Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon ($24.00 for 0.05 oz.) is supposed to be “long-wearing,” hydrating, and pigmented. It’s one of my favorite formulas for really pigmented, long-wearing, comfortable color that is more matte, though I wouldn’t describe them as a true or flat matte. There is a slight shine to them that wears down within an hour or so of wear (as you’d expect for most semi-matte to satin finish lipsticks). They come in a twist-up, large pencil format that makes it fairly easy to get precise edges and even coverage. For spring, they’ve brought back one previously limited edition shade (Blood Orange) and created five new shades to join the permanent range. The formula has a slightly herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste to me.

Pastille will be mine. I swear all this week,my eyes have been drawn to that lippie every time you have had it on! It’s on my list to use with my 10% code . I think Rosehip needs added too. Red Velvet is gorgeous as well. OMG. I have a lipstick problem.
LOL! Can’t wait for you to try Pastille, Nicole!
Oh great. I usually have a hard time pulling off mauvey pinks, so my collection sorely lacking this color, but Pastille looks perfect. But it’s $24 for only .05 oz, whereas the other BITE lipsticks are the same price for .09 oz (for high pigment lip pencils) and .15 oz (for lipsticks). Why, oh why ?? I’m hoping it’s because this has 2-3x the pigment, so I can use less, right? Gee, I might actually finish one of these. Well, I’m doing a swatch-a-thon tomorrow at the local stores, so if it swatches well against my skintone, I will grab
A little goes a long way, if it helps!
My thoughts exactly!
I love the look of these! Pastille is gorgeous but so are the others. Maybe it’s a good thing that I can’t get my hands on these that easily! I’m glad they did well though. ?
Pastille seems to be a real winner for Bite! A great addition to their range.
Pastille and Red Velvet would look best on me for sure but Rosehip is also so pretty! I wonder if I could pull Rosehip off, but it’s soooo warm I don’t think even in the summer I could do it and look right.
I think you could!
Pastille is really pretty. I love the reds, too. I have dupes for all of them, though.
Pastille is nice!
I really appreciate the dupe list for these, as the shades are $30CAN a pop. 🙂
🙂
These lip crayons be my first Bite products. Thanks for the review and swatches, Christine.
My pleasure, Tracey!!
All three are really gorgeous, wearable shades! Now, though, comes my internal debate: Pastille vs Anna. Good grief, but they are so incredibly similar to one another! Except that Pastille appears more matte? This won’t be an easy choice at all, but I also would not buy both because, yeah, they’re just much too similar to justify that.
Pastille is a smidgen more matte, though they both wear down to more matte in about an hour. Anna has a “heavier” feel in a way – will probably be a little more forgiving on really dry or textured lips.
In that case, Anna sounds more comfortable on. Heavier feeling lipsticks like the MAC Amplified, Too Faced La Creme and UD Revolution formulas tend to feel nicer on my lips. Even most of MAC and UD Matte formulas do, too.
The Red Velvet lipstick is my favourite and it looks great on you Christine.
Thanks, Genevieve!
Pastille is so gorgeous, I love these types of colours!
Me too! I wish there were more like ’em!
That Red Velvet is a win for me, (much like its namesake). It’s just the right shade of red.
Perfect 😀
Like Nicole, I keep looking at Pastille. I just don’t know how it would translate on me. My lips, naturally, are a pinky-mauve… so this could be a MLBB or merely “somethings a bit off”. LOL I’m torn.
lol! Aww. I hope you can try it at least!
I fell in love with the Bite Beauty crayons a while ago, when I got the Rewind Set. Now I want all of them! Especially Pastille, that one looks like a fantastic option for everyday wear.
I love their holiday sets of these!
Ooooh Pastille is sooooo pretteh!
It is!
Bite<3
I love Pastille. I guess I have to go and try Anna to see how I'll look in this type of colour. I think I have tried this kind of shade in the past and not liked it, but Pastille loooks so GOOD!
I also really like the reds, I do have dupes for Red Velvet, but not for Rosehip and it's so juice-y and lovely! I'll have to check dupes for it, I know I've been holding Annabella, but I think I'll try 714 as UD is less expensive.
Have I ever told you how much I love the lists of dupes?
Hope you can check Anna out 🙂
Pastille will be mine! A trip to Sephora is coming!
Yay!
I can’t wait to try Pastille! I love my rosy mauves,
Woohoo!
I actually just tried Pastille at Sephora yesterday. I really liked the formula, but the color looked way different on me from how it does on you. I’m an NW20 and Pastille looked darker and more purple (with cool/blue undertones) on me. I wasn’t in love with it enough to justify buying it right now, though I’d definitely like to get one of the crayons in the future.
I could see it looking cooler on you, as it’s one of those more neutral shades!
So my issue is the amount you get for the price. It’s 1/3 the amount of a regular lipstick but costs the same?? I don’t see the value in that when there are comparable colors in their lipstick line.
The twist-up type of products like this usually contain about this amount (it is consistent with other brands with this type of packaging), but if you want “max value” then avoid this type of packaging, always, for any and all brands. Similarly, avoid jumbo lip pencils.
I love the color of Nars Dragon Girl, but would like a paraben-free, more natural lipstick brand and have heard good things about Bite Beauty. Is Red Velvet or Rosehip closer to Dragon Girl?
Red Velvet, but it isn’t as cool-toned as Dragon Girl.
LOVING Pastille. Just bought it today! I think it looks really great with the earrings that you were wearing in these pictures, too!
Thank you, Alison!
OMG Red velvet looks so good, the minute I saw it I thought wow that looks powerful, vintage and pretty!
It’s gorgeous!
