Liquid Lipsticks Under $15 | 2019 Editor’s Favorites

You know what 2019 was NOT the year of? Liquid lipsticks! The system only counted 88 liquid lipstick reviews (across all price points), which my lips are all-too happy about!  If there’s further reduction in 2020, I’ll like combine my favorites into one post rather than split by price point (particularly since even this year’s roundup is dominated by one brand).

If you’re unfamiliar with how I like to do my year-end favorites, here’s the low down: I pull from the products I reviewed in 2019, regardless of whether they were new, limited edition, or an established range I’ve only just gotten around to reviewing. These are personal favorites, so they may or may not be the highest rated products reviewed during the year (though they will tend to be better rated, naturally!). (You can check out best of 2018 if you missed it.)

Comments that do not adhere to our comment policy may be removed. Discussion and debate are highly encouraged but we expect community members to participate respectfully. Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Did you reach for liquid lipstick less in 2019? Yes, I’ve really seen a reduction in how often I used any of mine this past year.

What liquid lipsticks did you use the most this year? Other than 2 liquified lipsticks, I’ve really only reached for KVD Hawkwind. And not very often at that.

Do you expect to increase or reduce your use of liquid lipsticks in 2020? Reduce! I don’t like having dry feeling, shriveled up, painful lips, especially while living in such a dry climate.

Did you reach for liquid lipstick less in 2019?
More, actually! I really only ‘discovered’ them for my own use this year, and I found that they work well with how I like to wear lip colour — that is, occasionally but in very eye-catching shades. I keep being disappointed by low coverage in bullet-type lipsticks with “statement” colours 🙁

What liquid lipsticks did you use the most this year?
All the ones I own are either Australis Velourlips (I bought a bunch on clearance prices, I think the range is discontinued now) or Sephora Lip Creams. Australis Tokio is a great bright purple, and Sephora Audacious Emerald looks great even when it goes patchy, so I’m particularly pleased with those ones.

Do you expect to increase or reduce your use of liquid lipsticks in 2020?
Increase. I think I’ll finally get around to trying Colourpop’s offerings, especially if they bring out some more interesting colours again.

The Sephora Lip Creams are a great formula! And they LAST. There was a red one I had for longer than I care to admit (my first liquid lipstick ever) that I loved!

Did you reach for liquid lipstick less in 2019? — No, probably more because I discovered Bite Beauty’s now discontinued Amuse Bouche Liquid Lipstick line! But yes in terms of traditional dry-as-the-desert liquid lipsticks!

What liquid lipsticks did you use the most this year? — Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquid Lipsticks in Purée and Flambé.

Do you expect to increase or reduce your use of liquid lipsticks in 2020? — Reduce most likely.

Did you reach for liquid lipstick less in 2019? I got rid of almost all my liquid lipsticks in the last year, so I only reached for liquid lipstick once or twice!

What liquid lipsticks did you use the most this year? I used the L’Oreal Rouge Signature Liquid Lipstick and a couple of Infallible Lip Paints, but I recently discovered the Em Cosmetics Infinite Lip Clouds and those have a lovely formula. They make me want to wear liquid lipstick.

Do you expect to increase or reduce your use of liquid lipsticks in 2020? I might wear it a little more if it’s the right formula. I like the L’Oréal Rouge Signaure ones because they’re so thin and the Em Cosmetics lip clouds because they’re like a bullet lip formula in liquified form.

Did you reach for liquid lipstick less in 2019? Yes. I wore lipglosses more instead.

What liquid lipsticks did you use the most this year? Geek Chic Cosmetics Lip Zazz in Bio-Exorcist; Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick in Cava, Demi-Glace, Stir, and Kohrabi; Black Moon Cosmetics Liquid to Matte in Immortal; Ciate Glitter Flip in Fortune.

Do you expect to increase or reduce your use of liquid lipsticks in 2020? My use will probably be about the same.
