ColourPop Just a Crush & Soft Spot Ultra Blotted Liquid Lipstick Review & Swatches
Just a Crush
ColourPop Just a Crush Ultra Blotted Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was medium to semi-opaque, which was fairly in line with expectations. The liquid lipstick had a thin, spreadable texture but felt like it had a bit of silicone-like slip–a smooth, velvet-like feel, which helped it spread despite being so thin. It dried down quickly, and it was one of the more flattering finishes on my lips that I’ve tried in this formula, but it did have a tendency to catch on imperfections more noticeably. This shade stayed on nicely for five hours and was non-drying.

Formula Overview
$6.00/0.1 oz. - $60.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "medium coverage" and yield a "soft, diffused just-blotted look" that "dries matte, doesn't bodge, and feels soft and comfy on the lips." From the shades I've tried, the effect is exactly as described -- "a soft, diffused just-blotted look" with a matte finish. The consistency is thin but almost a little velvety as it spreads and dries down; it didn't feel as "wet" as most of their Liquid Lipstick formulas have. The formula dries down quickly and sets to a matte, transfer-resistant finish. The coverage varied from medium to semi-opaque, and the wear time was anywhere between four and six hours. The issue I have with them is the thinner, matte formula is more prone to emphasizing imperfections on my lips and lip lines. The formula is neither drying nor hydrating on me.

Just a Crush
LELimited Edition. $6.00.
Soft Spot
ColourPop Soft Spot Ultra Blotted Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium, pink-coral with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium color payoff, which was as described, paired with a thin consistency that felt a little “velvety” to me–like not as wet or as fluid as a typical liquid lipstick but still not dense. The color went on evenly, but there was a bit of product that sank into my deeper lip lines, and it caught on any imperfections. It wore well for four hours before wearing away noticeably and was neither drying nor hydrating on me.

Did this one leave any staining behind? I personally love an even stain because I need all the color I can get. I have the blotted lip in Zuma and it is just ok… looks great at first application and then disappears within an hour on me. I’d be willing to try another and Soft Spot is my type of color and you gave it a high rating and it sounds like it performs better than the one I have.
I didn’t notice a stain with Soft Spot, and it took longer for Just a Crush to fade away entirely.
Took me awhile, but I think I finally know what these Blotted Lips remind me of! When I apply my lip primer (or even standard Chapstick?) and then apply a favorite lip pencil over the entire lip after first defining the margins of my lips.
I think the color/finish combo of Just a Crush are lovely. It’s bright without being overwhelming.
LOL, I have Soft Spot on right now. They do take a tiny bit of attention to get a nice, even layer, I find.
I took a while to come around to the blotted lip formula (I didn’t like the stick ones they did first much) but these are nice!
