Skin Tone/Coloring: NW-5, KVD L41/2, Tom Ford Alabaster. Neutral undertone.
Favorite Look of the Week: I did a really fun pink-purple smoked look using a combination of Pat McGrath La Vie en Rose, Natasha Denona Lila, and Natasha Denona Purple/Blue palette. Duochrome pink champaign on the inner corners, hot pink on the first third, blending into purple/plum/gray. It was very fun.
Most Used Product of the Week: Probably a combo of Wayne Goss brushes, the new PMG mini Mothership palettes, and ND Aeris.
New Discoveries: Clearly I bought a lot of new palettes so mostly those haha. La Vie en Rose is my favorite of the new PMG minis but they’re all completely fantastic and I’m so glad she finally has palettes accessible at a lower price point. Natasha Denona Aeris is new to me this week and it’s very unique! Tropic isn’t the same quality as Lila, my absolute favorite ND palette, but I still really enjoy it and like the odd combos I’ve made with it. And I’m hoping to get some of the new Sonia G brushes that work with creams and powders by the end of the month.
I just bought Aeris last week and LOVE it! So glad I didn’t miss out on that one.
I’ve been on the fence about La Vie En Rose since the day it was released. I very much want it but some of the reviews cause me to hesitate. I wish I could see it in person.
I haven’t seen any negative ones yet but for me La Vie en Rose is perfect. Superb quality 🙂
My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Favorite look you worn: UD Backtalk Palette. EYES — UD Primer Potion in Enigma. Three sheets (crease to brows), Shade (crease), 180 (outer corners; smudged over Stila Smudge Stick in Lionfish on lower lashline), and curve (lid). MUG Bitten (brows). UD 24/7 Pencil in Perversion (upper waterline). UD Troublemaker Mascara. CHEEKS — Cheap Shot. LIPS — Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Scorpio. FACE — Nyx Angel Veil; BareMinerals BareSkin Foundation in Bare Porcelain 01, e.l.f. HD Powder in Sheer, Party Foul highlighter, Sephora Collection Colorful Face Powder in Tranquil (contour), and e.l.f. Mist & Set.
Most used product of the week: UD Primer Potion in Enigma, Nyx Angel Veil, UD Troublemaker Mascara, UD Eye Pencil in Perversion.
Any new beauty discoveries: No; things have been crazy here the last couple weeks. I’ve only worn makeup twice in that time.
Think I’ll try your look tomorrow and see how sucky it comes out! Ya, you betcha. Good job scoring the Lunatick contour 2. Looks fab, always wl’ed , but backburnered. Prob will do singles instead, eventually. Love your choices.
LOL. I”m so sorry you got a bad palette. I’m hearing such mixed things about this palette. It seems to either suck or be “OK.” Mine’s been good so far, but it’s not a “must have” or even one of UD’s best. I didn’t have the problem with Shade fading that Courtney/Phyrra had. I agree with your comment on that thread that there seems to be a QC issue or something.
Thanks re: Contour 2. A lot of the shades I actually wanted for my eyes, and probably won’t “contour” with any of them except maybe at Halloween. If I went full on goth white face, though, the grays would be perfect. This one has more blush shades, too.
My skin tone/coloring: Light neutral skin tone, green eyes, dark hair
Favorite look worn: Well, I’m pretty boring this week…this is almost the same as last week. MAC Eyeshadows (simplified description: Kid in crease, Satin Taupe on lid, and Vanilla on brow bone), Clinique Brow Shaper in Charcoaled (plus Clinique Superfine Brow Liner to fine tune the tails), Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara, Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation in Desert Beige, Tarte Shape Tape concealer, RCMA No Color Powder, NARS powder blush in Orgasm, a light touch of Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Highlighter 01 on my cheekbones, and Givenchy Lipstick in Framboise Velours.
Most used product of the week: Everything listed in the last question except I wore a different lipstick every day.
Any new beauty discoveries: Got a generous sample jar of Dior Dreamskin from a super nice Dior sales associate. It makes my skin feel so amazing, but it’s out of my price range, so I’ll just enjoy the luxury until the sample runs out. It should last almost two weeks if I use it once a day.
My skin tone/coloring: Fair, cool
Favorite look you worn: Dior Forever foundation (a sample of the discontinued formula, which I liked so much), Dior Rosy Glow Blush, Clinique’s Jenna’s Essentials quad on my eyes (the darkest, green-tinged black, pressed into my Gosh Truly Brown pencil liner and the 3 lighter shades worn pretty predictably); Smashbox Legendary lipstick
Most used product of the week: Jenna’s Essentials Quad and Fresh Sugar Rose lip treatment
Any new beauty discoveries: the Fresh lip treatment in Sugar Rose…I found it in the bottom of a samples bag so much have received it at some Sephora event. I’d never buy these (too bendy/squishy-soft to use) but I’ve received several of them over the years and enjoy using them since I have them).
My skin tone/coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones, MAC NC37, Lancôme Teint Idole Foundation N360, Fenty ProFilt’r Foundation 260 or 290, deep brunette, blue-green eyes w/ gold flecks.
Favorite look you worn: That’s a tossup! Yesterday, I wore a golden eye look with PMG Golden Nectar all over my lid, with MAC Tete-A-Teint as transition, Uninterrupted in crease, Nylon in inner corners, kitten flicked liner using a brush with MJ Blaquer Highliner and a very old brown Nyx Slide-on Waterproof Eye Pencil on lower lashline. Went for MAC Mittai Pink on lips and used MAC Sweet Visions on cheeks with a bit of Maybelline Molton Rose Gold Highlighter. The look from the day before was a stunner, too! Using 5 out of 6 shades from PMG La Vie En Rose on my eyes (Purple Reign is my favorite purple eyeshadow!), winged eyeliner, lots of mascara, UD Noho mixed with X-rated, Jawbone to contour, CP Angel Food to highlight, Guerlain Air Kiss Lipstick w/ a very small amount of Huda Shameless gloss dabbed and smushed over it.
Can we tell how in love I am with La Vie En Rose????
Most used product of the week: Pat McGrath MTHRSHP La Vie En Rose!!!
Any new beauty discoveries: Hmm… possibly regarding my hair? Stay tuned, it could get interesting if I do what I’m thinking of!
My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Favourite look you worn: I used the Lorac Pro Palette, with the peach shade over the lid, taupe in the crease and a touch of the olive green in the middle of the mobile lid and paired it with my EA Cayenne Pearl lipstick. The Pro Metals palette is such a versatile one for me.
Most used product of the week: All my staples, as I have been using random eye palettes and lipsticks every day.
Any new beauty discoveries: Nope.
That sounds like a really pretty eye color combination.
Thank you Rachel – it’s been such a good little palette that I don’t know why I took so long to buy it. It has all the shades I would use and none of the excess baggage of those that I wouldn’t.
Skin tone: Very pale with cool undertones, MAC NW 5-10
Favorite look: I really only wore makeup twice this week and neither was anything other than just my usual base products with Omega on the eyes and L’Oréal Colour Riche Shine (2 different shades) on my lips. I received my package from Japan today and with my Spokane purchases I am hoping to have more makeup play time this week!
Most used products: My base products and the L’Oréal Colour Riche lippie in Map to Nirvana.
Beauty discoveries: I was watching Lisa Eldridge’s YT video with Kate Bosworth and she talked about how to hide hyperpigmentation that is right on the tops of your cheek and basically how after you have worked to cover it and then you apply a cream blush/highlight and it displaces your clever cover up. She talked about mixing a small amount of the cream blush/highlighter with a little of your concealer or foundation and tapping that just on the discoloration. This is something I have struggled with because my hyperpigmentation is right on the top of my cheekbones. I tried this yesterday and was surprised by how well it hid my problem area and still looked like my blush was in place.
I started putting translucent micro powder on my eyelashes in between mascara coats, and it’s been a great try out. It’s been helping the mascara grip the eyes lashes better, especially in between coats!
I’ve only tried it with my butter London double decker, and tarteist mascara, but so far it’s proving to work out!
My skin tone/coloring: fair/warm
Favorite look you worn: MUR 24k Gold Palette (gold on lid, dark green on outer corner), elf Studio Blush in Tickled Pink, Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter in Sin, and all of my daily products.
Most used product of the week: Makeup Revolution 24k Gold Chocolate Eyeshadow Palette
Any new beauty discoveries: my mom gave me more of the Clinique bonus bag lipsticks she’s accumulated…a new favorite is Pink Spice!
My skin tone/coloring: fair and cool skin, gray eyes, brown hair with natural red highlights and scattered blonde and blue strands.
Favorite look you worn: It’s a 3-way tie between Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Face (for all 3 looks): L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion foundation-C3 Creamy Natural, Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin concealer-10 Ivory, CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder-120 Creamy Natural, BellaPierre mineral blush-Autumn Glow. Tuesday eyes: Urban Decay eyeshadow-Midnight Cowboy, Kat Von D x Billie Joe Armstrong Basket Case Anti-Precision eyeliner, Tom Ford Extreme Lash & Brow Tint-copper. Tuesday lips: L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive lipstick-620 Julianne’s Nude. Wednesday eyes: the blue shade from the Revlon Color Charge Color Collage shadow palette, Basket Case, Sephora V for V.O.L.U.M.E. mascara-turquoise. Wednesday lips: L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive La Vie En Rose lipstick-707 Doutzen’s Pink. Friday eyes: Urban Decay Electric palette-Slowburn*, Basket Case, YSL The Shock mascara-3 Rough Burgundy. Friday lips: Sephora Rouge Cream lipstick-R49 Belly-dancing.
Most used product of the week: As you may be able to tell from the looks above, Basket Case has proved surprisingly versatile.
Any new beauty discoveries: Friday I didn’t realize my Slowburn was too pale until I’d already left the house and I couldn’t put any more on because I didn’t have it with me. I stopped in a restroom and put a few drops of water on my lids and it darkened up nicely.
Tuesday’s look is a variation on a look I’ve worn in the past-I call the original look the “Greenwich Loser” because it’s inspired by Kaitlin Olson as Mickey on The Mick. All I did this time was change the eyeliner-the Greenwich Loser used Estée Lauder eyeliner in Blackened Cocoa, whereas Basket Case made Tuesday a variation I call the “Greenwich Punk”. I just submitted the Greenwich Punk for community viewing!
*Before anyone mentions it, yes, I know about the “Slowburn, Savage, Jilted, Urban not for use on eyes” warning on the Electric palette-the main reason it’s on there is that those 4 shades use a red dye that’s been deemed safe in Europe but has never been tested by the US FDA. My mom worried about the warning when I first got the palette, so I called Urban Decay customer service and they said not to use it if your eyes have makeup sensitivities or for tightlining on the waterlines. I don’t have makeup sensitivities and have never had problems using those 4 shades as eyeshadow.
