1993

Urban Decay 1993 Decades Mini Eyeshadow Palette ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that contained two matte eyeshadows and four shimmery eyeshadows. The quality was decent–one shade was more of a miss–with more semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation and fairly blendable textures. It didn’t have the best longevity, and there was some fallout to contend with.

Beep Me

Beep Me is a bright, off-white with subtle, warmer undertones and a frosted finish. It had rich pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered decently to bare skin, but the texture was more powdery and thicker, so there was some unevenness that I had to smooth out using a fingertip. It lasted for eight hours before fading visibly.

The formula is typically described as "high-pigment" that "stays on your lids" and goes on "seamlessly." Their permanent range has a lot of fantastic shades in it, and many of them are pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. Some of their matte are real workhorse kind of shades with soft, smooth, silky, and blendable textures, while their shimmers and pearly shades are very rich in payoff and apply beautifully to the lid. They wear between seven and nine hours on me, depending on the shade and finish.

Seattle

Seattle is a pale blue with cool undertones and a frosted sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a slightly drier, thinner consistency that had some powderiness in the pan. It showed signs of fading after seven hours of wear.

69

69 is a medium brown with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was somewhat powdery, so there was light fallout and the more opaque coverage tended to sheer out a bit in practice. It was blendable, at least, and stayed on nicely for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Collect Call

Collect Call is a deep, reddish-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It applied much darker than it appeared in the pan. The texture was lightly powdery but soft, smooth, and blendable on bare skin. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage that wore well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Totally Rad

Totally Rad is a light-medium pink with strong, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that was hard to build up, even when applied with a fingertip. The texture was lightly emollient to the touch, thin but not powdery or dry, but it just did not have great adhesion. It wore decently for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Grunge

Grunge is a rich, medium olive green with warmer undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. The texture was silky-smooth to the touch but thinner, yet a little emollient, which was a more unique texture for the brand. It applied best by pressing and patting it into place as it seemed to turn almost translucent when swept on. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

I’m brand new to eyeshadow, and I’ve been looking for new palettes to experiment with. This review is great! The “Grunge” color in 1993 is calling my name. I love all of the different options that you provide for the dupes too.

Great job! You’ve got my subscription definitely.

Genevieve Avatar

I think the highlight of the palette is Grunge – a beautiful olive green shade that was actually the best rated. The rest is a disappointment and I am not sure how Seattle, the lovely blue shade, workds with olive green. The colour story here seems quite random for a 6 pan.

Staci Avatar

The nostalgic part of me wants this. The sensible part of me doesn’t see many complete looks with this pallet. I’ll probably just wait for it to be half off.

Z Avatar

This is a really ugly color story. Somehow I don’t remember the 90s being this bad? Ugly everything aside (even the packaging design against the shadows..yuck), Grunge is a pretty ass color

katie Avatar

These are inaccurate colors for the ‘90’s, especially ’93. The look was to have it without visibly trying. Did you ever see a super model work out?
If one did try then makeup was Scene. Things were goth. They were punk. This should have been a really well performing matte black, a really well performing dark, dark satin purple. A very dark satin matte grey-brown, a medium brown matte, a medium tan matte, and a deep créme brûlée satin matte.

1993, the year I graduated high school. Incredible year! Yes, I’m definitely getting this. It’s a shame though that Totally Rad is a dud, I love pink shimmers. I’m loving that gorgeous olive green though!
