Coloured Raine Lovelies Mini Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Lovelies
Coloured Raine Lovelies Mini Eyeshadow Palette ($36.00 for 0.32 oz.) is a cooler-toned palette with a mix of ivory, pink, gray, red, and blue. It was better than the prior two palettes I reviewed, but it was still a more challenging palette and did not blend out nearly as easily as I would have expected, given my past experience with the brand’s eyeshadow formula.

Pure
Pure is a bright white with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was somewhat powdery, but it was soft and blendable with only slight fallout. The pigmentation was nearly opaque and buildable. On me, it stayed on well for eight hours.

Formula Overview

2022 Formula: The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented" and "blendable" with a "butterly smooth" feel. The majority of the matte eyeshadows were quite pigmented, while some of the shimmers were overly emollient, which resulted in sheerer and/or uneven coverage.
The matte eyeshadows have a bit of dryness to them, though they were pigmented and fairly blendable, but they tended to apply best over an eyeshadow primer, which ensured a better base for them to adhere to. The shimmer eyeshadows were best applied with fingertips or a flat, firm (and sometimes dampened) brush and pressed/patted into place, then lightly blended.
I did not love the two finishes paired together as the matte finish was thinner and more powdery compared to the thicker, denser shimmers, so the shimmers often "erased" the matte eyeshadows when blended out.
The formula was different than the brand's original single pan formula that they originally debuted with, and I preferred their original formula overall, though the new one is decent, just not as foolproof to work with.
Original formula review: The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented, long-lasting, and blendable" and come in a variety of finishes. Most their eyeshadows are semi-opaque to opaque with a smooth, blendable textures that are easy to use and apply well to bare skin. The shimmers are slightly dense and creamier to the touch compared to the mattes, which aren't thin but don't have the same amount of slip. They tend to wear between eight and nine hours on me.

Hi Cutie
Hi Cutie is light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer paired with a dense, more cream-like texture that was on the thicker side but remained blendable and had good, even adhesion to the lid without a lot of work. This shade wore well for eight hours on me before creasing.

Daydreaming
Daydreaming is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, but it was buildable to semi-opaque coverage with two to three layers. The texture was drier and dusty, which meant it took a bit more work to get it apply evenly to bare skin. It started to fade on me after seven hours of wear.

Misty Nights
Misty Nights is a dirty, medium gray with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semii-sheer, buildable color payoff with a powdery texture that had a lot of fallout as it did not adhere that well to bare skin. The eyeshadow was somewhat improved over a primer, but it was never stellar. It lasted for seven hours on me.

Misty Nights
LELimited Edition. $6.99.
Love Love
Love Love is a rich, medium-dark red with warm, coppery undertones and a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented, while the texture was cream-like, fairly dense, and took some finagling to blend and diffuse on the lid, as the edges appeared ragged as I tried to diffuse them rather than appearing as a seamless gradient. It wore well for eight hours before creasing.

Love Love
LELimited Edition. $6.99.
Romance
Romance is a brighter, dark navy blue with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had a tendency to fade a bit when applied to the skin, and when combined with some of the other pinks in the palette, it turned more purplish than blue (also the end result of so many attempts to use the lighter shades to blend into it instead of blending it into lighter shades). The texture was drier, almost chalky, and extremely difficult to blend–I spent 10 minutes try to diffuse the edges and get the blue to sit evenly on my lid to little success. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before fading (well, more than it initially did).

Interesting color combo for a palette, sad that it didn’t perform well.
I’m not buying any more eyeshadow palettes that have red and/or black. Perhaps needless to say, I’m saving a TON of money these past few months!
Oooh, my Lovelies was better than yours but I felt it was a limited use and disconnected palette.
I beg to differ. This palette out of the 4 is my go to. I love the variety of cool tones. I think people are used to warm colors and tend to shy away from bold colors making it very intimidating. This palette imo rates A+++
I didn’t find the palette intimidating personally – I have used pretty much every color under the sun over the years 🙂
Glad it’s working for you!
The reviews so far are making me glad that none of these palettes caught my eye!
Hello Christine et. al.,
I had high hopes for this palette of all there minis and it’s a shame it just didn’t cut it. I’m glad though, as I already broke down and bought two palettes I hadn’t planned, ABH Prism that I had poor results with at first until I found Kendrick’s ABH Prism Cool Tones Look on your site, plus looks by An Knook on You Tube with the same palette (note that she and Elmear McElheron do such awesome precision eye looks) and am now really liking, and today’s buy which I’ll go to your review and discuss, Nars Man Ray’s “Love Game”, which I like a lot. Thanks again for a review that helped me say no. 😉
This palette has just never quite moved me with its rather bizarre color combination. It just looks “off”. Or like someone wanted to put some sort of patriotic colors of the flag in a palette together?
Which is why I’m surprised at the beautiful eye look that you somehow managed to get out of this odd man out!
The first thing I noticed when I saw this palette was red, white, and blue!! Interesting mix. It’s too bad these Coloured Raine palettes have gotten such low ratings.
How sad to see it score so low. I have been watching these. The QOH is so lovely, i expected these to be the same. Thanks for the review!
This little palette is choc full of random shades that don’t seem to be cohesive at all. I love my blue eyeshadows, but the one in this palette is a shade that I would never use.
I think it’s easy to pass this one.
Lovely eye look Christine.
This selection of shadow colors just doesn’t appeal to me.
I grabbed this one and the Berry one. I use primer so I think it will perform better for me. I only used the matte pink to supplement one of the Pat McGrath palettes and it worked well for me. The Berry one I think I’m going to give away as a Christmas present. Seeing it in person wasn’t as appealing as it was online.
Yeah, I went back with primer but still struggled with the mini palettes 🙁
??? oh no! Well I’m happy that I didn’t grab all 4 then. I started to but since I own the Queen of Hearts palette and a dozen other warm tone palettes I decided not to.
I’m glad I didn’t get these right off!
I LOOOOOOVE your look of this and saved it as my screen protector! that good!
