ColourPop Make Believe & Pitter Ponder Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Make Believe
ColourPop Make Believe Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.50 for 0.11 oz.) is a bright, periwinkle blue with cool undertones and a satin finish. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, while the consistency was lightweight, smooth, and spreadable but seemed to have a bit more slip. That extra slip made it pull away slightly along my lip lines and appeared “cracked” when I smiled. The liquid lipstick was comfortable to wear, as it didn’t slide around, and after an hour or so, it had minimal transfer. It stayed on well for over six hours and didn’t feel drying over time but did settle into my lip lines a bit over time.

It is supposed to be a “lightweight, bold lipstick with a satin finish”liquid lipstick that is “extra intense colour saturation” and “long-wearing,” but the brand is quick to note that it is “not completely kiss proof.” The consistency is very light to lightweight with a thin to mousse-like consistency–they feel a little heavier going on than the Ultra Matte formula, but they don’t feel heavy on. They dry down somewhat, but it isn’t a full, flat dry down like matte liquid lipsticks, and when you press your lips together, there is moderate tackiness there, but I didn’t notice any lifting or separating of color by doing so.
They have been extremely long-wearing and comfortable to wear for the most part–it’s after ten hours or so that I notice my lips feeling a little dry–but six hours into wear and the colors have looked good post-meals/post-drinking. I think if you like the idea of longer-wearing, mostly matte lip color but find most liquid lipsticks too drying or too flat while not needing an ultra-hydrating formula, you might like these.

Pitter Ponder
ColourPop Pitter Ponder Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.50 for 0.11 oz.) is a brighter, medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. The color coverage was good, though it wasn’t opaque, and there was moderate slip to the formula that made it harder to apply evenly, so there were faint, but visible, streaks along the edges of my lips. The liquid lipstick separated along my lip lines with some product settling there, which was noticeable in person and worsened slightly over time. It wore well for five and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.

I’m covered for Pitter-Ponder with UD PDA. Probably the coolest toned pink I use on any regular basis.
Both of these USLS’s lean a bit too cool for my coloring…and periwinkle looks hideous on me.
I really hate the color of Make Believe as a lip shade (just my personal opinion), but I think it would make a beautiful bedroom wall color. 🙂
Seraphine, it would be pretty as a wall covering.
LOL, I know from personal experience that it does make a beautiful bedroom wall color! 🙂
I can’t honestly say I am a fan of blue lipstick, but I am sure it would suit others. The pink shade is very pretty.
I will keep Make Believe in mind for the next time my hair is periwinkle, but it looks so dry! Of the two (looking dry or feeling dry), looking dry is preferable to me, but I’d much rather have neither.
