MAC Speed Up, A for Attitude, What's Going On Vamplify Lipglosses Reviews, Photos, Swatches
MAC Speed Up Vamplify Lipgloss
MAC Speed Up Vamplify Lipgloss ($20.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “bubblegum pink.” It’s a light-medium pink with cool, blue undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had good pigmentation, though it wasn’t fully opaque, that applied evenly but had a tendency to emphasize lip lines. I noticed some of the gloss settled more noticeably as it wore on (after about two hours), but it wasn’t the worst I’ve seen–probably one of the better-wearing and -looking light pinks from MAC in gloss-form in awhile. This shade wore well for four hours on me and was lightly hydrating. MAC Pure Silliness (LE, $21.00) is brighter (95% similar). MAC Sweet as Pie (LE, $21.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Carousel (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Patentpink (P, $20.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Snob (P, $21.00) is more muted (90% similar). NYX Merengue (P, $5.00) is lighter (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Rio (354) (P, $29.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Long Love Love (DC, $19.50) is cooler (90% similar). MAC A for Attitude Vamplify Lipgloss ($20.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “hot pink.” It’s a brightened, medium fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had mostly opaque color payoff that went on fairly evenly, though there were very slight lines if I pressed my lips together–the more neon quality to it helped to make these lines harder to see at a normal viewing distance. On me, it was lightly hydrating over the five hours it lasted. Anastasia Dollhouse (-, $16.00) is lighter, brighter (95% similar). NYX Funnel Delight (P, $5.99) is lighter, brighter (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Cherry Moon (352) (P, $29.00) is more muted (90% similar). NARS Love Me Do (P, $26.00) is more muted, warmer (90% similar). NYX Sugar Cookie (P, $5.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC What’s Going On Vamplify Lipgloss ($20.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “hot intense fuchsia.” It’s a bold, brightened, medium-dark deep pink with fuchsia shimmer and a glossy finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that applied very smoothly and evenly. If you have naturally darker lips, I could see this going on a bit more muted or deeper as a result, since there is some visible lip color coming through. It wore well for five hours and was moderately hydrating while worn. Sephora Ultra Violet (18) (P, $12.00) is lighter (95% similar). Burberry Pink Sweet Pea (LE, $29.00) is more muted (95% similar). MAC Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson (LE, $21.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Too Faced Totally Smashed (P, $20.00) is more muted (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Whip It (304) (P, $29.00) is warmer (90% similar). Estee Lauder Violet Rain (LE, $22.50) is more shimmery (90% similar). ColourPop Kink (LE, $10.00) is lighter, less pigmented (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Not Sorry (378) (P, $29.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Dior Soho (888) (P, $35.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Boom Boom (210) (DC, $28.00) is lighter (90% similar). FORMULA SUMMARY | MAC Vamplify Lipgloss ($20.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is supposed to have intense, vivid color paired with a moisturizing, glossy, long-wearing formula. Some shades are very pigmented while others are semi-opaque, and some shades apply evenly while others are more streaky. They have a light-medium thick consistency that’s not heavy or goopy, but it’s not really thin; however, they’re really smooth and creamy, so they feel nice on. There’s no tackiness initially, and it feels a lot like lip balm to me–soft, smooth, and my lips felt supple. I find they develop light to moderate tackiness as they wear on. They wear anywhere from three to five hours and are lightly to moderately hydrating over time. The formula has strong, vanilla scent (stronger than their lipsticks; I can smell it for a bit even when it is applied, not just in the tube) but no discernible taste.

What’s Going On is beautiful, but I have dupes.
Thank goodness 🙂
How would you say this formula compares to the Kissable Lipcolour from MAC?
Less creamy, more gel-like.
I love What’s going on! Must be mine!
Enjoy, Nicole!
Well, of course I LOVE What’s Going On; I already have Revlon HD Pink Ruby! But A For Attitude and Speed Up both look pretty darn good, too. Fairly impressed by the coverage that Speed Up is giving!
Haha! Those fuchsias always get me.
Christine, how does the formula of these compare to the Dior Fluidsticks (if you’ve tried them)? Thanks!
Very different, as the Fluidsticks are very tacky and get on teeth easily!
I love What’s Going On, and the other two would be great over a few lipsticks I own.
I can see them working over lipsticks!
I’m honestly so surprised that with all these matte liquid lipsticks EVERYONE is doing, MAC still hasn’t jumped on the trend. They are “supposed to be” a trendy brand after all… I’m not saying I NEED or WANT another liquid matte lipstick! LOL! I just find it kind of odd and funny… then again… are ANY of the Lauder companies doing liquid mattes right now???
LOL! Maybe because they did it with PLW years ago that they’re like “pfft, we already did this.”
What’s PLW?
Pro Longwear
They were meant to have liquid lipsticks coming out this year, but apparently the formula was a bit of a disaster and they’ve been shelved for now.
What’s going on looks a lot like Revlon HD Pink Ruby!
Somewhat for sure!
What’s going on is soooo pretty! I love the hint of blue iridescent sparkles 🙂
Monica.
Me too!
Oh my! What’s Going On is sooo cool, looks great on you, Christine!! I love pinks with a violet/blue shimmer tint, they look just awful on my skintone though.
Awww!
Thank you, though!
Wow, I love shiny, pigmented glosses, and these deliver! I have Revlon HD Pink Ruby, so I’m covered. What’s Going On totally reminds me of it
Awesome! 🙂
When I saw these yesterday in your sneak peek, they looked pretty good! I just bought a Urban Decay Revolution Lipgloss but he hasn’t arrived yet. Do you think they are similar in texture and pigmentation? Is there one you prefer over the other?
Oh, that’s tough! I think UD’s are a bit thinner overall, so they are more lightweight. They’re comparable in general pigmentation/wear!
I was kind of hoping these would just be the kissable lip colors under a different name. I love that formula.
I’m going to get What’s Going On, I love it! A for Attitude isn’t bad either, but it doesn’t feel like a must. Colours like What’s Going On aslways makes my heart run a bit faster, I really like bold, fuchsia pinks. I also don’t have anything mentioned on the dupe list, so it is a must one for me.
Revlon Colorburst lipgloss in Adorned is a total DUPE for What’s Going On?
It is already listed above!
Oh snap, I skimmed right by it. Haha. Wont be getting it anymore. But most def have three on the list.
Wow, I love What’s Going On! Do you have dupes available for lipsticks? All the possible dupes are for glosses, and I would really like to find a similar color with the blue/purple shift in a lipstick.
You can look for a dupe by browsing the swatch gallery! Just select what parameters you’re looking for 🙂
