Urban Decay Speedball Revolution Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.09 oz.) is described as a “deep, vibrant purple.” It’s a brightened, meidum-dark purple with warm, pinky undertones, very fine magenta and violet pearl, and a glossy sheen. ColourPop Leather (DC, $7.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Own the Look (LE, $19.00) is less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Zipper (P, $6.50) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Strong Woman (LE, $19.00) is lighter, warmer, less glossy (90% similar). Sephora What's My Secret (05) (P, $13.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Anastasia Vintage (P, $20.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Heroine (P, $19.00) is lighter, brighter, less glossy (80% similar). MAC Punk Couture (P, $19.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). Urban Decay Pandemonium (DC, $18.00) is cooler, less glossy (85% similar). Urban Decay Jawbreaker (DC, $18.00) is cooler, less glossy (85% similar). ColourPop Lychee (LE, $6.50) is lighter, less glossy (85% similar). Maybelline Vibrant Violet (P, $7.99) is lighter, less glossy (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

This is a new shade that’s been added to the Revolution Lipstick range that is exclusive to UrbanDecay.com. If you’re unfamiliar with the Revolution formula, it’s supposed to have a “super creamy texture” with “insane pigmentation” while being a hydrating, long-wearing formula. The consistency of this is light-medium in thickness but feels fairly lightweight with a smidgen of tackiness that develops over time. It had more slip than some shades in the range, and it was only semi-opaque for me, so it didn’t apply as evenly (or look as smooth) as I would have liked (or compared to many shades in the formula). Applied, it wore for six hours, and it was nicely hydrating, but I had some color settle into lip lines. I’m so happy to see more and more purple lipsticks making it front and center these days–it feels like purple lip is a minor trend this year.

Guess, I really like this color because I already have 3 of the dupes ( Leather, Vibrant Violet, and Heroine). If I add some lip balm to Leather, I can make it glossy and sheer it out, so no need to get this one, but it’s still gorgeous.

Hmmm, I love the shade itself, but I’m wondering about the uneven coverage, though. Like whether wearing a lipliner might help? Or whether my lips higher level of pigmentation might help it out? Yeah, my lips have a weird brownish-plummy-mauve thing going on!

That answered what I was wondering. I have Leather, but find it a little dry-ish. I also have the leather lip liner. Okay, it is confirmed-I need this. Maybe it will encourage some sideways looks (wink, wink Nancy T.(;

It looks a lot like the purple MUFE Plexigloss. Obviously some difference in finish and glossiness levels – one’s a lipstick, one’s a gloss! – but the actual shade is very reminiscent of how the Plexigloss looks on my lips.

I love this shade! I will need to get this the next time I order or if they offer a free shipping code. I don’t like that it is UD exclusive because: it’s impossible to try on unless you can get to SoCal and and I think UD should get more modern and offer free shipping or at least rival ColourPop at $30. But, $50 for free and then I think it’s $8 or so to ship. If it were $3,fine..I’d probably cave.
On another non-grouch pants note, Christine (or anybody) do you happen to know if those 2 sheers you reviewed today are exclusives also? I didn’t see them on Sephora.com?

Yes! Love it!!! It’s not so bad that I won’t consider buying it. Glad it’s permanent so I don’t have to rush to grab it! 😀
(Minor quibble – I really dislike the name. Having a brother who died from drug usage, drug references used flippantly in names like this kinda make me cringe a little.

Oooh, I’ve been waiting to see someone review this since someone on reddit posted swatches of all the exclusives at the flagship store! A little more slip isn’t a bad thing, I really like the revolution formula for weartime, but I do like a bit more slip in my lipsticks, ideally.

Still wish I could swatch it, but I’ve got an UD coupon that’s burning a hole in my pocket that I’ll use on this. Might wait til the holiday F&F thing they usually do, it is good until the end of the year. (And I can wait, I don’t NEED another purple lipstick, but I need another purple lipstick.)

I know Urban Decay chooses racy names for their products, but Speedball? Really Urban Decay, Speedball as a name, really? Why not just name your product “heroin and cocaine mixed in a syringe to be shot up in a vein” because that is what a speedball is.
