Indigo-go

MAC Indigo-go Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a dark, slightly muted, navy blue with cool undertones and a soft, natural sheen. It had good pigmentation–more pigmented than I thought based on the initial swatch–that went on fairly evenly. The consistency had moderate slip, which made it more comfortable to wear over the five and a half hours it lasted. I had a bit of trouble getting the lipstick to adhere well to the center of my lip both times I wore it (once for photos, once for testing), but it seemed to go on fine everywhere else. This shade did stain my lips a bluish-violet after wear, while the formula was slightly hydrating overall.

Formula Overview

$19.00/0.1 oz. - $190.00 Per Ounce

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.

Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.

The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Matte Royal

MAC Matte Royal Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep, bluish purple with cool undertones and a soft sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that went on fairly evenly, though there was a touch of color that settled into my deeper lip lines. The darker color made it harder to notice that, though. This shade has been released before, but the version I received for this launch was much more pigmented and had less slip on the lips. It still had a creamier texture that didn’t tug on my lips when I applied it directly from the tube, but it didn’t slide around or look as uneven applied. It wore well for six hours and left a stain behind, while the formula seemed non-drying.

In My Fashion

MAC In My Fashion Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a blackened plum with subtle, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that covered the lips evenly and smoothly, except the very inner portion of my lips which looked a bit patchy. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy without being too heavy or too slippery on the lips, and was comfortable to wear. The color wore nicely for five hours and was non-drying. This is a repromoted shade, and the only difference I could see was that it seemed slightly purpler overall (not quite as brown/warm) and marginally more pigmented.

I have had issues with lipstick not adhering to the middle of my lip before. Do you think it’ll be a big issue with these? I see some fading spots on all swatches. These three colors are calling my name though…

Wow! Indigo-go is a brilliant, perfect color! So cool, but not so dark! Love, love, love it!

Already bought Matte Royal a couple of weeks ago during an impulse purchase session at the MAC counter at my local Macys and love it — really like mixing/topping it with sparkly shades like On And On or Pick Me, Pick Me!

I like In My Fashion quite a bit, too, but actually feel like I might have enough deep plum lipsticks for the moment — what a surprise!

Indigo-go looks interesting, being a muted version of a dark colour.
I wonder if I could pull it off, considering dark lips look harsh on my face (yes, even the typical dark reds).

I like all of the three, Matte Royal I like so much I already have it 🙂 I did have to try it on, as it looks a bit different on your lips. Annoyingly it looks better on you 😀 Then you can wear any and everything and look good.
Indigi-go is not for me, unfortunately, lovely colour though.
In My Fashion is a must have. I have no idea why it’s not in my stash.
