YSL Burgundy Love, Mauve Cuir, Rose Afrique Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Sticks Reviews & Swatches
Burgundy Love (85)
YSL Burgundy Love (85) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium-dark, reddened plum with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had medium color payoff that was buildable to shy of semi-opaque coverage. The lipstick had a smooth, emollient consistency that skated across my lips with ease, but it did not feel overly slippery nor did it move around noticeably while worn. The color applied evenly, while the finish smoothed out most of my lip lines. It lasted well for five hours, left a faint stain behind, and was moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview
$38.00/0.11 oz. - $345.45 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "deeply hydrating" and "melt" onto the lips with a "pop of color" and give long-term hydration. It is described as having "medium coverage" and "irreverent shine." The color coverage was typically medium, as described, though some of the deeper shades were more buildable to semi-opaque coverage.
They're a very, very creamy, emollient formula; they slip-slide as they melt against the lips during application, and it feels luxurious to apply but can be easily over-applied. It's just the type of texture that lends itself to over-application without adding more coverage, so I recommend being mindful in order to ensure you'll get plenty of usage out of each tube. Fortunately, once on, they don't feel thick or overly slippery, so it doesn't feel like the lipstick is constantly moving while worn.
They have a high-shine, almost glossy, finish that often smoothed out my lip lines without settling into them, and the latter made it more impressive due to the amount of color and slip. The wear time varied from shade to shade but typically landed between three and five hours. Some shades leave a faint stain behind--usually the mid-tone and darker hues. The formula has a sweet, mango scent but no discernible taste.

Mauve Cuir (86)
YSL Mauve Cuir (86) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a muted, medium coral with strong, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had medium color payoff with even, smooth application that seemed to even out my natural lip color a bit as well. The texture felt lightweight, emollient and cream-like as it glided nicely across my lips, but it didn’t feel too wet, thick, or slippery while I wore it, so it seemed to stay in place and never showed “lines” if I pressed my lips together (often an issue with more balm-like formulas). The lipstick stayed on well for three and a half hours and was hydrating over time.

Burgundy love is really beautiful.
Gorgeous shades and I love Burgundy Love.
Again, lovely shades. Only Burgundy Love would work for me and I have dozens of these shades. I do like the formula however, so think it would be good for someone who doesn’t have a million of these shades.
Rose Afrique and Mauve Cuir both look like lovely mlbb type shades! But I’d need to try them on to see if either one was truly “special” on me personally. For $38, it needs to be!
Hey Christine, do these leave a stain after they wear out?
Hi Natalia,
Please check the reviews and “formula overview” – e.g. Burgundy Love’s review says: “It lasted well for five hours, left a faint stain behind, and was moisturizing while worn.”
Oh god, so sorry! I had only read the formula overview for the Mauve Cuir shade.
