ColourPop Orchid You Not Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Orchid You Not
ColourPop Orchid You Not 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($14.00 for 0.32 oz.) is an orchid-themed palette that included five matte shades and four shimmer shades. The quality was consistent with past ColourPop releases; the mattes were lightly powdery but pigmented, blendable, and easy enough to work with, while some of the shimmers were more loosely-pressed or drier, so there was potential for fallout. I was happy to discover that the shades didn’t seem too redundant once I had applied them, which can be an issue with more monochromatic palettes.

Pretty One
Pretty One is a light lavender with warm undertones and warmer, contrasting gold sparkle. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage with a moderately soft, somewhat drier texture that resulted in some frostiness when applied dry. It was smoother and less prone to fallout when applied with a fingertip or a dampened brush. It wore nicely for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing." The way the Pressed Pigments differ is that they're not intended for usage on the immediate eye area.
The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blend out fairly well, and can sometimes be a bit drier/more powdery compared to typical matte shades. They often wear eight to nine hours on me before fading, but many shades in the Pressed Pigment family leave some staining behind.

Moth
Moth is a medium-dark, reddish-plum with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was moderately powdery with some dryness, though it applied better to bare skin than I expected as it went on evenly, built up with light fallout, and blended out without much effort along the edges. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

OMG
OMG is a darker red with warmer undertones and cooler fuchsia pink sparkle throughout. It had a softer, more loosely-pressed texture that resulted in some fallout during application with a dry brush, so use a fingertip or a dampened brush if that is a concern. It had opaque color coverage that stayed on decently for eight hours.

Nuh Uh
Nuh Uh is a rich burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that could be built up with a second layer, though it was very soft to the point where it had some powderiness and light fallout during blending, so I’d recommend using a light hand and gently building up to avoid fallout. It lasted well for eight and a half hours and left a faint stain behind.

I LOVE this one. I might order it! It fills a lot of holes in my collection.
I think this palette and the whole collection is beautiful, and cohesive.
I adore this! The colors are my green-eyed match. But I have enough palettes to last me three lifetimes.
I actually think that CP has done this shade justice – everything looks pretty good and you could definitely work this palette with any others you have. I really liked the richness of the Seedling shade too.
On one hand, I really love this palette a ton. On the other, I also realize that it may be a little lazy on my part considering that I can dupe at least 4-5 shades across multiple palettes in my possession. I think we already know that I’m probably going to go the lazy route! Who can say?
This is so lovely. Few of SP’s offerings tempt me, but this one does, a lot!
A quick read through the dupes and I could find only one dupe, MAC Cranberry for Seedling. I will take a closer look, but might actually turn my no buy into a temporary low buy for this one, and toss in some of the lipsticks just because even with shipping, tax and fee it’s not very expensive to buy from CP.
Wow! Beautiful.
