LORAC Beauty and the Beast PRO Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Beauty and the Beast Eye Palette
LORAC Beauty and the Beast PRO Eyeshadow Palette ($48.00 for 0.32 oz.) includes 16 eyeshadows that are supposed to be all new and using the brand’s PRO formula. The eyeshadows felt smooth, finely-milled, and had some powderiness (as a result of being so soft) and felt comparable to past Pro palettes, though I have found that the original Pro palettes seem to have more substance and adhere better (without primer) than newer palettes.
Some shades were pigmented, while others were sheer, and some applied fine without primer and others sheered out so easily that it was impossible to maintain opaque coverage on the lid. The wear was six to eight hours with a lot of shades falling short. The palette itself is massive, as it was designed to resemble a book, which keeps with the theme but still made it bulky and not at all travel-friendly.

Dream It
Dream It is a soft, creamy gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow was incredibly soft and silky to the touch, though it was prone to sheering out a bit on the lid when blended out. It had good pigmentation but needed a primer to adhere well. The color started to fade on me after seven hours of wear.

Time Keeper
Time Keeper is a medium, taupe-brown with warmer undertones and a metallic sheen. It had opaque color payoff with a smooth, creamy texture that wasn’t too powdery in the pan, so it applied well to bare skin and blended out without losing its intensity immediately. The eyeshadow lasted for eight hours on me.

Our Guest
Our Guest is a muted, medium-dark gray with cool, blue undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, which was buildable to semi-opaque coverage on bare skin. The texture was soft but thin and dusty, which kept it from building up fully. It stayed on well for six and a half hours.

Spell Breaker
Spell Breaker is a deep brown with cool undertones and larger, gold flecks of glitter over a matte finish. The glitter did not translate onto the lid, so this looked like a matte eyeshadow in practice. The texture was silky and smooth, though powdery, and it sheered out from mostly opaque coverage to medium coverage as soon as I tried to spread the product around. Inner Beauty
Inner Beauty is a soft, light-medium pink with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a soft, silky texture that was soft enough that it kicked up some powdery excess in the pan. The eyeshadow sheered out noticeably on the lid and was hard to build up without a tacky primer. It started to fade noticeably on me after six hours of wear.

Tick Tock
Tick Tock is a muted, medium mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It was quite powdery, though the texture seemed more substantial as the eyeshadow adhered better to bare skin than expected. It might have been messier to use but applied more evenly and had almost opaque coverage in practice. It started to fade on me after seven hours of wear.

Real You
Real You is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of sparkle. It had sheer coverage, which was not buildable, even with a primer. The texture was drier, firmer, and difficult to blend out on the lid. This shade seemed to wear for around six hours but was hard to tell as there was so little of it that applied to begin with.

The color selection is nice, but I don’t think I am in love with enough of them to buy the whole palette, especially since some of the lower rated shades were my favorites.
Argh! Maybe next palette!
Too bad they didn’t put as much effort into the actual shadows as they did with the packaging. Thanks for your review. I was curious about this.
No problem, Michele!
Both in color story and quality, this reads like a Too Faced LE palette. What a shame.
Yeah, there is a lot of room for improvement here!
You couldn’t of said it any better
Oh gosh, I just don’t know! The bulkiness along with some poor performing shades is giving me some serious pause on this. Perhaps when it clearances? But probably not even then. This palette is pretty disappointing.
The bulkiness is annoying, I think, if you aren’t a HUGE fan of the movie/packaging and don’t have a lot of space.
I never really go for these Disney collabs because they all seem to have poor quality in common. I feel like Lorac’s regular line is much better in quality.
I think the texture of these feels more in line with their regular formula by touch, but there was still something off about it.
This is probably one of the coolest toned palettes that I’ve seen from Lorac, but except for a few, the shadows aren’t wowing me
That is very true — it was a cooler-toned palette!
I have been longing for a beauty brand to put out a nice cool toned palette and this overall reads cooler than most. I was hoping for good performance but this isn’t good enough for me. I am going to pass.
Darn!!
It’s not like the color selection is bad or not fitting w the theme but I wish these companies would stop w the LE themed palettes if they aren’t going to put their best quality products in them. Wish these colors were more vibrant. The packaging is just meh. Underwhelmed and will most likely pass which sucks bc BB is my favorite movie of all time!
I mean, there are permanent palettes that are also inconsistent and limited edition palettes that are great, so I don’t know if it’s just an LE thing!
I get that. Yes there is a good and bad in everything. I just wish they would stop with it if they aren’t going to put any effort into making a decent palette. We know we can expect more from Lorac. This is disappointing!
I agree there – no sense in putting out subpar palettes either way! 🙂
This is a really mixed up palette – a mixed up collection of shades and of ratings. Very few brands can pull off a navy or navy/grey matte and Lorac does not. As a blue eye shadow lover, I would not use that navy as a matte at all. Time Keeper was my favourite shade.
On several levels, I don’t think this is a good one from Lorac – even the packaging is not right. Leave the Disney to Sephora, MAC and Too Faced.
What a total mess this is! The shades together and then individual shades. The small amount of product in the huge bulky palette. I just don’t understand it!
The bulkiness gets me!
Christine, i would love if you could do a post about makeup manufacturing because i long to know how companies operatate in terms of creating product for their regular line and special collabs like this. How is it that (like w Pirates) the formulas seem very similar to their standard products but then are ‘off’. The lipstick for Pirates has the same smell but not the ‘slip’ of Alter Egos- and i bet B&B lipsticks are the same….so do they use a different facility? Change the formula in order to rush the product? It is all so obscure.
I don’t work in manufacturing, so I could not write any post about it. A lot of how a brand creates, develops, and what goes into that process is likely considered secret by the brand, so only someone who works closely with a brand or has been in manufacturing would be able to offer that insight (and more on a high level or as a generalization).
The lipstick used in the Pirates of the Caribbean duos was the MOD formula – it is not meant to be the Alter Ego formula – it is different on purpose.
I’ll have to check out the dupe for Time Keeper.
I have bought disney collab palettes before from Sephora. I quite like the Ariel palette and the two UD ones with Alice in Wonderland ones. However, since owning the three I mentioned, I have realized that even though they are nice quality to me, I have rarely ever used them. It’s just sitting and collecting dust. I am such a fan of Beauty and the Beast and this one looks so pretty, but I am afraid I won’t use it as much and it will just sit and expire. I think I should pass on this one.
