Sneak Peek: Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette Photos & Swatches

Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette

Here’s a quick look at the upcoming Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette ($45.00 for 0.54 oz.) that releases on January 12th on urbandecay.com (it will be available at other retailers later this spring, but I don’t have an exact date). It’s a large palette and contains a fair amount of product. If you’re familiar with the eyeshadow palette, the packaging is quite similar. The blush formula is the current powder formulation they have in their permanent range (Afterglow) with shades that range from pink to berry to gold and finishes that range from satin to frost. I’m working on getting images ready for the lipsticks and lip pencils next, and I am trying to test and review as much prior to the launch date as possible, but I do not expect to finish testing the lip pencils in time (my apologies — there just aren’t enough hours between now and the launch date to wear them all).

Oh, Christine. You are such a sweetheart! <3 No need to apologize for lack of testing time on the liners. You are the busiest and best at getting consumers info. Your plate is full and there are so many huge launches right now to get through. Getting these up so fast exemplifies your work ethic. There's nothing for which to apologize 🙂

Also, I initially wasn’t too into the blush palette but swatches have changed my mind. Won’t get much use out of Lo-Fi since it’s a hint warm to work as a nude blush on me (and certainly too warm to bronze with for me) but it’s such a high-value. The Afterglow formula really is outstanding. Cherry will work as a lovely highlight for many and nice illuminating blush for fellow ghosts of vampires. Easy reminds me of NARS Robotic, which was such a lovely color. And that duochrome effect on OC is great. Don’t think I have a sheer peach with that much multi-tonal sheen in it. Would be nice if Lo-Fi was something more contour-colored since I think it would suit more skin tones and various applications that way but it does look nice for what it is and I’m sure many will rock it as a nude blush.

Haha exactly. They’re UD lip liners. They will likely wear far too long for you to possibly fit in right now. And yeah, OC seems like a wonderful mixing color. I love the tonal balance they strike there. I think it will look really unique and exquisite on everyone. Plus, the peach will balance well with the orangey tones in Lo-Fi. I’m sure I’ll find plenty of ways to mix it into a nude that works for me.

I think the whole palette will work best as layering options. Looks like all of these complement tons of available blush shades and will act as nicely colored illuminators or mixing shades. Even just within the palette. Cherry could be deepened with Easy and Lo-Fi sheened up with OC. Angel and Hush will produce a nice color mix that I could see being very versatile. Seems like mixing and layering was a major intention behind the design of the collection, which is smart for the more pale tones that Gwen would wear. Increases wearability across tones.

The blushes look gorgeous, but the color scheme/formula reminds me of my Becca Afterglow palette. Hmm, will have to think about this one

Man, every picture I see of this palette is so different color wise! I like the look of the colors (though that blue based pink seems very light) though so I’m hoping it’s worth the purchase.

🙁 Like I thought, this doesn’t look like it will work very well on my NW50 complexion… maybe Easy will show on the cheeks and Angel as a highlight, but not worth it for 2 shades. Disappointed.

Gorgeous colours! Based on the pictures, my favourites are Easy and Hush. Angel looks like it could be used as a highlighter. Oh and I have to say that I love UD’s packagings!

These look really beautiful swatched!!Im so glad! The only one that isn’t really wowing me is Lo-Fi,but the rest stunning!I really like the look of OC very pretty.

The swatches looks stunning and I love the Afterglow formula. Unfortunately I think I’d only get use from 2 of the shades. I think I’m going to pass on this one. I’ll be hoping they bring Cherry and Easy out in singles though! Thanks so much for you work on getting these out to us.

I like this, but I think I’m still on the fence… I don’t think it’s in the budget this month, but if it’s still around in February, I’ll likely pick it up. Since these palettes are on the fairer end of the spectrum, I think there’s a good chance these won’t be flying off shelves in my area (ULTA, Sephora/JCP, Sephora, & Macy’s still had oodles of the eyeshadow palette as of last night in my local mall!). Either way, if I miss out, I won’t be terribly disappointed. I grabbed my Vice Reloaded palette yesterday, which is at the top of my list, and I’m still contemplating the NARS palette, so…

I had no interest in this palette before seeing your swatches. Wow, some interesting duochrome type effects going on. OC especially looks really unique. I think I could probably wear all of them except Lo-Fi. I’m not too wild about the packaging though. Still, tempting!

Hey, thanks for finding out that these actually ARE afterglow formula. It gives us so much more confidence. Only have 1 afterglow, but agree with the consensus that it is an excellent formula. This is a nice assortment for lighter complexions, but will not be universal by any means. Glad that UD did not throw out a bunch of lesser quality product, based on a celeb factor. Maybe the reason for the less popularity of the e/s palette is more the choice of colors…..people may have expected a Gwen thing to be more colorful… than the quality of the palette. The whole expectations thing is totally a factor in m/u. I think this is true with food, too. If ST does not taste like your expectation, even if Jasper White made it, and it’s fantabulous, you WON’T like it. Maybe I need to check the e/s palette, after all. First, your dupes, natch.

I’m actually really surprised at just how much I love this. What you see in the pan doesn’t come close to the swatches! I’m particularly in love with OC; I’ve never seen a pale bronze with a pink reflex before!

Thanks for getting everything swatched for us. No need to apologize!

Alecto Avatar

OC is a true duochrome! I wasn’t interested in these until I saw the swatches. They really are a little unusual and would all work well on my gold-undertone skin (except Cherry, which could be used as a layering blush — I certainly have nothing like it!).

Danielle Sharkster Avatar

OMG You read my mind!!! I still have mine!!! It’s one of my all time favorites! Blushes like that don’t come around too often!!! I’M very excited for this palette!!! Thank you for the swatches, Christine!!! You’re the BEST!!!!!

Karine Avatar

I SO agree with you two!!! Spaced Out was the second MAC blush I ever bought and my mom also used it so it’s almost gone :(. One more argument to convince me I need the palette…

Fran Avatar

These are some really pretty and interesting shades, but there’s way too much orange in the palette to suit me personally. I can get away with a bit of orange on my lids or lips (although it does really stand out against my coloring), but it just looks really strange on my cheeks. Cherry and Easy would probably look really good on me, though. These shades definitely make sense for Gwen’s coloring, not so much for cooler or darker complexions.

Sarah S. Avatar

They are beautiful. Maybe this can be a birthday gift to myself, or something. I do have one other blush palette that has many shades (the Benefit one they had Christmas 2014) but maybe I can still justify buying this one, lol!

Kat Avatar

Hmmm, is that a duochrome I see on OC? Very interesting! But probably not the palette for me, I have a feeling I’ll have dupes (or at least shades close on the family tree, so to speak) for more than half of the shades.

Valerie Avatar

Hmmm, so tempting. The pink shades are beautiful. Well truthfully they are all beautiful, but I just don’t know how it’s going to look on my skin. Shimmers can easily age me. Also the nude colors, don’t know if they will even show up. I may have to test in person before I commit! Thanks for the swatches – you may have saved my bank account!

Andrea Avatar

???I’m so loving this palette! This is on the top of my list to scoop up on Tuesday. Cherry is a bit light, but if I mix it with some bronzer, I think I can still make it work for my deep/dark skin (I wear C8 from Mac). From your swatches, easy is my fav.

Lorraine Avatar

It seems like four of those could almost be highlighters? I wish there were more color shades…I’ve been looking for a blush palette but I think that the too faced version is more my style.
