ColourPop Smoke 'n' Roses Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Smoke 'n' Roses
ColourPop Smoke ‘n’ Roses 30-Pan Shadow Palette ($34.00 for 0.92 oz.) is the brand’s newest mega-sized palette with an equal amount of shimmers and mattes. The eyeshadows performed consistently with the brand’s past powder eyeshadows; they were pigmented, blendable, and wore around eight hours, but some shades were more powdery than others or required building up or use with a dampened brush/fingertip to get the best application and coverage.
I think the first two rows get a bit redundant, and they could have definitely had some more variety in deeper shimmers and certainly more pink- and gray-based shades given the name of the palette!

PPermanent. $35.00.
Thorn Apart
Thorn Apart is a pale, yellowy gold with warmer undertones and a frosted finish with larger flecks of shimmer/sparkle. The consistency was somewhat powdery, so it was more prone to fallout but could be pressed into place with a fingertip to minimize it. It had opaque color coverage that lasted well for eight hours before fading was apparent.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Romance is a darker, peachy coral with strong, warm undertones and a metallic finish. Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

Hmm, where’s the “smoke”? It’s not a terrible palette, but I agree with you that this ought to have had more dusty rose and gray shades, dare I say more mauve, less peachy and coral shades? I will pass this up.
Not very exciting, is it? I will pass also. There are several ColourPop palettes on my wish list and will probably pick a few up closer to the holiday. I don’t buy much ColourPop for my daughter as she doesn’t care for their pressed shadow formula. SSS are her jam. We don’t need anything. It mostly just a want thing. We the expense of Christmas coming, I can easily wait on ColourPop. They will release a thousand palettes before the new year!
There is lots to like in this palette and for those who like peachy and rosy shades, this palette has it all. Yes, a few more grey toned shades would have suited the brief better, but it is still a lovely palette.
I’m so happy I can’t get this brand from my local shops and it is sooooooo far away. My wallet is a bit safer because of that.
I was so, so close to getting it, but I already have many warm/peachy/dusty pinks. It makes sense for the rose theme though. I just don’t have many cool, light shimmery pinks. CP seems to go for peachy, neon, dusky, or dark pink, but not cool bubblegum pink. Even Cloud Spun was mostly warm. Maybe in spring! I bet this palette complements blue and green eyes beautifully!
I had this in my cart during the 30% off sale but didn’t end up getting anything in the end. I’m glad I didn’t – I already have the Morphe Talkin’ Flirty palette (which is more muted and mauve) and several pink themed CP smaller palettes so although it is nice, it would be completely redundant in my collection. Metalhead and Twin Flame are both gorgeous though!
I haven’t purchased any of the large Colourpop palettes before but I might have to get this one. I’ve been using blush as eyeshadow a lot recently as I really like the look of it and this could be a good blush-y eyeshadow palette.
