Chanel Camelias d'Eau Lip Palette Review & Swatches
Camelias d'Eau
Chanel Camelias d’Eau Lip Palette ($60.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that includes lipsticks in fuchsia, pink, plum, and red. They’re in the Rouge Allure formula, though I found that they were a little bit less emollient, luminous, and hydrating compared to most shades I’ve tried in the regular twist-up tubes, which seemed to result in a bit less line-smoothing than I’ve experienced in the past, too. Nevertheless, they had semi-opaque to opaque coverage, went on evenly, and lasted for a decent length of time with light hydration.

Exaltee (93)
Exaltee is a brighter, medium fuchsia pink with moderate, cool undertones and a satin finish. It didn’t have as much shine as I’d expect from the formula based on the regular, full-sized range. It had a very lightweight, thin consistency that didn’t feel clingy nor did it emphasize my lip lines. It had semi-opaque coverage that didn’t build up beyond that point but lasted well for five hours and felt lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview
$45.00/0.12 oz. - $375.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have a "satin finish" with "ultra-thin pigments" that yield "full coverage" while also having a moisturizing base. Most shades in the range have a satin to luminous finish--not glossy but they have a luminosity to them that gives the appearance of lighter-weight color and smoother, fuller lips that a true satin finish doesn't have (in my experience).
The texture has a more velvety feel--smooth with great glide but not a lot of wetness, so they go on comfortably but feel very lightweight and thin but don't emphasize lip lines/lip texture. The coverage tends to be more semi-opaque to opaque, so they aren't always living up to the "full coverage" claim.
Most shades wear four hours or longer with some of the deeper and richer hues lasting six hours or more, and the formula has been hydrating for me. They have a subtle, floral scent but no discernible taste.

Fougueuse (138)
Fougueuse (138) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had good color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly to my lips and didn’t emphasize my lip lines. The consistency felt lightweight, thin without being clingy, and spread easily over my lips. It stayed on nicely for five hours and felt lightly moisturizing over time.

New Prodigious (178)
New Prodigious (178) is a medium, rosy plum with faint, golden pearl throughout. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to my lips, but it seemed more prone to emphasizing my lip texture due to the thinner texture. The product didn’t feel particularly dry or different compared to the other pans of product, but it lacked some of the smoothing aspect and luminosity I expect from this formula, generally. It wore well for four and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating while worn.

Palpitante (102)
Palpitante is a medium-dark, pink-red with cooler undertones and a satin sheen. It had good color coverage that adhered evenly to my lips and spread well across them with fingertip or a lip brush (I’d recommend a lip brush, though, when working with this type of product). The consistency was lightweight, thin, and had enough slip to move over my lips but didn’t feel slippery when on. It lasted well for five and a half hours and felt lightly moisturizing over time.

This tiny flower embossings are so cute – I’m tempted to buy, it would be so fun to use! Even if the colors aren’t what I’d normally wear.
These shades don’t seem different enough to make this palette interesting. If it was a palette with a bright red, a soft pink, a deep plum or brown, and a beige nude, it would make more sense to me. In any case, I can’t see myself using a lip palette over a bullet, so I’m not in any danger of spending my money on it. Gorgeous packaging, as usual for Chanel. Is there a mirror in the compact? (Just curious.)
To my eye, there just isn’t enough variation between shades to warrant my spending $60 for this quad. All the shades run very pinkish. If there had been a TRUE red, a coral, then a fuchsia and a deep pink, I may have been on this train.
This is so pretty, I’d be afraid to use it.
I find I rarely use the few lipstick palettes I have, but I love the way this one looks with each lipstick shade being a flower, however I’d never be able to dip a lip brush into it and ruin the flowers!
Yes, I agree with the readers above – the shades are so similar and, ultimately this palette would become unworkable as you would always need a lip brush (clean) and certainly not handy for the handbag.
I don’t know if it’s just the way the colors look on my IPad, but to me they look totally different in the pan verses on Christine’s lips…I was very surprised to see how bright pink they are. I expecting more of reddish tones.
It’s actually not uncommon for a lipstick to look different on than in the tube – if you look at some of your used lipsticks (regular bullet style), you can often see the center is lighter than the exterior!
So, I read the comments below and while I agree, I am in for this palette. I love Chanel, the packaging, the embossing and the shades. While the shades are similar they are enough different for me and I have been very good this year so I am getting this!! I love it.
This looks like very expensive children’s makeup. Pretty, but cheap.
Is it bad that I would buy it just as a keepsake? I don’t think it’s practical to use at all, but the packaging is too gorgeous to pass up!
