Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick
Bite Beauty Cayenne Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “bright red.” It’s a bold, bright warm red with strong, orange undertones and a satiny sheen. It was one of the “glossier” shades in the range–definitely a satin and not semi-matte. It had nearly opaque color payoff with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that applied with even color and didn’t tug on the lips. This shade was still going strong after seven hours of wear and was hydrating overall. Urban Decay Doubt (DC, $18.00) is lighter (95% similar). Bite Beauty Sour Cherry Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “maraschino red.” It’s a slightly muted, medium-dark ruby red with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. The color payoff was great with nearly opaque coverage. The texture was lightly creamy with enough slip that it was easy to apply with and yielded smooth, even color. It wore well for seven hours and left a light stain behind, while the formula had light hydration over time. Tarte Swamp Family (LE, $20.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Formula Overview
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have “bold, creamy color” with “extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable. All 34 shades are shimmer-free and vary being a soft satin finish to a natural finish (light shine but not glossy). The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamyu with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.
In comparison to the Luminous Creme formula: The level of color payoff and lemony scent are the two things that are similar, but they feel quite different on. If you have drier lips and need the intense hydration that the Luminous Creme formula offered, I don’t know if you’re going to like these. The Luminous Creme formula had a thicker consistency with a very creamy texture that glided on and never tugged at all, and the thicker consistency paired with the glossier finish was more forgiving on lips as it didn’t emphasize lines, natural texture, dryness, or flaking. Some had issues with the Luminous Creme formula bleeding/feathering and shorter-wear due to the amount of slip (high), and the Amuse Bouche formula has much, much less slip, so the wear is longer. I didn’t typically experience bleeding/feathering with the Luminous Creme formula, and that is also true with Amuse Bouche, but I would expect less with this more satin-finish formula for most (but not all). The scent seemed slightly stronger in the Amuse Bouche range, but it wasn’t noticeable after I was done applying the color.

sour cherry is so my kind of color but I already own 009 from the lip lab releases last year and they appear to be basically identical
The new range definitely has some similarities to past releases!
BITE is killing it with these new lippies!
They are!
You always look amazing in red lips. My complexion is a little more finicky. Sour cherry is a possibility for future purchase; not too bright and cooler. I picked up Radish which is more in the dark redpink/magenta range and it’s freaking stunning; an out of the park home run for me.
Thank you, Wendy! I can see why Radish is working so well for you! How are you liking the formula itself?
It’s definitely different; not as thick and wet feeling and no noticeable slip. I like it.. the wear is so much better for me. While I still like the rich look of the old formula, it definitely required more maintenance than the new. If I was going out, I would invariably would use the OCC ‘invisible’ lipliner on my perimeter as added insurance against bleed with the old formula. I do not use it with the new.
It’s interesting that it’s so different yet serves as a replacement. I was thinking they could have easily justified having both in their line-up!
agree! Why not
I’m not much of a red girl… red is red is red to me. lol
But the formula looks fabulous!
lol! 🙂
A classic blue red that lasts 7 hours and is hydrating throughout??? PERFECTION.
Gazpacho and Sour Cherry are my kind of reds. Not drying, and super long wearing! One of them is bound to be the future replacement for my tube of MAC Maria Moretti? I hope? Although it will probably take a few more years to use that one all up as I don’t wear red every day.
I can’t imagine how long it would take to get through a red lipstick, lol!
Maybe by the time I hit 60, LoL!
I actually DO know someone who goes through SEVERAL red lipstick tubes a year, and no, I’m not joking! Yep, this friend of mine that it feels like I’ve known forever, and she literally only wears one shade of red every. single. day.
I bought Sour Cherry and I’m dying for a chance to wear it! These red shades look great on you Christine 😀
Yay! Hope you can wear it soon, Lorrin!
They are SO beautiful! I’m definitely getting Cayenne for this summer.
Awesome!
I really like Sour Cherry, but I already have Luxembourg and Cherry Pop!
Hopefully another, more unique-to-your-stash shade catches your eye!
Gorgeous colors.
They are!
Omg! These all look so gorgeous on you! I love Cayenne. But, I have several dupes. So, I’m going to need to attempt some restraint with it. We shall see though! Sour Cherry is on my list to try on. I hope my Sephora devotes more than an end cap to these. I may need to pack lunch for my try- on session! Lol
Aww, thanks so much, Nicole! 🙂
Shades like Cayenne are my weakness recently :p
I love how much red is in it!
Wow! They all look so gorgeous on you Christine! So hard to decide which one to buy. I want them all! 😉
Thank you, Judith! 🙂
What gorgeous lipsticks they make. I love all three. Then MAC Red and MAC Ruby are favourites, Clinique Cherry Pop is also a fav, so I guess I have dupes for two out of three.
Sounds like you are covered on your blue-reds!
The Sour Cherry lipstick is a fabulous colour. These look really creamy and lovely to wear.
It is a nice one!
Gazpacho is a stunning red! Is it similar to MAC Oblivion?
Oblivion is cooler, glossier 😉
The luminous creme formula lipstick actually MIGRATED outside of my lipline cause of how glossy and creamy it was, even with liner. Hope i won’t experience the same with this. I really want that gorgeous gazpacho red.
I think you will like it, Casey!
Hey 🙂 can you compare Cayenne and Persimmon to the NARS velvet matte lip pencil in the color Iberico? I find that color very flattering on me and would love to have it in another formula.
Also, I bought Nori! Very excited to wear it out soon 🙂 I have heard that the Bite lipsticks tend to spoil more quickly compared to other brands — do you find that to be true? Thank you.
Iberico is a lot lighter than either!
Cayenne may have to be mine. I love Nars Rita, but it is a bit dark. This may be just perfect. Ooh! I can’t wait!
Cayenne is fun!
It’s nice to see how well these performed!
🙂
Sour Cherry is lovely as is Gazpacho. Bite Pomegranate looks similar in the tube to Gazpacho.
Definitely both reds!
All three of these are winners in my book. I can’t pick a favorite!
Tough 😀
They all look fab! I’m struggling between gazpacho and sour cherry as I don’t know which one would fit my fair Asian skin tone more!
If you want something more subdued and cooler, Sour Cherry. Brighter, Gazpacho!
How does Gazpacho compare to Pomegranate in the old Luminous Creme line? It seems to be my go-to, since I’ve worn my bullet down so I can barely see the “B” anymore. But every time I wear Pomegranate, I find myself wishing it were a bit fuller coverage.
Pomegranate is cooler-toned 🙂 It looks more like ruby red slippers!
Yay! Tried on gazpacho today cause the sephora at jcpenny near me has them available in stock already and I love the new formula. Better than the LC cause it’s not too creamy that it slides outside the lipline making me look like a clown even with liner. So glad about how they fixed that issue with this new formula. Perfect amount of creaminess and it stays put. Can’t wait to get myself a tube of sour cherry (bf likes it more), even though SC wasn’t out as a tester yet.
Woohoo!! Happy to hear you’re enjoying the new formula, Casey.
It’s good to hear (for me) these have less slip. I got a deluxe sample perk from Sephora with the luminious cream formula, and it was a gigantic mess for me. It actually turned me off their lipsticks a bit, I actually like formulas with a bit of slip to them and no other formula has made it look like I let a toddler apply my lipstick!
I can definitely see people LOVING and also hating the Luminous Creme formulas – one of the thicker and more emollient formulas out there.
They look gorgeous! I’m looking for a dupe for the Bobbi brown Retro Red, since the Pomegranate from the Luminous creme is discontinued, which one of the Gazpacho or the Sour Cherry will be a closer dupe? 😀
Gazpacho 🙂 http://www.temptalia.com/side-by-side?sbs_1_search=Bobbi+Brown+Retro+Red&sbs_1=208380&sbs_2_search=Bite+Beauty+Gazpacho&sbs_2=222663
Wow! Sour Cherry is stunning!
Cayenne is also gorgeous but not a color I can wear. Looks beautiful on you, Christine!
These are some rich shades!
Thanks, Bonnie!
Am I lipsticking wrong? I got Sour Cherry. Love the colour! But good god is it high maintenance. I wore it with MAC Brick liner underneath, but even still it didn’t survive a breakfast sandwich – it felt like the colour was actually melting off. Granted, everything feathers on me, but…i barely got 1 hour let alone 7 hours! What am I doing wrong? D:
I’m totally baffled by it wearing off over a lip liner though? I mean, even if Sour Cherry was moving, I am surprised the liner didn’t keep it on 🙁 I’m sure you are not doing wrong, but the formula just might not work for you unfortunately!
D: I guess I’m just special… :S
Admittedly stuff feathers on me, but it was bizarre! I try to use really sturdy lip liners (like the MAC) ones, too. I’m going to keep it because of the colour but it’ll definitely go into the ‘super high maintenance’ pile.
Have you tried wearing Sour Cherry alone? I don’t know… maybe there’s some weird chemical reaction between Bite and the MAC pencil, LOL. I only suggest it since you’re keeping it, so maybe…
I got sour cherry and it looks more of a berry red on me. It’s what the bf chose between that and gazpacho of what red he would like to see on me. I wanna look like a sexy bombshell to him.
Happy to hear it, Casey!
Would Cayenne look way too warm on a neutral, really fair complexion?
It will be warm-toned for sure, but I think anyone could wear it!
Does it look more orange than red? Im searching for a warm red that doesnt look waay too orange
I’d probably look elsewhere – my guess is Cayenne will pull too orange!
