Kat Von D Hawkwind & Crucifix Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Hawkwind
Kat Von D Hawkwind Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium-dark plummy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation–nearly opaque–with a smooth, lightweight texture that wasn’t too thin or too thick. The color spread evenly across the lips, dried down to a flat, matte finish, and lasted for seven hours on me. It was slightly drying after five hours of wear.

Formula Overview
$20.00/0.22 oz. - $90.91 Per Ounce
It is supposed to be a “long-wear, full coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.” Of the liquid lipsticks on the market that go and have a full dry-down, Kat Von D’s formula remains my favorite, as it is the easiest to apply with the kindest learning curve and lasts awhile.
Some shades are more drying than others, but typically they don’t get drying until after five to six hours of wear. They often wear anywhere from six to ten hours, depending on what you’ve had to eat or drink during the day. This formula is thin but not watery, has a longer dry down than most liquid lipsticks (but I noticed some of the newer shades dried to a mostly dry finish faster), and layers better than most (you can touch-up or add a second layer for more coverage).
It takes about a minute for it to mostly set, but it will remain a little tacky in places for up to three minutes so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together if it doesn’t seem totally dry initially. There isn’t a noticeable scent or taste. If you don’t mind the trade-off between very long, near-pristine wear and being drying, it’s worth checking out. As a bonus, these also come with one of the most generous amounts of products within the realm of liquid lipsticks!

Crucifix
Kat Von D Crucifix Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is muted, dark burgundy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium, buildable coverage (two to three layers for opaque coverage) that went on somewhat evenly. I expected more out of this shade, as Kat Von D’s formula is usually good, but this shade could have applied better and lasted longer. It only wore well for six hours before fading too quickly from the center of the mouth (and normally, shades this dark run closer to eight hours of good wear). The formula was neither drying nor hydrating.

Both colors are pretty, love both, wish Crucifix had a better formula
They are pretty colors!
This range has been quite stunning so far 😉 I’m in love with the lighter nude shades but the quality of the KvD liquid lipsticks seem very top notch!
There are some nice shades in it!
Hawkwind looks nice! Too bad Crucifix fades so much faster.
Glad you liked one of them!
Hawkwind looks like a shade I could wear on the daily…. still need to try them in store. 🙂
I’m wondering if there’s an inconsistency in this first batch of these lipsticks because I have both crucifix and muneca ( which you also reported to be streaky) and neither are streaky/uneven and preform just as well as her other shades. The two I have swatch so much better as well, it’s so strange.
I’m so happy for you! 🙂
So I have a large number of the KVD ELLs and honestly they’re not very consistent when it comes to different shades. Hawkwind wears off in about an hour without any eating or drinking. I work as a card dealer in a casino and I cannot eat, drink, touch my mouth, touch up or even look in a mirror for an hour and a half at a time. I’ve had to stop wearing a large number of the shades because I get off my table and the entirety of the middle portion of my lips is worn and crusted away. -So- embarrassing.
I love the KVD brand too. Having this issue with so many of the (especially darker) shades is just heartbreaking. I wear them all the time if I’m not at work and can touch up very frequently but no chance otherwise. Not just you.
Oh I love both of these!
Yay! 🙂
Crucifix is a great color! I’m surprised that it began fading so quickly. :/
I was, too!
These are both RIGHT up my alley!! I love them!
Iv never tried KVD’s liquid lips before. I may need to swatch one of two next week when I’m at sephora!
Hope you can swatch them soon!
Hawkwind is lovely! If it’s not as drying as Lolita, I’m good with it. So far, I do really want to check out Sanctuary from this spring collection, but now I may need to give this a road test, too.
Either one would work on your coloring, I think!
This past Saturday, at the urging of the SA telling me that it looked great on me, plus the fact that it didn’t feel powdery or weird, I bought Sanctuary. But the next day, in regular daylight, it looks horrid on me. Too “greyish”. Back it goes to exchange for Hawkwind. Which I believe will actually look great! Hoping the comfort level is the same, though.
Both of these are beautiful colors, especially Crucifix.
They are pretty shades!
Hawkwind is nice but my lizard lips probably can’t handle it!
I hear ya 😉
I like the colours, but I find the formula too drying for my lips. I can wear the few liquid KvD lipsticks I have a few hours, after that it’s just drives me nuts how dry and uncomfortable the lips feels. Quite annoying, really.
Totally understand, Helene! KVD’s liquid formula is my favorite, but they aren’t perfect!
I will have to check out Hawkwind for sure.
Btw, LOVE the eye look here, Christina! It’s gorgeous!
Thanks, Lacey!
I bought Hawkwind and it must’ve been from a bad batch or something, The colour was way more brown and darker, and it didn’t dry down and came off as soon as I ate
I have both colors & I agree that Crucifix is a less opaque than Hawkwind. It’s a beautiful color, but I noticed that I have to let the 1st layer dry before applying the 2nd. It does fade in the middle after several hours of wear. It’s still a gorgeous color & good formula, it just needs a little maneuvering. Thank you for reviewing them???.
