Lisa Eldridge Velvet Muse & Velvet Beauty True Velvet Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Velvet Muse
Lisa Eldridge Velvet Muse True Velvet Lipstick Colour ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a dusty, medium coral with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered evenly to my lips. The texture was lightweight, smooth, and velvety–dense and slid easily across my lips but didn’t feel traditionally creamy or emollient. There was a touch of product that sank into my deeper lip lines, which was apparent in the close-up photo but not in person. It lasted well for five hours and felt a touch hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$36.00/0.12 oz. - $300.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be a "creamy, hydrating matte with a slight sheen" that is "long wearing and non drying." The three shades launched to-date are very pigmented with a lightly creamy, velvety texture that is thicker (but not heavy!) compared to the Insanely Saturated formula but has a similar velvety quality--smooth, glides on but doesn't feel wet or slippery at all.
The colors went on evenly and smoothly and were more flattering on (less prone to emphasizing lip texture or lip lines) than the average matte lipstick. They wear was between five and seven hours well, and they felt neither drying nor hydrating over time. There is no scent or taste to the formula.

Velvet Beauty
Lisa Eldridge Velvet Beauty True Velvet Lipstick Colour ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a soft, matte finish. It had rich color coverage that applied in a single, fluid stroke without tugging or dragging on my lips.
The texture was velvety, creamy without feeling slick or wet, and was very lightweight despite having a denser feel as it went on (initially). The color applied evenly, and I had a smidgen of product in my deeper lip lines, but it wasn’t enough to be noticeable in person. It wore well for five and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Both are beautiful, but for my personal preference, I’d go in for Velvet Muse. It fits in with my coloring and love for slightly colorful MLBB type shades.
If i had seen your swatches I probably wouldn’t have bought from this launch. I got a set that included Velvet Muse and it’s not really my color—I should’ve known since I don’t normally like tawny pinks but it was touted as being unique in its undertones. It’s not. I thought it would be cooler toned. Also the texture of it looks chalky and unflattering on my lips. The upside is it wears impressively, basically like a liquid lipstick, while staying pliable and comfortable.
I know they have a 30 day return policy, maybe you could contact them? ?
Velvet Muse is BEAUTIFUL. I wonder when it will be back in stock…
I think I must be the only one to not like these. They look drying on the lips even though they supposedly aren’t. Colourpop does a better lipstick.
I have Velvet Beauty and I love it. It’s warmer in person, almost a pinky red but very wearable. I hope she releases new colors in the spring!
This post made me go and put it on lol. Thanks for the reviews! They’ll be handy when Lisa (likely) restocks the colors I was waffling over.
I picked up a couple of shades from the new launch and one from the pinks launch and I am loving them. They are very comfortable to wear and last quite a long time on me. That in and of itself is reason to like them since traditional bullet lipsticks just don’t last for me. I am glad to see that the reviews are good. I feel like Lisa is the type of person who would really work the kinks out before going to production and I was super stoked that she responded to me on my IG.
I was lucky enough to get the 3 OG shades in her first launch (morning, jazz, ribbon). I was so impressed with the quality that I’ve bought every shade she’s made since. I love her lipsticks and only wish she would release more wearable nude shades. I rarely wear reds or darks, as it’s always such a hassle. With a nude, I can throw it on without a mirror even.
Of the 13 released, Fawn is the most wearable on me (NC15/20 fw/ss). It’s a cross between Pat McGrath Christy and 1995. It wears beautifully.
Velvet Muse looks like 1995 to me but someone on a review video said she thought it looked more like Omi. Maybe it has to do with your base color.
Velvet Beauty is a lot like PMG Beautiful Creature which is slightly warmer. Agree Soft Core is the right tone just darker.
I haven’t played much with my 3 new darker shades. They’ll go on later in the winter 🙂
I thought I’d love both of these until I saw how dry they look on the lips. On me, it would be like Death Valley on my lips.
I regret not getting Velvet Muse. It was sold out by the time I ordered mine.
Beautiful, everyday pinky coral shades. Velvet Muse is lovely, although I don’t wear these colours as they just don’t suit me. But I think these are great value.
Oh, I love LE’s lippy formula!
And her colors are so unique & the packaging is simple, functional, & glamorous!
This is true luxury.
xoxo
I have both of these shades and they are both beautiful, IMHO. The colours themselves aren’t unique or special (see all the dupes!), but the formula sure is. I’ve never worn a more comfortable matte lipstick, ever. They NEVER feel or look dry on me 🙂 I love them ♥
both are not calling out to me! I am glad I veered away from purchasing any lipsticks this time.
On the plus side, I finally found a use for the Lisa Eldridge love of my life lipstick.
I wear it as a base and add Nars Damned on top and the color on my lips is the most beautiful plum/berry color. I got complimented about it the past two days.
