Editor's Review

The formula is supposed to have "long-lasting color" that's "buildable" with "glowing pigments" that give the "illusion of wider, fuller lips." Some shades are buildable while others are fairly pigmented in one stroke. The consistency was more velvety, lightweight, and thin without being clingy or drying over time. I found that some shades were flattering on, as they didn't emphasize lip texture or get into my lip lines, while other shades gravitated into my lip lines. They wore between three and five hours and were typically non-drying. There was no discernible scent or taste.

Claims / Ingredients

Create the illusion of fuller, wider lips with my Matte Revolution – for lips that look lit from within. It’s a trick I use all the time on photo shoots, using lighting trickery, pigments and powders, and have been working for years to re-create this effect in the slick of 1 lipstick. Now everyone can create this full, matte lip effect in a long-lasting, buildable, hydrating formula – it’s the matte lipstick of the future! Exclusively enriched with Lipstick Tree extract which protects lips and is a natural anti-oxidant, and Orchid Extract which soothes and hydrates for a soft, buildable cashmere finish. Available in 10 modern-matte shades for all skin tones – 1 for each of my signature looks. Amazing Grace is inspired by Grace Kelly, a vintage tea rose for pretty, polished perfection a la Nicole Kidman and Miranda Kerr.

I love this formula. Matte, but still feels creamy and doesn't dry out my lips. Great color for golden undertones and light-medium skin tones.

I find the formula irritating and a little dry. I expected more from the brand.

The texture and wear are great, as is the packaging. I liked this color in the tube, but it just didn't work with my skin tone; it seemed to have a gray tint to it when it was on my lips. I have fair skin with a generally neutral undertone but with a cool pink/red tone on my lips and cheeks. This color would have looked fine on a "younger" me, but not on the currently-aged me.

I have a tiny sample size of Pillow Talk, so perhaps there's a difference between the sample and the full size. I was so excited to get the sample, but the color is not at all what I expected. On Charlotte Tilbury's website it is described as a "dreamy pink nude," and Sephora calls it simply a "pink nude." The pictures included on those two sites make it appear somewhat cool toned or at least not aggressively warm. But on me, it appears VERY warm toned. If I apply a light layer, I'd say it looks like a warm pink. If I apply it a little more heavily, it comes out as almost a bright coral. Not only is it not "pink," it's not a "nude," either. Admittedly I am very fair, so a a lipstick that is "nude" for people with light-medium to medium skin is going to pull much darker on me, but the almost coral warmth of this shade was a surprise based on how it is described. The texture is very nice. It does give a bit of a smoothing effect on my lips. It has a slight slip when first applied but seems to dry out a bit during wear. It's not moisturizing but not excessively drying. After a day of wear I feel that my lips could use a balm but not completely parched either. It lasts through sipping and light snacks but is gone after an actual meal. It does last longer with a lip liner in a similar shade underneath. The sample lipstick has a light sweet vanilla scent that is very reminiscent of the MAC lipstick vanilla scent. I personally like the scent but YMMV. The 3 stars is more for the confusion on shade description.

For me this colour is more on the plum side than the one in the pictures. I would say it is a darker shade than Secret Salma, more evening I would say.

This lipstick will always be one of my favorites in terms of formula and colour. Let's start with the colour -- I've never seen anything quite like it, even with my collection of my-lips-but-better shades in their various iterations. Interestingly, after looking at various photos from lip swatches and reviews to help me make my decision, I felt that every person wearing this colour had slightly different (but good results). I was certainly not disappointed when I tried it on. The colour is pretty much exactly as CT describes it -- a natural berry (I think). Due to the buildable pigment, one swipe is indeed very subtle and natural. A couple more swipes gives you solid, long-lasting but non-drying colour. I have eaten meals with this lipstick on and I am happy to report that it wears quite minimally for a tube lipstick, and will not leave your lips with THAT butthole look that is the bane of many lipstick enthusiasts' existences. Also, the formula is very lightweight and comfortable. This is definitely not a one-swipe-full-coverage type lipstick, and I was slightly alarmed when discovering that, since the price of this thing isn't exactly cheap. There also isn't a lot of product in the tube. But given the slightly more solid consistency, I do think that this tube will be lasting a while (couple years). I will definitely be repurchasing when I run out, which goes to show how much I love this lipstick.

Beautiful colour, not too orangey, not too red. Luxurious packaging I use it with a nude-pink lipliner. After a few hours it gets dry and starts to fade, but a quick coat of sheer lip balm fixes this. Goes on well without the aid of a lip brush, but of course you will get a better result using a brush.

I have fair skin and freckles this shade pops on me. It's rather intense. It lasts and is not as drying as other matte lip sticks.

This is a beautiful lipstick, it's matte and it's a shade that would probably suit anyone. Usually, I don't really like pink, I don't think it suits me, but this one is more of a muted rose-y pink. The only downside to this lipstick is that it's a bit drying, so if you have really dry lips, I don't recommend this one.
