and Luna, Drunk Elephant C Firma and Marula, and possibly add a few things on top of that. Let me know if you guys think the offerings from The Ordinary are suitable substitutes.

Weekend: Yours truly thought it was a good idea to go hiking on Bainbridge Island last weekend. After my hubby wanted some ice cream and I tripped on a tree root under some leaves on my way down the hill from the place. I broke my ankle. So I’m not doing much of anything for the next 8 weeks. I’m furious and in a ton of pain 🙁 Work has really sucked this week so I’m super glad it’s Friday. My cat is sick so my hubby has to take her to the vet on Saturday and do the shopping on Sunday. He went alone last Sunday and let me tell you he did a horrible job. I’ll be sending my sister with him to all of these events if he’ll accept help. As for my plans, it’s pretty much nothing but TV/Movies/Internet. I’d normally love a slow weekend like that but it’s different when you choose it than when it’s all you can do. I’m trying to reorient my thinking but it’s hard.

Fave Holiday: Christmas!

Ginny Avatar

The Ordinary vitamin C products work really well. Amazing for $6. I have the original suspension without the silicone. BUT, it isn’t luxurious or even pleasant to apply. It’s very grainy, almost like rubbing a baking soda paste on your face. You could not use it in the morning. They have since come out with other formulations, maybe those are more like a lotion. I suggest (if you haven’t) reading their site literature on each product. They are very upfront about what to expect from the product. I’ve found all their claims to be true and I’ve been very impressed by every product I’ve bought from them.

Erin Avatar

I have read a lot on their sites and independent reviews, I usually rely on my fellow Tempties or MUA’ers to give me the real skinny!

But your rec is encouraging!

I think what I might do is get my norms anyway and then order the Ordinary ones after the holidays to see how they compare myself. IDK, I need to talk to my hubby about it. He might want me to try the others first as our budget is really right rn.

Ginny Avatar

I use their hyalironic acid, squalane serum, and Natural Moisturing Factors (which is like a standard moisturizer). I have dehydrated skin and they’re all better than anything I’ve ever tried. I wouldn’t hesitate to try something else from them!

Kitty Avatar

If you live near Bainbridge Island (and not across the Sound), I live very near to you so if you’d like some help with anything, let me know. Several years ago, I broke my foot and felt like I was trapped in my home the entire time! All I could think about (it seemed) was what I was missing out on and what I could be doing… Anyway, I’m not sure how to PM on this blog and don’t want to post my email here so maybe we could communicate further through Christine if you want. (If you’re across the Sound then I won’t be much help, unfortunately, as I don’t go over there that often.) My thoughts are with you for quick healing.

Tammy Avatar

Erin, That is horrible! I imagine broken ankles take a significant period of time to heal. I broke two toes, one year apart, and was surprised at the length of the healing process and how much it impacted my daily life. I tore a ligament in my ankle 7 years ago and was in a cast for months (that was actually easier to handle, because I had a cast). How long are they going to make you stay off your feet?

xamyx Avatar

Haul: Nothing that I actually have in my possession, but I did place some orders: NARS X Man Ray eyeshadow duos & Glass Tears palette, Kat von D Beauty “Fawn Set”, and I managed to find a seller of NARS X Man Ray Love Game palette, for which I may have spent more than I should have, but managed to justify the purchase.

Plans: Nothing planned, aside from basic chores such as laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, etc…

Favorite Holiday: Although it is the epitome of “cultural appropriation”, Halloween has *always* been my favorite Holiday. In fact, I leave Halloween decorations up year-round!

Nancy T Avatar

Mellan, dear fellow, me thinks this bed be much too small and cramped for ye!

Haul: Well, I hit the Sephora Rouge 20% just after midnight, and ordered Natasha Denona Lila Palette, Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream and Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid & Retinol Eye Serum. Ordered a retractable lip brush off Amazon to use with the MAC Rossy De Palma lip gloss trio.

Weekend plans: Food shopping later today, doing hair and some picking up of my place tomorrow, meeting on Sunday. I may go to Sephora to try on Bite Cherry Lip Prism and Fenty Astro-Naughty to see which one I love best for me.

Favorite holiday: It’s in March/April on whatever day corresponds to Nissan 14 on the Jewish calendar. The Memorial of Christ’s death, because of the opportunity it opens up to humankind and so much more.

Sian Avatar

Haul: after succesfully snagging the Mac holiday lipsticks 2 weeks ago I couldn’t stop thinking about the LE lipsticks I had missed out on that i wanted. So I went a little Poshmark crazy and picked up the entire Mac Giambattista Valli collection, and the Viva Glam Gaga (repurchase for me), Miley Cyrus and Nicki collections (and Ariana 2 oops) for what were to me great prices, (roughly 25 each, although I had to pop a 50 for Gaga 2). All arrived brand new and authentic, so I am a happy girl. However I have not splurged like that in a while and need to tone down the makeup (particulary lipstick buying) down for a good while.

Weekend plans: studying tonight and Sunday and a dinner/concert date Sat night

Favorite Holiday: Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love the winter months and the food and family!

Mariella Avatar

Haul: between SDM and Sephora, I got a few things I’ve been wanting (maybe even needing) – Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick in Red Rage, UD Vice Lipstick in Gash, Smashbox’s contouring trio (the one that includes the brush), a mega-sized tube of L’Occitane 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream, Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil, Dior Forever Foundation (think this might be my new foundation love), Farmacy Sleep Tight Night Balm (I got a sample the other day to see if I’d like it….and I LOVE it), and a Sephora Contour Eye Liner in Love Affair. I wanted to get the Josie Maran Milk Serum stuff but they were sold out and the tester was totally empty – they couldn’t even give me a sample – but the other Sephora that’s not too far seems to have it in stock so I will probably pick it up there. I came very close to picking up the Anastasia Venice eyeshadow but it really makes more sense (in that demented makeup addict way) to buy 4 and get a better price per pan and a free 4-pan compact as well so I need to figure out 3 more shades that I really actually “need”. (“need” also being a relative and, if I’m honest, somewhat ridiculous term)

Mariella Avatar

Ooooops – I forgot the entire rest of the question!

Weekend plans: Hubs is going golfing so it’ll probably be the gym and a bit of sewing tomorrow. Tonight I’m going out for dinner and to a pottery show with my very favourite sister in law.

Favourite holiday: Thanksgiving. It’s all the fun, food and festive getting together that Christmas has but without the insane spending and gift-giving to people who really do have all they need already. Also, the weather is nicer and the decorating of the house is far less onerous.

Mariella Avatar

Linda and Nancy – hanging out with you ladies always makes me feel like I’m not quite so out of control! Wouldn’t it be nice if we really could all hit Sephora together????

Mariella Avatar

Maybe yes, maybe no….I mean, I could see us “adjourning” to the nearest ladies’ room to look at all our stuff and try it on, exiting with new lippie and eyeliner firmly in place and heading off to the nearest Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte and a slice of cinnamon swirl coffee cake or whatever’s your pleasure, purely to test how well the lipsticks we’d just bought and newly applied actually stand up to eating and drinking (gotta do that research!). Mind you, we’d probably leave the store shelves with very little merchandise to sell to anyone else (and all 3 of us would be checking out the terms for taking out another mortgage!)

Lulle Avatar

Haul: I was up late last night so I placed 2 orders on Sephora within the first 15 minutes of the Rouge sale, lol! I got: Atelier Cologne Advent Calendar, MUFE holiday eyeshadow palette, Huda Beauty new small palette in Smokey, Nars holiday triangle set in Deep Throat/I can’t remember the name of the lipstick, Dior mini lipstick set.
On a different note, USPS is driving me nuts not delivering an Ulta order I placed during their own 20% sale. It was supposed to be delivered Wednesday, but the tracking showed a “delivery exception” update saying that they had “no access” which was a flat out lie. I was home that day, and I got the rest of my mail including another package delivered by USPS! The update said they left a note, which they didn’t, and that my package would be delivered on the next business day. Thursday came and went, no package and no tracking update. Today, still no update. I’ve emailed customer service, I tweeted them (we exchanged a few DMs but they went silent quickly), I talked to the mailman yesterday, I even took the time to go to the post office this morning, and nobody can tell me anything! The word is, “oh it’s going to come tomorrow”. Yeah, right. The post office supervisor was supposed to call me this morning with an update. Surprise, they haven’t… If the package still doesn’t come by the end of today (I doubt it will, since there’s no “out for delivery” update), I’m going to involve Ulta and UPS in this mess (it was a UPS Surepost shipment). Sorry for venting!

Weekend plans: I’m on a 3-week fitness challenge with my studio so I’ll probably run, hike and workout. Possibly go to dinner with friends too.

Favorite Holiday: Christmas! Food, gifts and shiny ornaments, yeah!

xamyx Avatar

That is exactly why I hate shopping online! If something has to go through USPS, chances are I won’t bother ordering. Fortunately, everything I’ve ordered involving “Surepost” ends up being completed by UPS (which will also do a second attempt-time permitted-if they come by my mailbox store too early).

I actually had USPS tracking list a package as delivered, but it took nearly a month to actually arrive…

Lulle Avatar

I do 90% of my shopping online, and most of the time, everything arrives on time without any issue. But when I have problems, it’s usually with UPS rather than USPS. Sometimes UPS and Amazon carriers deliver other people’s packages to me… I know my mailman so it probably helps getting everything delivered as it should, but of course he was on vacation this week!
Anyways, yesterday afternoon my package came, despite the absence of update in the tracking system. The box was messed up but luckily the contents were intact!

Anne Avatar

Haul: I did the Sephora sale thing and got some holiday sets and some everyday stuff. Holiday set-wise, I picked up the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lip Set and the Hourglass Confession Refillable Lipstick Set, along with the Anastasia Prism Palette. Stock-up wise I got another First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish as mine is running low, and the 17 oz Kiehl’s Creme de Corps that comes in a pump bottle because, as they say in Westeros, Winter Is Coming, and my skin is definitely aware of that.

Weekend plans: Just some household sorting and such, and helping my sister pick out some anti-aging skincare from Sephora (any suggestions welcome!) so she can take advantage of the sale.

What’s your favorite holiday?: It used to be either Christmas or Thanksgiving, but since I don’t live near family and am dealing with illness & disability, I don’t really do holidays. I think the two months leading up to Christmas, not including the crowds, are my favorite holiday. The mulled cider, getting a Christmas tree, lighting pine-scented candles and using home-y smelling diffuser oils from Saje. The warm PJs and the cat on my lap. So it may not exactly be a holiday, but it’s still my favorite.

LindaP Avatar

Mellan! xoxo

Nothing this week. Not sure what I’ll get at the Sephora sale beyond replacements. Just not wanting anything right now. We’ll see if that changes…. 🙂

Launching a major web/digital project on Monday, I’ll be on the case testing, refining and proofing all weekend. Whatever downtime I do have, there is not a thing planned.

Favorite holiday:
July 4. Warm. Everyone’s off work. Easy entertaining. No pressure. Fun. Thanksgiving is second favorite. I am a total Xmas Scrooge.

Haul: I’ve been saving my Ulta points since the last holiday season, and I just cashed them in for $250 dollars, so bear with me. First, I bought a couple of things ahead of time when they had bonus point perk special to get me over the limit, and what I got for that was: ABH singles in Fudge, Enchanted, Rose Gold, and Pink Champagne, and the Moonchild Glow Kit, my Mario Badescu Rose Spray (HG for the last year now), and UD Vice lipstick in Asphyxia, UD lip liner in 69 (I needed a red to replace my Mac when since going CF).
I cashed in 4,000 points, and with that I got: UD Moondust shadows in Extragalactic, Solstice, Moonspoon, and Scorpio, Tarte metallic shadow in Downtown, TF Unicorn Survival Kit, Stila Molten Midnight Glitter & Glow eyeshadow, the new Wet n’ Wild highlighting palette, Limecrime Diamond Crushers in Lit and Acid Fairy, and their hair dye samples in Gargoyle and Charcoal (I want to go gray but I’d like to test it first), and a Velvetine in Wicked (my roommate’s Christmas gift), plus two sheet masks for my roommate for Christmas as well, Smashbox eyeliner in Bubbly, and some empty Z palette pans so I can learn how to press loose pigments.

Weekend plans: Study, study, study! Especially with new job and a research project this semester, I’m busier than ever!

Favorite holiday: Halloween! I love fall in general, but especially Halloween. It’s the perfect mix of creative, cute, and creepy for me. I’m so sad it’s over and I’m already counting down to next year.

Weekend plans: I just got added as a makeup writer for the wonderful Dear Darkling online magazine, so I’ll be working on getting familiar with Word Press and polishing up an article rough draft for publication. I’m nervous about learning the new tech stuff, but excited to be writing again!

What’s your favorite holiday?: Christmas! I love the lights and decorations. Halloween is a very close second, though. I love putting together costumes and makeup, and I adore the spooky decorations.

Having a little rest Mellon? Beautiful doggie!

Haul: Some more Rimmel Match Perfection Gel foundation in porcelain and mascaras that were on sale.

Weekend Plans: On Saturday we are going up to the Healesville Races for my daughter in law’s mother’s 60th birthday. It’s the Heaslesville Cup and it is quite a family affair. They have a fashions on the field for little children under 6 years and it’s gorgeous to see the boys and girls getting up on stage. Needless to say, Olivia will love it. The trouble is that the weather is really quite cold, not exactly what you need to wear your spring best.
On Sunday I plan to do nothing….

Favourite holiday season: Normally I would say Christmas, but it’s often extremely hot here and I find the heat debilitating. However since having grand children, it does make it a very special occasion.
I love Easter too – cooler weather and not a big deal re presents.

♥ Haul:
• MAC Snow Ball Face Bag in GOLD
• Elizavecca Milky Piggy Galactomyces 97% Serum
• Mizon Original Skin Energy Collagen 100 [Ampoule]
❝ I finally got my hands on ‘Whisper of Gilt’! I’ve spent so many years stalking this shade (I missed last year’s holiday collection because I was on a ‘no buy’ makeup diet), and now it’s finally mine! I wore it today and it was beautiful. The Mizon was a restock purchase; I’m on empty with my current bottle. The galactomyces purchase was because I didn’t want to drop $40+ on a bottle of SK-II [Pitera] Facial Treatment Essence. ❞

♥ Weekend plans:
❝ New England had a terrible storm last Sunday, and the power went out in my neighborhood for nearly 24 hours (I think a tree fell on the power lines and took out a huge radius; some places in my state are still without power). I have to clean up the melted mess the refrigerator made before mold starts to form. So cleaning, cleaning, cleaning is my weekend plans. ❞

♥ What’s your favorite holiday?
❝ Bar none, CHRISTMAS!! I’m a Christmas-ish baby, so I do hold some bias towards the holiday. All the same, I love this time of year. The cooler weather, the decorations, the carols. Some people — well, a lot of people — get so angry when they hear Christmas carols playing on the radio or in stores, but I’m the only one gleefully singing along. I never get tired of Christmas songs. Never! I find that people are kinder during the Christmas season; just don’t approach them when a Christmas carol is playing. ? ❞

Weekend plans: It’s my husband and I’s first anniversary this weekend, so we’re planning on a nice dinner… and eating wedding cake! 🙂
What’s your favorite holiday?: Christmas! I love giving gifts, so Christmas is my favorite!

Haul — Viseart Warm Mattes palette (it’d been on my wish list for months, I finally caved; I’m liking it); Smashbox Ablaze palette for an upcoming trip for which I need to pack light.

Weekend — I leave for 10 day business trip tomorrow. So I’ve been packing, washing clothes etc all day.

Holiday — Christmas. I love the decorations, family orientation, music, traditions.

Viseart Warm Mattes is my favorite Viseart palette. I own four others and Warm Mattes is the one that makes me understand why Viseart is so well-loved. The eyeshadows are simply perfect in every way (and I don’t even especially like mattes, lol).

Haul: ColourPop Supernova Eye Shadows in Walk of Fame, Hard to Impress, Firecracker, Dragon and Moonlit x 2 of each, ColourPop pressed eye shadows in Snake Eyes, Tea Garden and Glass Bull, Lippie Stix in Lumiere x 2, lip pencils in Lumiere and Aquarius and liquid lip in Lumiere 2. Morphe Setting Mist x 2, I have never used this but some people rave about it and it is relatively cheap when compared to my Tatcha, Cover FX or MAC Fix Plus but it is going to have to be great for me to give up my Fix Plus. I haven’t placed my Sephora haul yet but it is mostly going to be skin care so I am not worried too much about things running out. Hopefully I will have time tomorrow when I can focus better.

Weekend Plans: We got our first snow fall of the season on the valley floor and it is still snowing. It is a bit early for us to have gotten this much so soon. Right now I have about a foot and it is still snowing. So, I plan on staying inside where it is warm and catching up on some housework as I am having company next week and want to get a jump on the cleaning,

Favorite holiday: I am going to go with Christmas although I would say both Thanksgiving and Christmas. My family, besides my daughter, are all Scrooges and don’t decorate, give gifts, etc. I still really enjoy the gift buying, wrapping of presents, decorating and cooking. This year may be a little different as my daughter is actually out in the job force and since she is working two jobs in the service industry, she may have to work over both holidays. That will be a first for me not having her come home. I told her we could flex the date of celebration since no one else cares. I am hoping she will be able to come home for at least a day or two over both holidays.

Haul: Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette (after 3 years of lusting!), Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Bloom, Viseart Theory palette in Cashmere (purchased for a friend so she can use the discount), Kiehl’s Cucumber Herbal toner, and Dr. Jart Cicapair serum! These are all new products to me but I have a feeling I’ll make a second order of my regular favorites. I’m probably going to go in-store tomorrow to pick up some other stuff, and I think I want to give the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer another try. I just adore the finish, but in the past it’s oxidized on me. I’ll try it on the back of my hand in-store and if it oxidizes then, I won’t get it. Here’s hoping it won’t, because it’s just so beautiful.

Weekend plans: Trying to rest and get on top of work, and then return some stuff to the mall! I accidentally pressed “place order” twice on an Old Navy order… Oh, and I’m also THIS close to finishing the sweater I’m knitting so I’m hoping to get that done and finished by Monday!

What’s your favorite holiday?: Easter! Even when I was a little kid, I loved getting all dressed up in my fanciest dress with the matching straw hat. My childhood church has a tradition where everyone gets a potted hyacinth and on the refrain we lift them above our heads. Yeah, kind of weird, no one’s sure where it came from, but as a kid it was the most exciting thing. And then of course the songs and the egg hunt and getting chocolate all over the fancy dress. It’s just a nostalgic holiday for me and everyone in my family always seems a little bit happier.

Nail polishes – (new releases came out from OPI and some indie brands I like). Just when I finished rounding out my collection, the new releases came out. Shopping my stash helped, but there was still that one special or different color of xxxx that I wanted.

Road Movie quad (thanks, Anne LOL)

Sephora sale/NARS Audacious Lipstick:
Anna, Barbara – I was going to get the triangles, but just got full sizes instead because I have dupes galore of the blushes. I’m almost through the Barbara I had, so I’m ready for this new one and I finally bought Anna.
Guerlain Terracotta Light Bronzing Powder Brunettes 03 (backups)

Tom Ford Something Wild Lipstick(s), 3 – FYI, apparently some of the lipsticks are being discontinued and you can’t find them anywhere! I had this in my Sephora cart and was ready to pull the trigger on the 3rd, and all of a sudden, it was out of stock. I thought it was just due to the sale, but after searching high and low, none of the retailers have it in stock, not even the Tom Ford website. I hauled these from eBay at the same sale price that I would have gotten the 20% off from Sephora (still can’t believe the luck with that). I am keeping the other 2 in the fridge until I’m ready to use (thank you Mariella for this tip).
MAC quads: A Novel Romance, Amorous Adventure (back up, love all shades in this one) and Devilishly Dark

Basic Bitch, Power Hungry, Mischeif Minx and Prissy Princess Girls palettes – I caved. Names are an eye roll, hate the layout, like the colors, hate that you still need a little outside help with transition shades, love that it has a highlighter, love that they are palettes (my kryptonite).
Snow ball collection: face bags (Peach, Gold), Eye compacts (Rose Gold, Gold), Glitter kits (Pink, Gold) Face Powders (Happy Go Dazzlingly and Here Comes Joy), Extra Dimension Eye Shadows in Frostwinked, Stylishly Merry, Delicate Drift, It’s Snowing, Starry Starry Night – might have already mentioned these? I haven’t posted a haul in a while.
Matchmaster Foundation, shade 2
Fast Response eye cream
PeachyKeen blush
Dare You lipstick

Nordstrom Mascara Madness:
3 Waterproof MAC Haute and Naughty
3 Waterproof Diorshow

Weekend plans: Saturday – clean, cook, lay low. Sunday – volunteer or church and we might go see my parents so I can cook with my dad. I love cooking with him – he’s a man of few words and the companionable silence is so soothing. I love the meal prep and how intuitive it is when we’re in the kitchen together. We usually have a bottle of wine during and at the end, we have this feast and leftovers. It never gets old, looking around the table and everyone is silent and completely engrossed in eating what you made. Some of them even close their eyes and make noises LOL. Makes me feel good.

What’s your favorite holiday?: I’m a curmudgeon and don’t have one, unless my birthday counts. Maybe Halloween because it’s more of a low or no pressure holiday. I like the idea of Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, but the hype and hustle and bustle can get really overwhelming and I find that there is anything but “holiday cheer” when I’m out and about. I prefer just-because family visits because there’s no pressure, or Sunday dinners with family (typically I’m cooking with a few others) because of the routine.

Haul: Nothing yet! My no buy just ended 10/31.
Weekend plans: Homework, Pokémon movie and dinner with the BF.
What’s your favorite holiday?: Thanksgiving! I think it’s just like Christmas for us but with a semi-set menu and no gifts.
