Los Angeles Lakers

ColourPop Los Angeles Lakers 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($14.00 for 0.32 oz.) is a new, limited edition yellow and purple-themed color story that contained four shimmery eyeshadows and five more matte eyeshadows. This palette was a bit of a mixed bag; while most shades were opaque, they often had drier and more powdery textures, so they had fallout or did not apply as evenly as expected. It’s definitely a palette that I’d make sure to use with an eyeshadow primer and then use a dampened brush with all of the shimmers.

Minneapolis

Minneapolis is a light beige with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that applied fairly evenly to bare skin, but the texture was somewhat powdery and prone to sheering out. This shade showed signs of fading after seven hours of wear.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a pale gold with warmer undertones and a frosted finish. The eyeshadow felt more loosely-pressed into the pan, which resulted in some powderiness and a tendency for the eyeshadow to sheer out from its more semi-opaque natural state. It stayed on well for seven hours before fading visibly.

0.4 is a medium-dark orange with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was lightly powdery, but it was smooth, blendable, and easy enough to use with a lighter hand to minimize fallout. It had opaque color coverage that wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

MVP

MVP is a light-medium, yellowy gold with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation with a more loosely-pressed texture, so there was some excess powder kicked up in the pan that translated to minimal fallout when blended out on bare skin. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

81 Points

81 Points is a bright, violet purple with cooler undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was denser, firmer, and thicker overall, which gave it a stiff feel that made it a challenge to pick up product and deposit it evenly onto bare skin without an uneven application of product and moderate fallout. It had more opaque coverage, but you’ll need to use it with a dampened brush to achieve a similar look on the eye. It lasted for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing." The way the Pressed Pigments differ is that they're not intended for usage on the immediate eye area.

The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blend out fairly well, and can sometimes be a bit drier/more powdery compared to typical matte shades. They often wear eight to nine hours on me before fading, but many shades in the Pressed Pigment family leave some staining behind.

NOTICE: All products categorized under "Pigment" carry a warning in the US that the product is "not intended for use in the immediate eye area." Brands in the US typically market these products as "Pigments" (instead of "Eyeshadow"), and there is often a warning on the back of packaging or the label. The product includes color additives that are not approved for usage on the eyes per the FDA. Some color additives in "Pigments" have no usage restrictions in the EU, per CosIng, and can be used on the eyes. The Triangle

The Triangle is a light purple with subtle, cool undertones and a frosted finish. The eyeshadow had full color payoff in a single layer, but the texture was drier and chunkier, which resulted in noticeable fallout during application and made it more challenging to spread the eyeshadow out evenly. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.
