Urban Decay 1993 Decades Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
1993
Urban Decay 1993 Decades Mini Eyeshadow Palette ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that contained two matte eyeshadows and four shimmery eyeshadows. The quality was decent–one shade was more of a miss–with more semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation and fairly blendable textures. It didn’t have the best longevity, and there was some fallout to contend with.

Beep Me
Beep Me is a bright, off-white with subtle, warmer undertones and a frosted finish. It had rich pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered decently to bare skin, but the texture was more powdery and thicker, so there was some unevenness that I had to smooth out using a fingertip. It lasted for eight hours before fading visibly.

The formula is typically described as "high-pigment" that "stays on your lids" and goes on "seamlessly." Their permanent range has a lot of fantastic shades in it, and many of them are pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. Some of their matte are real workhorse kind of shades with soft, smooth, silky, and blendable textures, while their shimmers and pearly shades are very rich in payoff and apply beautifully to the lid. They wear between seven and nine hours on me, depending on the shade and finish.

Seattle
LELimited Edition. $19.00.
69
69 is a medium brown with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was somewhat powdery, so there was light fallout and the more opaque coverage tended to sheer out a bit in practice. It was blendable, at least, and stayed on nicely for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Totally Rad
Totally Rad is a light-medium pink with strong, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that was hard to build up, even when applied with a fingertip. The texture was lightly emollient to the touch, thin but not powdery or dry, but it just did not have great adhesion. It wore decently for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Grunge
Grunge is a rich, medium olive green with warmer undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. The texture was silky-smooth to the touch but thinner, yet a little emollient, which was a more unique texture for the brand. It applied best by pressing and patting it into place as it seemed to turn almost translucent when swept on. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

I’m brand new to eyeshadow, and I’ve been looking for new palettes to experiment with. This review is great! The “Grunge” color in 1993 is calling my name. I love all of the different options that you provide for the dupes too.
Great job! You’ve got my subscription definitely.
I probably don’t need it, but those were some of the happiest years of my life. I was a young mom with two little ones as we hit the 90’s and went through our growing pains/joys together through that decade. So there is that. Nostalgia. Thankfully, the 4 shades I feel a pull towards are all really good.
That is so sweet! What wonderful memories. Nothing compares to the joy of raising little ones.
I love Grunge (big surprise, right?) though I have a reasonable dupe; same with 69 (I’ve got Nymeria, which I really like). The other shades don’t really thrill me.
This is the most accurate color scheme to the era, I feel. I can see this one going on discount eventually since it looks like the formula is not their best performing.
I think the highlight of the palette is Grunge – a beautiful olive green shade that was actually the best rated. The rest is a disappointment and I am not sure how Seattle, the lovely blue shade, workds with olive green. The colour story here seems quite random for a 6 pan.
The nostalgic part of me wants this. The sensible part of me doesn’t see many complete looks with this pallet. I’ll probably just wait for it to be half off.
I like this one, but disappointing that the light pink shade does not perform well. Will think about it…..
None of the palettes in this collection caught my attention at all. It’s been a while since I actually wanted an UD palette and it was the Naked Smokey.
I want this one because 1993 was an important year to me, but I’m going to wait to see if it goes on sale. :o) Thank you for the review…glad to see it did okay except for the one shade.
This is a really ugly color story. Somehow I don’t remember the 90s being this bad? Ugly everything aside (even the packaging design against the shadows..yuck), Grunge is a pretty ass color
These are inaccurate colors for the ‘90’s, especially ’93. The look was to have it without visibly trying. Did you ever see a super model work out?
If one did try then makeup was Scene. Things were goth. They were punk. This should have been a really well performing matte black, a really well performing dark, dark satin purple. A very dark satin matte grey-brown, a medium brown matte, a medium tan matte, and a deep créme brûlée satin matte.
1993, the year I graduated high school. Incredible year! Yes, I’m definitely getting this. It’s a shame though that Totally Rad is a dud, I love pink shimmers. I’m loving that gorgeous olive green though!
