ColourPop Creeper & Ouiji Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
ColourPop Creeper Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick
ColourPop Creeper Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “true classic blue red.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark red with cool, blue undertones and a smooth, matte finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage with a soft feel to the touch once dried down. It didn’t budge at all for eight hours, and it faded evenly overall. I found the formula a little drying after five hours of wear. Milani Romance (LE, $8.99) is darker (95% similar). Too Faced Lady Balls (P, $21.00) is warmer (90% similar). Tarte Swamp Family (LE, $20.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Sephora Always Red (PiP, $14.00) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). ColourPop Silhouette (LE, $6.50) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Chateau M (LE, $21.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). MAC Opera (LE, $19.00) is lighter, glossier (90% similar). ColourPop Sky Walking (LE, $6.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Ouiji Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright coral red.” It’s a bright, medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had very nearly opaque color payoff with a consistency that ran a little thin and streaked just slightly–the vibrancy of the color made the streaks less apparent, but this is one to work quickly with. The color lasted for seven hours on me with light fading beginning from the center of the mouth. The formula felt lightly drying after five hours of wear. NARS Flame (LE, $26.00) is cooler (95% similar). NARS Kelly (P, $34.00) is warmer, glossier (90% similar). Makeup Geek Tango (LE, $12.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Melt Cosmetics Fiesta (P, $19.00) is cooler (90% similar). ColourPop Chew-holic (LE, $6.00) is darker, more muted, less pigmented (90% similar). MAC Burmese Kiss (LE, $19.00) is lighter, glossier (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty The Perfect Kiss (P, $55.00) is darker (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty So Sofia (236) (P, $30.00) is glossier (90% similar). ColourPop Naked Ladies (LE, $7.00) is lighter, brighter, glossier (90% similar). Chanel Fleur de Lotus (830) (P, $45.00) is more muted, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Tryst (P, $18.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Make Up For Ever #37 (DC, $19.00) is glossier (90% similar). Makeup Geek Chatterbox (P, $12.00) is cooler (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Watermelon (P, $28.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Lost Cherry (P, $37.00) is more muted, glossier (90% similar). NYX Angel (P, $6.00) is darker, more muted, glossier (85% similar). Chanel Vivant (144) (P, $45.00) is darker, warmer, glossier (85% similar). NYX Street Cred (P, $6.00) is cooler, glossier (90% similar). KVD Beauty Beloved (P, $20.00) is lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Brooklyn (P, $7.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Formula Summary: ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a long-wearing, pigmented lipstick that starts off glossy and dries down quickly to that super flat matte finish. They have minimal transfer with some of the lighter shades having almost none for the first few hours of wear, but any time you’ve had a meal, they lose that transfer-resistant quality to a noticeable degree. They tend to wear anywhere from six to ten hours with darker shades maintaining better color coverage and wear over a longer period of time. Some shades get a little drying about two-thirds to three-fourths through the wear, while a few shades have been fairly non-drying even many hours into wear. They fade away evenly with most color loss occurring from the center of the lips if eating a more oil-based meal but the majority of color survives a meal. Reapplication has been hit or miss and tends to depend on how well it wore away and how easily the shade applies normally, but reapplication tends to emphasize the lip’s natural texture significantly compared to initial application and gives lips a very wrinkled, dried-up look. I’ve layered gloss on top of some shades with moderate success, though it will obviously lose the matte finish and will transfer and I’ll get tiny flakes where the matte lip color has lifted by mixing with gloss but has been pretty minimal. The formula had no discernible taste or scent.

These are gorgeous, but Creeper seems to always be sold out. Ouija is totally my kind of shade.
My order finally arrived (late!). Oddly, the “weird” colors – Dr. M, Blondie, Guess – are really, really good. Dr. M especially is the best teal ever. *Ever.*
The two more “conventional” colors I got – Sundae and Trap – are pretty darn awful. Pigmentation and staying power is great, but they are super-drying and do that pulling thing (I’ve never had a liquid lipstick do that to me; I thought I had bullet-proof lips). Trap really shows my liplines and looks corpse-like grayish brown on me. I was expecting a bit more pink in it, but I’m betting I was just seeing reviewers’ natural lip color coming through a bit.
I’m experimenting with the two shades. I followed what you said about relaxing your face and smiling while they dried, and that did help a lot. I’m prepping with lip balm, too. I’m don’t think I’ll be buying any more, though.
Dr. M is a really cool shade! I’m so glad they did it 🙂
From what I hear, liquid lipsticks seem to be almost like nail polish and depend a lot from person to person (one formula that is amazing on one person is horrible on another).
I think all makeup is like that, really. Nothing works for everybody. For the price, I like 4 out of the 6. I think I can make Sundae work. There are other liquid lipstick formulas that work better for me, so that’s great.
If ColourPop came out with more funky colors like Dr. M that get good ratings, I could be enticed to give them a try. 😉
You have totally inspired me to buy Dr. M to give it a try, despite it not working out so well for Christine! I agree – the color is just too awesome to pass up!
I hope it works for you, Bonnie. Let us know. 🙂
Hey Rachel and Christine! I was wrong, I saw later that Christine gave Dr. M a good grade! I must have been thinking about a different shade from that second launch. I ordered Dr. M (along with 18375968262 other things!) last night for the Labor Day sale! Excited to try all the new things!!!
Not my colors (too bright) but glad they scored well
These two are quite bold!
I love both! Christine, when you rate these and give them an A , should I look at those shades as closer in quality to KVD’s formula? Basically, are these similar in texture to KVD’s liquid lipstick?
I don’t think they’re similar in texture to KVD – KVD is definitely not really thick, but these are on the thinner side and KVD is more forgiving. I’d still err KVD for quality, but it is nearly four times the price.
Ok. I think I personally would prefer a few of the higher quality ones. But, my lips can’t tolerate the super dryness. Thanks!
I cannot, for the life of me, get Ouiji right. Streak town! And forget about pressing your lips together! This one might be as bad as that LA Splash one Summer Bliss. I’m actually afraid to get more Ultra Mattes because of Mars and Ouiji. I do love Tulle though!
Oh no!! 🙁 Tulle is one of the best ones!
These two, along with Succulent and Mars, are my top picks for when I finally get around to ordering some of these! I love them both!
Some bold favorites ;D
Both look great, but I love Ouija!
Glad ya liked ’em!
I’m envious now, I really like Creeper!
Come on, ColourPop start shipping internationally!
Let’s do it, ColourPop!!
Ouiji is such a cool shade but on me people have to guess if it’s a red or pink. lol It looks like a Crayola Neon Red marker I had as a kid. *_*
lol!
The Ultra Mattes are my new obsession, but I’m hoping to see more deeper berries and reds soon.
Yay!!
