Guerlain #41, 70, 77 Rouge G de Guerlain Lip Colors (2018) Reviews, Photos, Swatches
#41
Guerlain #41 Rouge G de Guerlain Lip Color (2018) ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium pinky-coral with warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish. The pigmentation was fantastic with opaque coverage in a single layer. It had a lightweight, lightly creamy texture with enough slip to feel comfortable and give it a nice shine, but it didn’t slide around when worn and seemed to make my lips appear smoother overall. It wore well for five hours and was hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$36.00/0.12 oz. - $300.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "intense colour" with a hydrating base that includes things like jojoba and mango butter as well as hyaluronic acid (and gugul resin) to "help to smooth and plum up lips." I would describe the formula as somewhere between semi-opaque and opaque, often buildable, with a luminous sheen that seems like there's very, very fine pearl but less distinctive shimmer (except for the shades that are actually shimmery).
I find that the magic of the formula is in its finish--it's shiny, luminous, and absolutely smoothing on the lips without compromising wear (four to six hours, sometimes longer). The formula is very hydrating and comfortable to wear. They have a sweet, floral scent but no discernible taste to me. The updated shade range seems to have a stronger emphasis on mid-tones in coral and red and less beiges than before.
The Rouge G de Guerlain Lip Colors have been updated but mostly with respect to packaging and the shade range, as the formula itself has not been changed (per the brand). The lipsticks are now available as refills for $32.00 each, and then one can pick from an assortment of cases ($15.00 each), though each refill comes with a small, plastic cap that keeps the refill from drying out while waiting to be sold. The refill cap seems like it would be sufficient to keep the lipstick long-term, but I can't say from experience. I have not tested each shade for wear, but the shades I have tested, initial swatches and applications, and the like make the formula seem the same as before.
The old Rouge G cases do not fit on the new refills as the case doesn't stay on without a magnet (it just slides right off). I don't yet have any of the cases as they weren't available to me to purchase yet, but I plan to pick one or two up merely to see how they feel (probably the Original, to see if there was any weight change, and then something new).
A big upside to the refillable packaging is that they're actually significantly less expensive buying them piecemeal than buying it all-in-one. The original Rouge Gs were last sold at $58.00 for 0.12 oz., and now, the all-in-one price is effectively $47.00 for 0.12 oz. -- that's a nearly a 19% reduction in price.

#70
Guerlain #70 Rouge G de Guerlain Lip Color (2018) ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a vibrant, medium-dark fuchsia pink with subtle, cool undertones and a luminous sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied fairly well to my lips–I noticed very, very subtle areas where it did not seem to apply as strongly in close-up photos but didn’t notice it in person. The texture was lightweight, emollient without being too slippery, and comfortable to apply and to wear. This shade lasted for five hours and was moisturizing while worn.

#77
Guerlain #77 Rouge G de Guerlain Lip Color (2018) ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with warm undertones and a cream sheen. It had good color payoff that applied evenly across my lips and never dragged during application. The consistency was lightweight with enough slip to glide on but not enough to feel thick, settle into lip lines, or slide around while worn. It wore well for five and a half hours and was hydrating.

Perfect shades for the warmer weather! They just scream “summer”. But, of course, I just would have to have a dead-on dupe for the one I love the most #77! Now I’m going to have to find an excuse to wear MAC Saucy Little Darling….with something.
I love 41 on you, Christine. I might have to test it in person. It is the exact color I would love to be able to wear but most of the time my very pigmented lips change these colors into some shade that is indescribable and not attractive. I like both of the other two as well and they scream spring to me. Very bright and cheery.
I am loving the format and the interchangeable system. I picked up the mauve/pink snake skin one and really love it.
These are beautiful. Perfect for spring. I just ordered a similar nailpolish.
These shades are pretty, but too bright for my face. But the A ratings are making me very happy! I’m waiting to see all the reviews before I decide which one I want.
Are the cases LE? When I went online to look at them, a couple were already sold out, including one that I like.
Also, does anyone know if these are being sold at the Guerlain store in Epcot?
Guerlain PR didn’t tell me any were LE!
That’s great! Thanks, Christine.
I absolutely love 41 and 77, but I have made it over 1/3 through my year long lipstick no-buy and am not stopping. They’re stunning though. :/
All gorgeous shades, especially the pinky coral one.
Oh wow, #41 is so gorgeous; I really don’t need another coral lipstick but I think I’m going to have to get this one. Every girl needs a new coral lipstick for summer, right??
I detect a white base on all the lipsticks, that does not suit me at all…
