ColourPop x Hello Kitty Hello Pretty Set Review, Photos, Swatches
ColourPop Yummy Cookies Super Shock Cheek
Hello Pretty
ColourPop Hello Pretty Makeup Set ($42.00) includes two cheek products, three eyeshadows, and two lip colors. It is presently sold out (I’m writing this the day before), but there’s supposed to be a restock for the Hello Kitty collection at 10AM PST today (11/16), so you might want to keep your eye out if it’s on your list!
Overall, it’s a nice set! I didn’t have any issues with longevity across the included products, and they were, largely, consistent with past experiences with the Super Shock formula (pigmented, blendable, long-wearing) and Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick (long-wearing, pigmented but drying).

Yummy Cookies
Yummy Cookies is a muted, light-medium peach with warm, brownish undertones and a pearly sheen. It had opaque color coverage with a soft, smooth, and moderately emollient texture that glided on easily. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me.

The formula is supposed to have "buildable" coverage and can be applied with fingertips (which will yield "higher coverage") or a brush (for sheerer coverage). It's a cream-based product that has a subtle, "wet" feel to it but never has the thickness of a true cream-based blush. It goes on with the smoothness of a cream formulation but diffuses and blends (without lifting up one's base) more like a powder product. The product sets to a powder finish, so the product won't slide around during the day. On me, the wear tends to be between eight and 10 hours. Most shades have medium, buildable pigmentation with some being semi-opaque to opaque on occasion. They are typically blendable, easy to use, and long-wearing.

Fun with Friends
Fun With Friends is a medium pink-coral with cooler, pink shimmer and a warmer base. It had good pigmentation with a soft, smooth texture that was blendable, lightly emollient, and easy to work with on bare skin (or over a base). The color wore well for just over nine hours on me.

Juicy Apple
Juicy Apple is a light gold with a lighter, white base and gold sparkle. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, and it was harder to buildup coverage as it had a wetter, more slippery texture that was prone to sheering out. I would recommend using this more as a layering shade over a stronger base color or all-over the lid as a wash. On its own, it wore well for nine hours with no creasing or fading and minimal fall out.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.
From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).
The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque in coverage, though they're often buildable. They can be a little hard to diffuse the edges of, though some are lovely to work with.
The more glittery shades have been the weakest to me, as they can be sheerer or harder to apply. Sometimes, they are more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often, they are sheerer and only function well patted on top of more pigmented eyeshadows to add glitter. They do, however, tend to have little fallout over time with the occasional shade having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most powder eyeshadows with glitter).

Sticker Sheet is a medium brown with warmer, yellow undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had semi-opaque coverage, which was somewhat buildable, but it wasn’t as pigmented as a lot of the brand’s eyeshadows have been. The texture was soft, blendable, and smooth, but it was a little drier. This shade was till going strong after ten hours of wear.

Bento Box
Bento Box is a medium-dark gray with a pearly sheen. It had opaque color payoff with a smooth, lightly emollient texture that was easy to apply to bare skin. The texture didn’t blend out quite as evenly as I would have liked; it looked a smidgen patchy at times. I didn’t have any issues with wear, though, and it was still the same ten hours later.

KT
KT is a light, golden beige with lots of pink and gold sparkle. It is supposed to have a “sheer” finish, which is apt, as it had sheer to semi-sheer coverage. It would work well layered over other lip colors, but it went on evenly on its own, so it was wearable as a standalone product, too. The color wore well for four hours on me and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$10.00/0.11 oz. - $90.91 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "hi-shine" with a "non-sticky" texture that "feels amazing" and includes five finishes "from 3-D pearl to sheer tinted colour." They are designed to be a sheerer formula, so many shades are sheer with a smattering of shimmer or sparkle and then a few are more tinted with sheer to semi-sheer coverage but no shimmer. Each gloss has a short, brush-type applicator, which worked better than I expected and didn't leave streaky results behind (in general). They had a sweet, vanilla scent but no discernible taste.
The "Tinted" finish ("glass-like shine with tint of sheer colour and no shimmer") was the least consistent--sometimes prone to unevenness and getting into lip lines, particularly with deeper/richer shades, whereas Pearlescent ("glass-like shine with subtle shimmer") and Prismatic ("glass-like shine with floating multi dimensional pearl and glitters") are sheer to translucent with the major difference being finer shimmer in the Pearlescent finish and larger, more glitter-like particles in the Prismatic finish. Both finishes tended to look plush and more smoothing on my lips. The Creme finish is a "medium-coverage gloss with a creamy finish that does not contain any pearls or glitter." The Metallic is described as a "full-coverage gloss with a mix of pearl and metallic finishes."
The wear time varied by shade but the sheerer ones tended to wear between two and three hours as the formula was, indeed, non-sticky and smooth, which made them lighter-weight and comfortable to wear but shorter wearing. A lot of the sheerer shades ran together, so I would recommend just picking up one or two rather than several as the differences are likely to be lost! Also, keep in mind that sheerer lip colors can look different from person to person due to much of the natural lip color coming through.

KT
LELimited Edition. $10.00.
Ribbon
Ribbon is a deep red with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. The color coverage was nearly opaque, though there was a bit of my lip freckle peeking through. The consistency was thin without being watery or runny, so it was easily spread across the lips but dried to an even, streak-free finish. It wore for over eight hours but felt drying after five hours on me.

Formula Overview
$6.50/0.11 oz. - $59.09 Per Ounce
It is a long-wearing, pigmented lipstick that starts off glossy and dries down quickly to that super flat matte finish. They have minimal transfer with some of the lighter shades having almost none for the first few hours of wear, but any time you’ve had a meal, they lose that transfer-resistant quality to a noticeable degree. They tend to wear anywhere from six to ten hours with darker shades maintaining better color coverage and wear over a longer period of time.
Some shades get a little drying about two-thirds to three-fourths through the wear, while a few shades have been fairly non-drying even many hours into wear. They fade away evenly with most color loss occurring from the center of the lips if eating a more oil-based meal but the majority of color survives a meal.
Reapplication has been hit or miss and tends to depend on how well it wore away and how easily the shade applies normally, but reapplication tends to emphasize the lip’s natural texture significantly compared to initial application and gives lips a very wrinkled, dried-up look. I’ve layered gloss on top of some shades with moderate success, though it will obviously lose the matte finish and will transfer and I’ll get tiny flakes where the matte lip color has lifted by mixing with gloss but has been pretty minimal. The formula had no discernible taste or scent.

I’m impressed! Fun With Friends is so pretty! And even though gray isn’t my color I really like Bento Box.
Bento Box is the one that throws me! No idea how to incorporate that one with the rest, lol!
I have this set, and it’s awesome!! I think this set is the star of the collection. I just wish the design on that metallic blue box was on the packaging itself, as the packaging is plain, prefer OTT kawaii. I mean, this is a Hello Kitty collection for goodness sakes! I’m keeping the pretty box on my vanity. It’s a bit bulky but can also be re-used as a travel kit for other CP products. And I’m normally not a fan of sheer, glittery glosses, but loving KT because, hello, it’s my initials !! Even if this set was crap, I would have to get it because of the gloss LOL
So glad you got yours, Katherine! 🙂
Great timing – I saw this set on their Twitter page and was eyeing it since I don’t presently own anything ColourPop… good to know that it’s Temptalia approved 😉
Yay! 🙂
Hi Christine!
What is the packaging like?
I really like Colour Pop’s sturdier cardboard packaging and I have a few from previous collections which I actually use to store jewelry.
I was wondering if the packaging on this set is similar to some of the sturdy packaging on other Colour Pop sets.
Thanks!
Sorry, I did not receive the packaging. I just got the products!
Hey Helen,
If you look at my comment, I described the packaging for this set 🙂
I didn’t even think to compare the box this one came in to the other few I have stowed away from past collections, but I’m pretty confident they are identical, aside from the way they are decorated. It’s that sturdy box with the flip top that magnetizes closed. I would say it’s roughly (I don’t have it in front of me, so don’t take my word) about 7″ x 7″, so a good size.
I just had this arrive today but it was my first Colourpop order. I was surprised by how sturdy the cardboard is- for other brands this would be fine to put an eyeshadow tray insert into to creat e a palette and it had a mirror in the lid. I want to see if I can remove the foam which holds the products so I can reuse the box!
This set is perfect as a holiday gift ! i also see myself using it a lot to do my new year’s eve makeup ! Bento Box is a very beautiful shade even though it is a little bit hard to blend.
It would be! And the packaging seems like a good box to give it in!
Good to know on the restock! I’m going over right now, as this looks like a fun set (I especially like KT gloss and the shadows)
I was so relieved when I saw they were restocking!
Love it all except, of course, the liquid matte lipstick. Especially the KT lipgloss and that gorgeous blush!
I love the COLOR of the liquid matte but wish it wasn’t that formula – hello, Ultra Satin, please!!
Hi Christine!
I bought this set because I’m an avid Hello Kitty fan and have been since I was a kid, and it doesn’t help that I’m also a horrible impulse buyer of all things Colourpop. I honestly am having to hold myself back from buying a few of those sheer glosses and that metallic lip. I really wish I’d been able to snag the makeup bag too! I just noticed it’s back in stock so fingers crossed I can snag it!
While I do like this set and the Konnichiwa lippie, I really wasn’t impressed with the swatches I saw of the other shadows in the smaller “Mama’s Apple Pie” set. I really, really wish they’d had a little more fun with the shade selections and I don’t know why they didn’t decide to do something fun with an eyeliner shade!
As for the packaging (if anyone else is curious), the “Hello Pretty” set comes in one of their sturdy magnetized flip boxes that you can reuse for jewelry (if you pull out the foam insert). I believe it’s the exact same type of box that housed some of the previous sets I bought from Colourpop. The “cover” is a deep metallic blue, criss-crossed with red bows, a few Hello Kitty images and has “Colourpop x Hello Kitty” on the front. The inside is red and has a big mirror nearly the size of the box. I know the insert that holds the products in place has faint bow images all over, but I’m unsure if it looks the same underneath it. Overall, it is very cute and great if you’re looking for something to reuse. 🙂
Thank you so much, Kimmyyy!! Appreciate the info 🙂
Hi Kimmyyy,
Thank you so much for your description of the packaging!
I can totally relate to having to hold myself back. I wanted all of it. I think based on what you have said, I will probably only get the Hello Pretty set if it is still available 🙂
Thanks again!
Ribbon is BEAUTIFUL. I already found my HG red, But this is so beautiful !!!
It is gorgeous!
I don’t know! I really like the eye colors, especially also with Bento Box and Rainbow, but I don’t especially want the other products! I could use Fun With Friends, since it doesn’t lean too warm, and layer KT over other lip colors, but I really wouldn’t use the other two products much, especially when I’ve already got warm peachy brown cheek colors from the EE Glow Kit.
I meant with School Bus, not Bento Box! Their sets are not making sense to me… I wish these products were available individually!
Bento Box is the one color I think could have been substituted for something else – it doesn’t fit as well with the set, IMO!
This is super cute!
I had it in my cart but took it out at the last minute and got new holiday stuff instead. I might have to go back for this while they still have free international shipping…
It is! I don’t know if it’s really that different from other things they’ve done, but it turned out well nonetheless!
I wish Bento Box was a single!
Aww!
I was tempted to buy this set but I don’t really use cheek products and the eyeshadows aren’t anything different from what I already have
I got the eyeshadow quad and 2 lippies though, the lippies are really meh. I wish they sold the matte red separately… The one they have has shimmer in it
Why didn’t you like the lipsticks, Connie?
This is a really gorgeous little set to take travelling with you. Love the shades, especially Bento. It is quite a good deal and the products rate well.
It is a good deal!
I feel like I’ve see a million red lipsticks here and usually find it hard to get excited about them, but ribbon is quite striking!
It’s a really deep, cool shade!
Aw, I’d really like this set, but it probably won’t be available for anyone to gift it to me. And I can never justify buying gift sets for myself this time of year! At least it’s mostly pretty dupeable, but I love me some Hello Kitty.
It is definitely more dupable!
