My skin tone/coloring: light to medium with warm undertone, MAC NC 23ish

Favorite look you’ve worn: I’ve been experimenting and it’s going well so I’m encouraged! I’ve been doing a neutral eye this week with either a peachy coral blush or a plum/mauve blush and matching lipsticks. I can see how the blush and lip can change the way the eye look translates (whether it brings out the lid color or crease color, makes me look washed out or too drastic, etc.). When all else fails for me, slap some shimmer on the lid and go neutral. The coordinating blush and lipstick have looked really nice and no fails so far. I love a cohesive, polished look.

Most used product of the week: All of my staples! Something new I’ve added lately is this highlighter in cushion form by CLE – it came in a sub box. I use it as a base and then pat/sweep my highlighter of choice over it. It’s subtle but there and gives a nice effect.

Any new beauty discoveries: CLE cushion highlighter (see above).

Skin tone/coloring: medium with neutral undertones, blue eyes, dyed brown hair

Favorite look worn: Nothing was my favorite but when I put on an old Laura Mercier lipstick in Pomegranate, my husband liked it a lot.

Most used product this week: My staples but I changed up my primers and foundation. I decided to use up a Benefit Stay Don’t Stray on my eyelids instead of concealer and am using Touch in Sol No Poreblem instead of the Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer. The Touch in Sol is very liquid and lighter. Instead of foundation I have been using the IT Cosmetics CC cream.

New discoveries: My eyelashes are getting thinner with age and I was needing extra layers of mascara and it was hard to avoid clumps and flakes. I had a sample of Dior eyelash primer and decided to try it. It is working out really well as a volumizer and I only need one coat of mascara. This is a product that I always thought was useless but I guess I was just lucky not to need it until now.

My skin tone/coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones MAC NC37, Lancôme Teint Idole Foundation N360, Fenty ProFilt’r 260, deep brunette, blue-green eyes w/ gold flecks.

Favorite look you worn: Got a chance to use my brand new Viseart Absinthe Palette yesterday! All I can say is: WOW. I did a dark, smokey green eye look with it, added some Sephora Fairytale Contour Pencil on lower lashline, which lost any teal-ness over the blackened green eyeshadow I’d already applied there. Went more subtle yet glowy copper for lips and cheeks using CP Clock Work duo, Hourglass Gold Flash Vanishing Highlighter and UD Jawbone (for soft contouring), UD Outspoken topped with a little bit of GA Ecstasy Laquer in Luce.

Most used product of the week: Shocked myself here because I’ve been forcing myself to use, and get used to, Hourglass Gold Flash Vanishing Highlighter. Found out that it works best on me if I use it *before* applying my blush.

Any new beauty discoveries? 2 things.
1.) Get someone who actually knows you to help you find your foundation match when going HE. Really. I do not appear as deep into the medium range as I actually am. So having someone who is very objective and actually wants me to be completely satisfied with my match makes a huge difference compared to what happened at that other Sephora a week previous! Exchanged Fenty ProFilt’r 290 (too green based) for 260. Just hoping it won’t oxidize as badly as some say, but I LOVE the velvety, pore hiding finish on this foundation based on last Autumn’s samples!
2.) Next time I use Absinthe’s golden khaki glitter infused shade, take VERY seriously the warnings of such and use with a dampened brush, or suffer the consequences of specks of gold glitter fallout gradually floating EVERYWHERE! ?

Genevieve Avatar

That sounds like a really beautiful green eye look Nancy.
Getting someone to actually match you for HE foundation is a tricky business, because in most dept. stores the SA’s generally just want to sell you their brand and near enough is good enough. However I did find one very honest SA in Clarins who told me that none of their current stock in foundations was the right shade for me.
I have bought the Chosangh 22, as recommended by Deborah here on this blog, after using a sample pot for a week and that is great. I haven’t opened the bottle yet as I am finishing off my other HE foundation.
That’s why I don’t have or use glittery eyeshadows – I just do not want them anywhere near my delicate eyes and thanks for the warning too.

Skintone/Coloring: Light neutral with green eyes and dark hair

Favorite Look Worn: I am making it a weekly mission to wear the eyeshadows and lipsticks that I rarely reach for. KVD Shade & Light Palette (Ludwin in crease, Latinus on brow bone and lid, Succubus in outer V), Marc Jacobs Highliner in Overnight on upper lashline, Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara, Clinique Brow Shaper, ABH Brow Wiz, Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, RCMA No Color Powder, Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Highlighter 01, NARS Orgasm Blush, and MAC Lipstick in Creme in Your Coffee.

Most Used Products: Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara, Clinique Brow Shaper, ABH Brow Wiz, Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, Marc Jacobs Highliner in Overnight

New Beauty Discoveries: The glass jars from Oui yogurt (with labels removed) are perfect for lip and eye pencils. Also, a recent discovery is how tightlining my upper lash line with a navy blue eyeliner helps pop the green color of my eyes.

Seraphine Avatar

My biggest problem is lipsticks. I have 100+, and I tend to favor the same ones week after week, forgetting shades that are beautiful, like the one I used this week. This coming week I plan to use three that I’ve been ignoring, and at least one eyeshadow palette that I haven’t used in weeks.

Skin tone: Very pale with cool undertones, currently about MAC NW10

Favorite look: I used my usual base products and for the eyes I used the PUR Visionary palette but only the neutral matte shades which were a very light beige in transition and a slightly darker brown in crease and outer V for depth. I then used a medium toned peachy shade to blend out the darker brown. I popped Stila Glitter and Glow in the shade “Into the Blue” on the mobile lid. I used Too Faced Just Peachy blush and Guerlain Rouge G lipstick in 06. It worked because the Rouge G pulls very peachy on me rather than red/rose as described. I love the formula and this particular shade while not what I was thinking it would be, is lovely none the less.

Most used product this week: Besides my basics I used the Stila G and G in Into The Blue almost every day I think. I am not usually a big blue lover but this has a slight teal reflect that I love so have really been into it lately.

New beauty discoveries: I am loving some of the products from the “Littles” kit that I picked up from the first round of Sephora VIB Rouge sale. The kit has 7 of Drunk Elephants most popular products in it. I was told that the samples were deluxe size and were meant to last a month. That was from a beauty channel on YT but there is no way these are going to last a week even. Having said that, I do really like a couple of them so am willing to pick them up in full size so they are on my list for todays order. In particular I am liking the Virgin Marula Oil and the TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. I had also picked up the travel size of the Peekee and Juju bars and really like the Peekee bar. I have been using it in place of my Nuxe Reve de Miel Cleanser and after using my Tatcha Cleansing Oil. I like the Marula Oil as it is a drier oil than the one I had been using and so it doesn’t seem like it slips around my face at night. This is a good thing as I wear a CPAP mask at night. There is something about the oil that seems to keep my mask from making such deep marks on my face at night. Usually when I get up in the morning and take the mask off there are deep grooves on my upper cheeks and lover jaw. It will take hours for these to completely fade away. Also where the mask goes over my nose I have what appear to be permanent marks that remain red. Since I have been using the Marula oil at night the marks are much less obvious in the morning and disappear much quicker. I might have imagined it except my daughter commented on it the first morning she was home so I am happy about that. On a related note, the other oils seemed to damage the cushion part of my face mask and resulted in more frequent replacement of the cushion. The Marula oil doesn’t seem to leave that same residue on the cushion so hopefully over time I won’t have to replace so frequently.

I’ve just ordered the Visionary! Do you love it? The colours look beautiful so I hope the texture and pigmentation are good 😀 Your eye look sounds amazing!

PS. That Erno Laszlo sea mud cleansing bar you got me is SO GOOD.

Deborah S. Avatar

I do really like it. Some of the darker shades have some fallout during application and because they are so pigmented they can really play havoc with your base and result in having to completely clean off the area of fallout and reapply product so the subsequent times that I have used it I have completed my eye look first and then cleaned up and done the remainder of my face makeup. Usually with fallout during application I can swipe away with a fluffy brush and leave no residue but these shades definitely clung and left a bruised appearance so I would recommend when using the darker colors to do your eyes first. The colors are lovely and blend really well. They remain true to color and the palette is well balanced. I didn’t have any trouble with fallout during the day and I always use eye shadow primer. Hope you really like it!!
Glad to hear you are liking the Erno Laszlo cleansing bar. The sea mud one is the deeper grey colored bar I believe? I have dry skin so sometimes cleansing bars leave my skin feeling tight, itchy and dehydrated. I have rarely used any cleansing bars or soapy, high lathering type cleansers. The Peekee bar doesn’t seem to make my skin fell tight and stripped so I am going to pick up the full size when I am done with the trial size. I understand the trial size lasts for quite awhile. I know the Erno Laszlo looked huge so I imagine it will last for awhile!

CeeBee Avatar

Oooh, thanks for the info, especially regarding fallout – always good to know! I saw the palette pop up on Beauty Bay a couple of days ago and couldn’t resist, since the PUR highlight palette I got late last year was lovely. I also ordered the OPV Oshun palette and if it’s any good I might pick up the Yemoja one as well, they are both so beautiful.

Yes, the black sea mud Lazslo will last for ages – I got a 5g sample bar and it went for months. I don’t find it drying but it is by far one of the most effective cleansers I’ve found. I used a lot of foaming cleansers previously but they just stripped my skin chronically so I only use them sparingly now. Glad you like the Peekee – I was considering it but the Lazslo won out 😉

Deborah S. Avatar

I have been waiting for the OPV Yemoja palette to come back in stock as I would like to pick that one up also. The Oshun is beautiful but I would like a brow bone shade, a different toned transition and a deeper more wearable shade to round it out. Doesn’t mean I won’t get it but not a priority. Please let me know how you like it when you get it.
I was just watching Tarababyz YT video on her Ulta and Sephora haul and she picked up the Dominique Cosmetics Latte palette and was wearing it on her eyes for the video. I have so many eye shadows and palettes I will never even make a dent in them in my lifetime but I am sorely tempted by that one. It is so pigmented and the shades are lovely. I should actually put it in my cart realizing that the 20% off sale ends tonight and then went to look for my code and must have accidentally trashed my email with the code in it so since I can’t get a discount there is no rush to purchase. Sometimes I am such a scatter-brain!!

kjh Avatar

In case you scatter again, calling Ulta can result in a new code being sent to your email. Worked for me once. Sorry you have to deal with OSA.

My skin tone/coloring:Light medium, yellow undertones. Dark brown hair and eyes.

Favorite look worn: A purple sparkly eye – cool dusky pink transition, cool deep brown in the crease (both Colourpop powders, I can’t remember the names), Vendome from Viseart Paris Nudes on the lid and a little bit of Colourpop Supernova cream shadow in Moonlight blended right in the middle. Black liner and mascara, CP Drop of a Hat blush and Ink Blot lippie Stix.

Most used product of the week: Colourpop Lux Lipstick in Angel City – I wore that at least 3 times this week alone.

Any new beauty discoveries: That Mario Badescu drying lotion actually seems to make my cystic acne worse. 🙁 I know a lot of people love it but its just a bottle of alcohol and calamine lotion and I’ve stopped using it.

Rachel R. Avatar

My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.

Favorite look you worn: My makeup has been pretty basic this week due to lots of meetings for my son, but I finally took the plunge and shaved the right side of my head, and cut 8″ off the length, and I’m loving how it looks! I can still brush the long part over the side if I need to look more conservative for some reason. My makeup has been mostly warm neutrals using my Naked Heat Palette or ColourPop and Coastal Scents singles.

Most used product of the week: Physician’s Formula Murumuru Butter Blush in Vintage Rouge; e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation in Light Ivory (I used up the last of Porcelain, and Light Ivory is an even better match); my usual dailies.

Any new beauty discoveries: I’m really liking the Physician’s Formula Butter Blushes, especially Plum Rose, but I just can’t make Natural Glow work. It’s more of a very subtle peach highlighter than a blush. I tried it as such and as a blush topper, but if I apply it heavily enough to show up on my light skin, it emphasizes the pores and chicken pox scars on my cheeks. I’m going to return it.

My skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look you worn: nothing special but I am really enjoying using Lise Watier Multi Fini
Most used product of the week: MAC Into the Pink ED blush and (discontinued) Red Necessity lipstick as well as the Lise Watier powder
Any new beauty discoveries: rediscovering the MUFE Nudes You Need palette (Christine’s self-made and gorgeous palettes with the new MUFE shadows have me heading back to my old ones); I used this palette today for a wedding shower I attended.

Skintone / coloring : light, MAC NC 15 – 20, med brown hair and eyes

Favorite look worn : Colourpop Super Shock Brady & Wattles in the crease. Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in So Quiche on outer half of eyelid and Super Hard Core on inner half of eyelid/ inner corner. Rimmel Soft Kohl Pencil in Brown on upper lash line. Diorshow Pump and Volume Black Mascara. Hourglass Mood Exposure. Colourpop Ultra Satin Liquid Lip in Jiffy.

Most used product : Clinique Even Better Foundation. Diorshow Pump and Volume Black Mascara. Rimmel Soft Kohl Pencil in Brown. Benefit Gold Rush Blush (not really a blush but rather a highlighter).

New beauty discoveries : add a drop of pure glycerin to your Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow revives dried out eyeshadows!

Sorry for the silence-the past couple weeks have been too busy for me to really read this site on a real computer, and I don’t comment on mobile.

My skin tone/coloring: fair and cool skin (Urban Decay All Nighter 2.5), gray eyes, brown hair with red highlights and scattered blue and blonde strands.
Favorite look you worn: Probably Thursday-Urban Decay Fringe on lid, Urban Decay Chaos in crease, Sephora V for V.O.L.U.M.E. Turquoise League mascara, L’Oreal True Match Spiced Plum blush, Maybelline Color Sensational Copper Rose lipstick (I know I wore my Maybelline SuperStay concealer, but I don’t remember if I wore my L’Oreal True Match Creamy Natural foundation with my CoverGirl Clean Creamy Natural pressed powder or my Urban Decay All Nighter 2.5 foundation without powder). When I blended Fringe and Chaos after applying my crease, Fringe’s teal color turned Chaos from cobalt blue to a smokier, grayer blue.
Most used product of the week: Probably my Urban Decay All Nighter 2.5 foundation.
Any new beauty discoveries: There’s at least one purpley lipstick I look good in-the aforementioned Maybelline Color Sensational Copper Rose.

I am fair, blue-eyes, dyed blond hair, and I am an older woman.
This week I was excited to get to the Sephora sale. I especially wanted to buy Nars’ new ‘Fort De France’ highlighter since it looked so gorgeous on some of the YouTube videos I watched. My Sephora didn’t even have it on display yet. But they had received their shipment and sold me the product. And when I got home and tried it I thought it was really pretty but looked awfully familiar and I pulled out Essence’s Pure Nude highlighter in ‘Be My Highlight’- and it was IDENTICAL. $38 versus $4.99. I returned the Nars product today.

My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones

Favourite look you worn: Still love Lorac’s Pro Metal palette shades with Amber (peach metallic), with Clover on the lid, Graphite in the crease paired with Ginger spice lipstick by EA
Another is UD’s Naked 1 – with Buck (the matte shade) in the crease, Naked matte on the lower lid and Half Baked in the corners with Maybelline’s Copper Spark on the lips.

Most used product of the week: Either Naked 1 or Lorac’s Pro Metals palette.

Any new beauty discoveries: That when I run out of facial oils (and I think I have a backup and I don’t), my skin really misses them.

Brenda C Avatar

My skin tone/coloring: Fair, cool undertone, brown eyes, brown hair
Favorite look you worn: I purchased a KKW matte lipgloss that was too light for me a while ago so I used it on my mobile lid and holy crap did it look good, it was a little on the pink side but it was a look that I really liked and I will be experimenting with it again.
Most used product of the week: Just the usual
Any new beauty discoveries: I purchased a Tom Ford mascara at the Rouge sale and I was not expecting anything special but it surprised me, two coats and my lashes were long and fluttery.

Just a short, money saving tip. Having looked at the brush cleaning pads for molto bucks, found a two pack of ‘facial scrub brushes’ at dollar tree, made from the same material. They have 2 textures and work very well with spray on and brush baths. Though I wouldn’t use them for their intended purpose, it’s so much better than 20$ for big name brand.
