Estee Lauder Hot Chills, Drop Dead Red, Bad Angel Hi-Lustre Pure Color Envy Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Hot Chills (310)
Estee Lauder Hot Chills (310) Hi-Lustre Pure Color Envy Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark orange with warm, red undertones and fine, coppery gold pearl. It had medium color coverage with a lightly glossy finish and moderate slip. The texture was thinner without feeling clingy or wearing away easily. It wore well for four and a half hours and was nicely moisturizing over time. There was a touch of color that sat in my lip lines but wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance as the color blended in with the lip color.

Formula Overview
$32.00/0.12 oz. - $266.67 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have medium coverage with a lustrous finish. It took the Pure Color Envy formula and added shimmer to it with the end result varying from lightly pearlized to more frosted and near-metallic. The shimmer was finer in size, so the lipsticks did not feel gritty on the lips, and the particles didn’t migrate as the lipstick wore down.
The coverage ranged from semi-sheer to nearly opaque, so it really depended on the shade on how true it was to medium coverage. The formula felt lightly creamy, thinner but not clingy, and with just enough slip to be comfortable to apply and to wear without feeling slippery during wear. The shades lasted from four to six hours and usually hydrating while worn.
The formula had a vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Drop Dead Red (320)
Estee Lauder Drop Dead Red (320) Hi-Lustre Pure Color Envy Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bold, bright, medium-dark red with subtle, warm undertones and fine red pearl. It appeared darker applied than it seemed swatched. The texture was light-medium in feel and weight, so it covered evenly and didn’t drag when applied, but it didn’t feel clingy or thin. This shade had semi-opaque color coverage that wore for six hours and left behind a stain.

Bad Angel (330)
Estee Lauder Bad Angel (330) Hi-Lustre Pure Color Envy Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, light-medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a soft, pearly sheen. It was surprisingly pigmented–one of the most pigmented in the range with nearly opaque coverage–with a thicker, creamier texture that was heavier in look but never actually felt heavy or uncomfortable on the lips. This shade wore well for four and a half hours and was moisturizing over time.

Formula Overview
Estee Lauder Hi-Lustre Pure Color Envy Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is supposed to have medium coverage with a lustrous finish. It takes the Pure Color Envy and adds shimmer to it with the end result varying from lightly pearlized to more frosted and near-metallic. The shimmer is finer, so the lipsticks do not feel gritty on the lips, and the particles don’t migrate as the lipstick wears down. I would describe the coverage as more semi-opaque overall, though a lighter hand could achieve more medium coverage and two layers would give you near-to opaque coverage. It is lightly creamy with some slip that is more noticeable as the formula warms up against the lips. The wear ranged from four to six hours and was typically hydrating. The formula features a vanilla scent but no discernible taste.
Bad angel kind of speaks to me. 😉
I love the finish! 🙂
Ooh I loooove Bad Angel 😀
It’s nice! Reminds me of summer.
I’ve really liked this formula since swatching several shades recently — good strong color but with degree of gloss and sheerness that works for me. Hot Chills and Naked Ambition are on my wish list.
I find it super wearable! And it’s nice to have something hydrating after so many matte lipsticks!
Oh I love the hint of sparkle in each one. And all of them are pretty!
They are!
Hey Christine, FYI – the shade names in the last 2 titles and reviews aren’t matching up on my end – the link under Bad Angel is listed as Pretty Shocking, and the link under Drop Dead Red is listed as Sheer Sin.
Sorry, that’s my stupidity, not the site’s! It shoudl be fixed.
If I didn’t already own 2 full tubes of UD Revolution formula Streak….I would absolutely have to have Bad Angel! That is one very sexy shade of coral-pink! Who knows? I may still get it, Streak appears to be quite a bit lighter. ?
I love Chili …pretty
It is a fun pop of color!
Loving the colors, the shimmer, and finish. Hot Chills is especially beautiful with the gold flecks.
I love the pearl in Hot Chills!
These are all gorgeous shades, especially for spring and summer. They look so beautiful on you Christine.
Thank you, Genevieve!
Hot chills! Yes on you. Yes, period. You are looking as if you haven’t even been working 16 hours/day! Just gorgeous in all 3 of these. Taraji looks great. Think it won’t come for me. Think I got a refund. At least I got burnt pepper at last, same order and both dupes. Silly. Clearly I can live without Taraji. OFF TOPIC: If anyone looked at Ulta new releases today, for ‘coming soon’ they had NARS multiple and blush. Psych! Hope they get more of the line, but U has quite a few limited selection lines.
Bad Angel and Drop Dead Red were my 2 favorites out of this group but I do prefer a bit more red and less orange overall. The quality sounds great.
Christine, I know you answer this periodically but my brain keeps letting it fall out. You always post 4 closeups of lips for each color. There are differences. Could you state what the difference is in order and I promise to save it somewhere. (I strongly suspect #3 is natural lips) Thanks. ❤
I think these are really pretty — especially Hot Chills and Bad Angel — but not good colors for me personally.
All three are nice, Bad Angel is they type of thing I wish I could pull off!
