ColourPop Brooklyn & So Wavy Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
ColourPop Brooklyn Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick
ColourPop Brooklyn Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright hot pink.” It’s a bold, bright, medium-dark warm, fuchsia pink with a semi-matte finish. It was rich color payoff with full coverage that applied evenly. The consistency was thin and then “dried” to a mostly matte finish–less satiny than many others shades in the formula–that was lightly tacky but didn’t lift color when I pressed my lips together. The color was still going strong after seven hours of wear, and it was neither drying nor hydrating. KVD Beauty Berlin (P, $20.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (90% similar). MAC To Matte with Love (P, $21.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Possession (Right) (LE, ) is glossier (95% similar). Tarte Bikini (P, $22.00) is darker (90% similar). ColourPop Mars (DC, $6.50) is darker, brighter, cooler (90% similar). Hourglass I Always (P, $34.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (90% similar). Estee Lauder Jealous (P, $32.00) is darker, brighter, glossier (90% similar). Tarte So Fetch (P, $20.00) is warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Toucan (LE, $7.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty L'Enfer (P, $60.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (90% similar). Make Up For Ever M301 (DC, $22.00) is darker (90% similar). Tarte Selfish (P, $20.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Pat McGrath Psycho Candy (LE, $40.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Electric Poppy (P, $37.00) is darker (85% similar). NARS Greta (P, $34.00) is brighter, glossier (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Jared (P, $36.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Watermelon (P, $28.00) is warmer (85% similar). Maybelline All Fired Up (P, $7.99) is darker (85% similar). Chanel Infrarose (72) (DC, $45.00) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar). MAC Dangerously Red (P, $19.00) is more muted (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
ColourPop So Wavy Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “vibrant blue purple.” It’s a bold, bright, medium-dark violet purple with strong, cool undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage with a thin, spreadable consistency, but the texture was noticeably thinner than other shades in the same formula. It was more prone to emphasizing lip lines, and it’s one that I would recommend applying a second pass of for greater opacity and a smoother, overall finish. The color still wore for over six hours with even fading, but it was a little drying. Bite Beauty Lavender Jam (DC, $26.00) is lighter, glossier (85% similar). Anastasia Violet (LE, $20.00) is darker, more muted, less glossy (85% similar). Bite Beauty Nearly Neon Purple (LE, $26.00) is lighter, warmer, glossier (85% similar). MAC Matte Royal (LE, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Too Faced Who's Zoomin' Who (P, $21.00) is darker, more muted, less glossy (80% similar). KVD Beauty Roxy (P, $19.00) is warmer, glossier (80% similar). MAC 4Eva (P, $19.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
FORMULA OVERVIEW | ColourPop Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a “lightweight, bold lipstick with a satin finish” that is “extra intense colour saturation” and “long-wearing,” but the brand is quick to note that it is “not completely kiss proof.” The consistency is very light to lightweight with a thin to mousse-like consistency–they feel a little heavier going on than the Ultra Matte formula, but they don’t feel heavy on. They dry down somewhat, but it isn’t a full, flat dry down like matte liquid lipsticks, and when you press your lips together, there is moderate tackiness there, but I didn’t notice any lifting or separating of color by doing so. Thus far, they have been extremely long-wearing and comfortable to wear for the most part–it’s after ten hours or so that I notice my lips feeling a little dry–but six hours into wear and the colors have looked good post-meals/post-drinking. I think if you like the idea of longer-wearing, mostly matte lip color but find most liquid lipsticks too drying or too flat while not needing an ultra-hydrating formula, you might like these.

I LOVE that purple, and it seems to be much better quality than some of their other purple-y shades.
Very true!
Christine hi! I know this is an old post, I was just trying to find a way to comment to you. I was wondering if you ever considered reviewing more Nyx products, specifically their liquid suede lip cream, soft matte lip cream and lip lingerie? They have awesome liquid lipsticks that are often dupes to high ends, as well as their eyeshadows. Thanks! 🙂
Can anyone comment on the similarities of So Wavy to Jeffree Star’s I’m Royalty?
Hopefully someone can help!
I’ve heard So Wavy is bluer (so somewhere in between I’m Royalty and Blue Velvet, really) and obviously less matte.
I love Brooklyn. From the original pictures I saw, I thought So Wavy was going to be blue. It’s actually not bad for a purple, but I think I’ll stick with Jeffree Star I’m Royalty.
Ah, sounds like you already have something similar!
Going by the pictures I’ve seen of So Wavy swatched, I think it’s pretty close to I’m Royalty as far as color. The quality and opacity of I’m Royalty is much better. I haven’t found any comparisons done by anyone yet, though. I can always mix it with Blue Velvet, if I want it even more blue toned.
Ha, I was just wondering what the similarities were between So Wavy and I’m Royalty. Thanks for the tip!
These are on the way to me. Sadly , I’m not loving So Wavy too much. I could see it working other people or maybe it will work mixed with another shade. But, at least I didn’t blow a ton of $ on it!
That is the nice part about CP – not too much wasted if the shade isn’t one you’d wear all the time! What were you hoping So Wavy to be?
Haha..good question! I’ll give it a go. 🙂
I love the purple on you!
Thanks, Brooke!
I need both of these lip colors in my life. They are so pretty.
Enjoy ’em, Chantel!
SO WAVY is soo weird. I’ve seen so many colourpop videos and this shade looks blue in all of them. lol
The Ultra Satins are on my wishlist for next year… when I have a job again. lol
It is really blue-based! I get a little purple-tint out of it, though.
It’s definitely a Blurple shade.
Oh heck to the YASSS! To both! I think May is gonna be a lot of fun!
TBH, I think I love Brooklyn much more than Naked Ladies. Even the NAME speaks to me. It has been 11 years since I last was over in Brooklyn. Or NYC. Or NJ. Homesick to death!
Aww! 🙂
So Wavy is such a cool color!
Isn’t it?
I love the look of these! However, the formula doesn’t agree with my lips. It’s just too dry. Not for everyone, or even most people, but if like me you have constant very dry lips then they might not be for you. Which is a shame because there are loads of awesome shades. Maybe just try one to see how your lips fare. ?
Oh nooo! 🙁
*fans self* Holy $hit… Those are exceptional! The smoothness of So Wavy makes me want it even more! I’ve not worn a true purple lip since the 90’s but that just looks wearable for everyday.
So Wavy is a really cool shade!
Brooklyn is SOOO pretty! What a nice summer colour!
I agree with you there, Sheila!
I’m so happy ColourPop released more shades into the Ultra Satin Lip line—they’re so pretty! So Wavy looks so much more wearable than it did initially! 🙂
Me too!! 🙂
SO WAVY, SO Dreammy!! This colour is something that every company seems to be coming out with!
I agree!
Beautiful! I want both of these, even though I already have a dupe for Brooklyn (NARS Greta). One of the wonderful things about these Colour Pop lippies is how easily mixable they are. Now it doesn’t matter that Who’s Zoomin’ Who was such a disappointment!
