Pop Queen

Urban Decay Pop Queen Decades Mini Eyeshadow Palette ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a new, limited edition six-pan palette that included three (mostly) matte and three shimmery eyeshadows. The quality ranged from decent to disappointing; in a way, it performed more in line with expectations, which is a sad state of affairs! I remember the days when Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes were a lot more reliable in quality.

Scrunchie

Scrunchie is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation with a soft, lightly powdery texture, but it was blendable. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

$19.00/0.05 oz. - $380.00 Per Ounce

The formula is typically described as "high-pigment" that "stays on your lids" and goes on "seamlessly." Their permanent range has a lot of fantastic shades in it, and many of them are pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. Some of their matte are real workhorse kind of shades with soft, smooth, silky, and blendable textures, while their shimmers and pearly shades are very rich in payoff and apply beautifully to the lid. They wear between seven and nine hours on me, depending on the shade and finish.

Superstar

Superstar is a bright, medium blue with strong, cool undertones and barely-there golden pearl over a matte finish. It had mostly opaque color payoff that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer, but there was light fallout during application. The consistency was finely-milled and silky to the touch but a little powdery. It lasted well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Club Scene

Club Scene is a brighter, medium yellow with warmer undertones and a metallic finish. It seemed almost more yellow than gold but straddled the line between the two. The texture was soft, slightly thinner but not to the point where it was difficult to work with or overly powdery. It had opaque color coverage that stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Dance It Out

Dance It Out is a medium purple with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of iridescent green and violet micro-sparkle. It had sheer color coverage as it was very stiff and firm, which made it particularly difficult to use. It wasn’t much improved by using a fingertip or a dampened brush (this was better than a fingertip, actually). What little translated to my eye lasted for six hours at best.

Like a V

Like a V is a medium berry with subtle, cool undertones and a faint, iridescent pearl. It had semi-opaque color payoff in a single layer, which did not build up well and had a tendency to look more muted after a few minutes of being on my lid. The texture was thin, slightly dry, though not powdery. It wore decently for six and a half hours on me.

Hart

Hart is a light, peachy orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It was incredibly powdery, which resulted in sheer to semi-sheer color payoff that didn’t build up and had a lot of fallout during application. It stayed on decently for six hours before fading noticeably.

I hope UD improves its quality rather than having 50% off sales all the time. Both the quality & price are going down. I haven’t got anything from them after Naked2 which was my first eyeshadow purchase from Sephora (and it got lost during a trip…) Hope one day it’d be on the front row again.

Not colours that I would wear (except for Dance It Out) but, honestly, how very disappointing that this is such a poor performer. What the heck is happening with UD? These are colours they should be able to produce in the A level of performance and without even breaking a sweat, so to speak.
