I’m not a fan of brown, but I do have a couple of brownish shades. Maybelline’s Touch Of Spice pulls brown on me, so I just dab it on and wear it as a stain. I also have a L’Oreal Color Of Hope which looks brown in the tube but applies as a dirty rose gold. It’s actually one of my favourite shades.
Brownish works 🙂 I tend to prefer a rosy/plummy brown myself!

I am so excited brown lipsticks are back. For a while I couldn’t find them anywhere and I was so sad! I graduated high school in 1996, so I was all about brown lipsticks for a loooong time – through high school and college. My favorite was a chocolate cherry color. I am happy wearing them the second time around! Yay for brown lipstick!
Oh, forgot to mention that my current favorite is Ofra liquid lipstick in Americano.
Me too! Because I don’t think I would have tried that many based on a lot of the comments I’ve seen over the years about 90s makeup, you know? But they’re super flattering on me!
I like pink buff the best! But I suppose that’s because my favorite lipsticks are all pink ?

I like Stone. I like Sebastian, but it’s a bit too light for me. The Sebastian pencil is excellent — it goes with Stone, and with another surprise favorite of mine, Laura Mercier Milky Way, which seems like a neutral brown to me and looks great on me if I wear it with the Sebastian pencil. I keep Tom Ford Stavros with my brown lip colors, but I suppose it’s not really brown, more of a gray-ish/taupey/plummy color? Thank goodness there are at least a few cool browns out there, because warm brown lipsticks look really hideous on me. I can wear some warm pinks and some warm reds, even the occasional orange if it has a lot of pink or red in it, and I’m wearing NARS Redemption today, which looks gold on me, but I’ve yet to meet a warm brown or beige lipstick that looks good on me.

It was in Sephora’s Give Me More Lip collection this year. Otherwise I never would have thought to try it — just looking at it, it doesn’t look like it would be flattering on me. But a lot of Sephora reviewers complained about it being in the set, saying it would be unflattering on anyone, so my guess is that it does lean neutral-to-cool rather than warm (sometimes it’s hard for me to judge the undertones of products). It looks best on me if I line and fill in my lips with the Sebastian pencil first.

*And for an all out -back-to-90s brown, BITE Lip Lab 011 Swiss Chocolate—think I will top it with Too Faced Metallic Frozen Hot Chocolate, not sure if I want to wear this combo or eat it LOL

I personally find cool browns more interesting to wear against my skin. I picked up Sebastian recently and wear just a touch of it over lip balm for a casual but funky day lip. I tend to like warmer browns on really pale cool skin.. something about the contrast I guess always grabs me. I can wear some warmer browns, but most make me look like dog farts.
I like cooler browns, too! Do you have any other recs for a cooler brown, Wendy, beyond the four on the list?
The cool ones aren’t for me, but I like the warm ones! Estée Lauder Discreet is one of my personal faves.

While I definitely love TF Guillermo and UD 1993, I have been wearing MAC Royally Riotous a LOT lately! So much so that I just ordered a backup last night. This winter I’ve been going more subdued on my lips, ie; the aforementioned RR, MAC Deep Love, Too Faced Pink Chocolate, Guerlain Air Kiss. And also MAC All I Want lipstick topped with some VG V lipstick with Nyx Earthtone slim pencil ombreed underneath. It’s been an odd stretch, but I’m enjoying it! Presently, I have MAC Touch or their Huggable lipstick in Rich Marron on my list to get.
I love a good subdued lipstick, Nancy! Air Kiss is obviously a favorite in that category 😉
When I went to visit my son and go see Star Wars, I wore MAC Deep Love with Air Kiss over it, and DAYUM, it looked awesome!
These are gorgeous, and I don’t own a single one. I see a few for my wish list, though. 😉 I don’t wear browns often, though with all the new shades and finishes, I’m wearing more. ( I wore them some in the 90s, too, of course. )

brown lipstick has been kind of my thing lately – I guess I got swept up in the 90s craze. I was just sorting my lipstick drawer and realized how many I had, lol. from colourpop I love the grunge lippie stix and the liquid lipsticks in kapow, stingraye, and tulle (which pulls brown-ish on me). Maybelline super stay in unlimited raisin is similar to tulle in that it’s a reddish plummish color that looks brown on me. and I love kat von d piaf for something darker and weirder
I think a lot of the browns we see today are an update from 90s browns (even though there are some definite straight 90s browns here now). It’s very cool to see!
Yeah , I think brownish shades are better on cool skin than full on brown. Roman is a rood one. I do like some brownish vampy shades from NARS. Torte from Bite is kinda brownish.

My favourite warm brown is Dior’s ‘Rouge Dior’ in Brun Samarcande (434), and my favourite cold tone is Laura Mercier’s ‘Creme smooth lip color’ in Milky Way. I love browns! I might need CT’s Birkin Brown though…

Mac Whirl is a favorite! I receive so many compliments whenever I wear it and I use it if I can’t think of anything else to wear.
I also wear the Kat Von D liquid lipstick in Double Dare, even it lean towards the reddish-pink side. lol I’m just a sucker when it comes to the plummy-pink brown lipsticks that are warm toned for me.

I’m a chocolate girl, so Browns have always been my thing. My favorite Browns are Milani’s Teddy Bare, MAC Touch, Revlon Fig Jam, MAC Photo and Film Noir, LimeCrime’s Salem, and Bite Beauty’s Cognac.

I am a huge fan of brown hued lipsticks. Here are my favourites:
1. Milani Statement lipsticks in Candied Toffee and Bronze Metal
2. Maybelline Colour Sensational Range: Untainted Spice, In Style Sienna, Bronzed Metal
3. Revlon: Sandstorm, Terracotta
4. Portland Black Lipstick Company: Bad Penny
All, apart from the Revlon ones, are really moisturizing and lovely to wear.

Nars Deborah is my favorite brown lipstick – It looks like a chocolate brown on me.

All over red browns and brown reds. Some are pre 90s. Kevyn did a whole line for Revlon U2 that was fab…the first Nakeds. Newish ones not mentioned are Deborah, Bite 11, Milky Way, Sandra, and Dulce de Leche. Gotta dip into Grunge, 1993, Nude Nuance, and Birkin Brown has been calling me since it was issued. Maybe when i do a Beautylish order on WG brushes. Big Love for brown. Maybe some pale KVD. Yes to brown.

Birkin brown, Guillermo, cognac are beautiful. Brown shades are my nudes for my skin tone. I love Revlon’s cinnamon spice and toast of New York. Most of the brown shades that I enjoy have a shimmer, bronze/copper or red tone to it.
I have to look into those Revlon shades soon!
I have some brown toned lipsticks, but none of these. I do think Cognac looks awesome.

I can’t wear much brown toned lippy; makes me look dead! The two I have that do work are a CK lipstick in a dark plummy brown (shade name Velvet, I think?), and MAC lip pencil in Auburn.
Do you think the plummy brown from CK works well for you?
