Cream Eyeshadows | 2016 Editor's Favorites
Here are my top 10 cream eyeshadows that I reviewed in 2016! No surprise that over half the list is ColourPop, which has such an outstanding cream eyeshadow formula with nearly neverending releases!

I love that so many are Colourpop! I’ve been indulging in them quite a bit this year. At $5 a ‘pop’, you can afford to test drive quite a few!
You can! Good thing, since they have so many, LOL!
I wanted Thirsty Girl but I never managed to get my hands on it. Seeker also looks really lovely.
Darn!
Do the MAC Spellbinder shadows count as creams? pressed? loose pigment (held together by magnets…I don’t think there is a category for that!). I got a few cream shadows this year – the Spellbinder in Mysterious Influence and the same Clarins Silver Plum one you mentioned, Christine, as well as Silver Green. I also picked up some Lise Watier and Shiseido cream shadows but I don’t think they were released this year – I just got them this year (in the case of my “newest” Shiseido one, Patina, I was actually given the counter sample by the Sales Associate at Shoppers Drug Mart when they weren’t able to get the actual product. It was the ONLY place I’d ever seen Patina….other Shoppers locations that carry Shiseido didn’t have it, nor did any of the department store Shiseido counters I went to. When the SA at Shoppers said I could just have this sample, I almost cried with joy (okay, that’s a bit of hyperbole, but only a bit!)
I feel like they’re somewhere between loose and pressed but I’d argue more like loose eyeshadow than pressed, haha 😉
I’m so glad you were able to at least try Patina!
A resounding “YES” to Colourpop! I did get most of the CP ones you listed: Thirsty Girl, Telepathy, Koosh, Weenie and Seeker. Love them all very much! My additional happy discoveries from CP include: Prickly Pear, Puppy Love, Mittens, Hammered and Muse! Honorable mention to Birthday Girl and School Bus!
Prickly Pear is a nice one! Hammered is a pretty olive green if memory serves me correctly…
Yep! The *perfect* deep olive green! ?
Ok, I have 5 of the 10 on this list! I know a shadow is top notch if it can survive my super oily lids, and ColourPop is consistently top notch. It’s one of the very, very few shadow brands that I will buy without swatches or reviews, and that’s saying a lot. And yes, love the unusual color and finish of Tom Ford Sphinx! Also, special love for Estee Lauder Scarlet Eclipse –it’s a red cream shadow paired with loose gold glitter, just stunning, was my fave shadow for holiday parties this year.
I can’t get over how long-wearing the ColourPop eyeshadows are!
Koosh and Silver Plum were my faves out of those. I’m still considering both but I don’t usually use cream shadow. Probably because I don’t own any any more!
What made you give up on cream eyeshadow, Erin?
Charlotte Tilbury Marie Antoinette- I could wear it every day.
That shade is beautiful!
This is the beauty of this blog, expensive old Tom Ford next to super inexpensive Colour Pop and the ratings are the same.
Thank you!
I totally agree! That’s the first thing I noticed on this posting, $5 ColourPop next to a $45 cream shadow from Tom Ford, and both are equally loved. It’s great this blog covers DS/ME/HE products; there’s great finds in every category and for every budget.
I’ve never been a fan of cream shadows until this morning when I got ready. I saw a YouTuber recently using new cream shadows from Revlon. I saw them in my loCal Walgreens drugstore so I picked up a couple to try. I can’t remember the shadow nane, but it is a purpley brown…beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Lasted all day without creasing. I’m sold. And my no buy-low buy starts tomorrow…or I could have tried some of these…eventually, right?
Yay! So happy you found a way to enjoy cream eyeshadows, Shari!
I love that so many were the affordable Colour Pop shadows. I just wish there were more permanent versus limited edition shades that made the list.
Yeah, unfortunately, CP has been doing a lot of LE shades this past year!
I just really have to RAVE about the Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color formula. Being over 25 with very thin eyelid skin, I feel like the texture of the cream is a lot more important and this one sits well on mine AND my mother (50 + ) eyelids! The formula is sooo lightweight, blendable and long wearing. I have tried three shades so far and loved them all!
Happy to hear you found a formula that works well for you, Antonia!
