Charlotte Tilbury Rising Star, Dolly Bird, Pin Up Pink Hollywood Lips Matte Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Rising Star
Charlotte Tilbury Rising Star Hollywood Lips Matte Liquid Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a medium pink-coral with soft, warm undertones and a satin finish. The consistency was smooth, velvety, and mousse-like, so it felt airy and lightweight on the lips but had a lot less slip than a lot of liquid lipsticks. There was still a noticeable shine to the finish, even after I waited 15 minutes for it to “set,” but it did not feel much different after waiting than it did initially. It moved around somewhat, and after two hours of wear, it felt clingy on the lips, though it was not drying. The color payoff was opaque and lasted for four hours with some color settling into my lip lines over time.

Formula Overview
$34.00/0.24 oz. - $141.67 Per Ounce
The formula is described as having the glide "like a gloss" with a "soft-focus matte" finish that will "nurture your lips like a cream" while having "full coverage." The texture of the formula was mousse-like without a lot of slip or wetness; it definitely felt more velvety and smooth with an airy quality to its "thickness." The color spread comfortably across the lips and typically yielded semi-opaque to opaque coverage that went on evenly but sometimes settled into my lip lines.
I did not find them to be particularly long-wearing--more like a standard bullet lipstick than a more traditional liquid lipstick, which was likely due to the fact that these never fully set or dried down on me. They had a semi-matte to satin finish that wore down to a matte finish (after two to three hours). The wear ranged from three to five hours on me and was fairly comfortable, though I would not describe the formula as hydrating.
The applicator is supposed to be like a stiletto heel, and it had a very steep angle that I did not find hugged my lips as well as the brand seemed to design it to--there are a lot of other doe-foot-like applicators that are more curved now to hug the lips that have been easier to use. The steepness of Charlotte Tilbury's applicator is what made it harder to apply for me, and I ended up using the other side for a lot of my upper lip.
The formula had a sweet, vanilla scent that was slightly noticeable on the lips but no discernible taste.

Dolly Bird
Charlotte Tilbury Dolly Bird Hollywood Lips Matte Liquid Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, and the color itself went on evenly. The texture was airy and very lightweight with a mousse-like consistency, and while it was easy to glide the applicator and move the product around on the lips, it clung to every imperfection on my lips and sank into my lip lines. After three hours of wear, my lips looked like raisins with how much color had pulled into my lip lines.

Pin Up Pink
Charlotte Tilbury Pin Up Pink Hollywood Lips Matte Liquid Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich pigmentation that covered the lips fairly evenly, but there was obvious color in my lip lines from initial application, which only worsened as I wore the lipstick. The consistency was mousse-like, airy, and lightweight on, and it was easy to spread along the lips without going outside the lines. On me, the color stayed on well for four and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Both shades are too light for me, as I can see by one of the CT dupes that I own but don’t wear.
Oh, that is good for you to glean from the dupe list!
Love these shades! I’m not a huge fan of the prices though – CT seems to be overpriced for what they are!
CT is definitely a pricey brand!
I am liking Rising Star and Pin Up:) Thanks for the swatches..this line is gettin my attention some…as in I would like maybe one or two lol..the $34 is what is holdin me back a bit. Just not sure if worth the money.
No problem, Kalliela! 🙂
Uh, no thanks. But I love the DOC mauve on your eyes; you always do such an enviable eye look. Prob will get that one with Ulta points. Scored some Nars fall 17 @ Bluemercury, locally. More on that Fri. Let me just say that I must have a purple undertone to my lips, as both Aya and MAC deeply rooted are far more purple on me than on you. No one would say brown. Aya is straight up puce, reminiscent of those Fresh 90s…you know, when they made lipstick. They had some drop dead awesome puces, and this channels them, but in an Audacious way. CT is mostly not my colorway.
It sounds like most things lean a bit grayer/purpler on you than I!
Because I have CP Chandelier (and MAC Cosmo?), not even one of these made it onto my WL. Thought for sure that Pin-up Pink would, but I’m already covered for this type of gorgeous warm pink.
Phew! 😀
So many of CT’s lip glosses look pretty similar – with fairly similar ratings as well. Not a good buy with these easily dupable shades.
It’s true 🙁 I don’t know why they are so similar!
Pin Up Pink is a fun color!
It is!
IDK but when brands are dropping thousands of lippies from the sky, with no end in sight, I feel like anything less than an A is an easy skip, esp. at this price point
LOL!
Thank you so much for reviewing these launches!! Really helped me with my purchase. You’re a Godsend.
If they are around A grade in your rating, I will buy 1-2 shades. But some colors are quite patchy on lips. Maybe I will try Nars.
Ugh, these liquid lipsticks have been the worst product I’ve bought this year. Rising Star was one of my picks, it’s got a really unflattering finish when it dries down. Accentuates every little lip line I have. Also, I have never worn a more drying lipstick. It was actually painful two hours in (and left my lips raw and peeling). I hate sounding negative but I love Charlotte Tilbury’s other lipsticks…it’s amazing to me that she managed to come up with a formula like this. Awful tube as well.
Still not seeing anything I like yet.
all of these shades suit you 🙂
