Clionadh Cosmetics 66.5° N Eyeshadows Reviews & Swatches (Part 2)
Midnight Sun
Clionadh Midnight Sun Metallic Eyeshadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark red with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was very creamy–felt more like a cream-powder hybrid than a true powder eyeshadow!–and had slip to the touch.
It yielded opaque color payoff in a single layer, which adhered well to bare skin and blended out nicely along the edge (without becoming uneven or moving around too much, as some emollient formulas are prone to doing). I also had no trouble picking it up with a dry brush, though I’d recommend something with a slightly fluffier edge for better pickup. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview
$6.00/0.05 oz. - $120.00 Per Ounce
There do not appear to be any specific claims made for the brand's regular eyeshadow range, so being held to typical industry claims (as well as looking at the brand swatches), I'd expect rich pigmentation along with being blendable. The brand has an assortment of finishes, and the price point varies from finish to finish and has some variance within finish as well, but they tend to range from $6.00 CAD to $8.00 CAD, which converts to around $5.00 to $7.00 USD.
The more shimmery formulas were similar; they tended to be dense, lightly creamy, and blendable with excellent pigmentation and minimal chance of fallout. Some of the more sparkly shades felt more loosely-pressed while a few metallics were more emollient to the touch. They typically wore between eight and eight and a half hours on me before fading visibly (without primer).

Caribou
Clionadh Caribou Shimmer Metallic Eyeshadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light-medium, golden bronze with warm undertones and a smooth, metallic finish. It had excellent pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin while blending out with ease.
The consistency felt soft, lightly creamy to the touch without being too firmly nor too softly pressed into the pan. The color showed signs of fading after eight hours of wear.

Sublimate
Clionadh Sublimate Matte Pressed Pigment ($4.50 for 0.06 oz.) is a very light green with subtle, warmer yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had a moderate powderiness to it, which resulted in more medium coverage, but it seemed to build up decently over bare skin (and a bit better over primer) with only light fallout. It lasted for seven hours before fading a bit.
As a FYI, the back of the pan said “face” as opposed to “face,” “eyes,” and “lips.”

The matte formula is more velvety, dense, and substantial, so a little can go a long way and they are more powdery in the pan. I find these denser types of formulations are better at adhering to bare skin and often retain more intensity after blending, which was true of Clionadh's formula. There were a few shades that I felt were harder to work with and tended to apply unevenly or disappear, though, but most of them were easy to work with, opaque, and long-wearing (around eight hours without primer).

Ice Algae
Clionadh Ice Algae Matte Pressed Pigment ($4.50 for 0.06 oz.) is a bright, mint green with subtle, cool undertones and faint, pink and blue micro-shimmer over a more matte finish. There was enough shimmer paired with a creamier consistency that a bit of the shimmer came through and gave it a more satin-like finish.
It had rich color payoff that applied well to bare skin as the color didn’t sheer out too readily but remained blendable along the edges. This shade stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.
As a FYI, the back of the pan said “face” and “lips” as opposed to “face,” “eyes,” and “lips.”

Tundra
Clionadh Tundra Matte Eyeshadow ($4.50 for 0.06 oz.) is a bright, light-medium blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage paired with a soft but moderately powdery texture that had some fallout and excess product kicked up in the pan–you’ll want to use a very light hand with it.
The eyeshadow applied evenly and blended out well, but it didn’t build up that well without a primer underneath it. The color stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Aurora
Clionadh Aurora Matte Eyeshadow ($4.50 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium lavender with subtle, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, but the consistency was moderately powdery and more prone to sheering out on bare skin.
I’d recommend applying this one over a primer, which helped somewhat, but it didn’t build (and stay) opaque even over primer. There was also some fallout as a result of the powdery texture. It wore decently for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Caribou is just my kind of colour. I checked the dupes and in spite of my weakness for this sort of shade, I don’t actually have any dupes. I really will have to place some sort of order with this company…it’ll be a small way for me to keep supporting Canadian companies during this time.
Kind of surprising that these are so meh, when the multichromes are TDF. Many of the dupes for the blues/greens were in the SG No Joke bundle. That, and a Devinah version, came out as a result of the Tartlette Icy Betch April Fools Day joke (2018?). I compared/contrasted, and started my love of SG. The irony of it all is that Tarte made a joke, everybody took up the reality, and they had to do a real Icy Betch later. In many ways, an April Fools Day joke was responsible for the resurgence of blue and green e/s. Seeing these Clionadhs makes me glad i did the SG No Joke, before it was d/c’d.
Ooh! Ice Algae! What a delightful minty green! ?
I also love the tone of Sublimate also. But will probably get that super close dupe by SG instead due to the huge difference in quality.
Caribou was my favourite out of this group, although I could see how Midnight Sun would appeal to many too. I thought the pastel mattes were average – but then they are really hard to get right.
