Tom Ford Lilac Nymph & Virgin Rose Lip Colors Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Tom Ford Lilac Nymph (47) Lip Color
Tom Ford Lilac Nymph (47) Lip Color ($52.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, light-medium bubblegum pink with strong, blue undertones and a fine frost. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a more emollient texture that was thinner and less cream-like compared to other shades in the formula. I wish it had applied more evenly, and it also had a tendency to slip into lip lines over time. This shade lasted for four hours on me. Tom Ford Beauty Preston (LE, $36.00) is less shimmery, darker, brighter (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Dakota (LE, $36.00) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Maybelline Pink Pop (DC, $7.99) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). L'Oreal Glazed Pink (P, $9.99) is less shimmery, glossier (90% similar). MAC Naughty Saute (LE, $19.00) is cooler, glossier (90% similar). Maybelline Power Peony (720) (P, $7.49) is less shimmery, lighter, more pigmented (90% similar). MAC Divine Choice (P, $25.00) is less shimmery, lighter, more muted (90% similar). Too Faced Double Bubble (DC, $22.00) is less shimmery, lighter, glossier (90% similar). Clinique Wow Pop (P, $19.50) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Louis (DC, $36.00) is lighter (90% similar). Illamasqua Luster (P, $26.00) is brighter, more pigmented, glossier (90% similar). ColourPop BYOB (LE, $7.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). MAC Playtime (LE, $17.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Tom Ford Virgin Rose (48) Lip Color ($52.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium, rosy pink with subtle, cool undertones and a natural finish. It had good pigmentation, though not opaque, with a creamy, glide-on consistency that was comfortable to wear over a four hour period. It was, however, slightly streaky in the application and only lightly hydrating. ColourPop Fetch (LE, $7.00) is brighter (95% similar). ColourPop Sweet-Thing (LE, $7.00) is darker (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M200 (DC, $22.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Clinique Sweet Pop (P, $19.50) is darker (95% similar). Coloured Raine Charmed (P, $17.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC What a Feeling! (LE, $20.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Feeling Fizzy (LE, $19.00) is cooler (95% similar). Too Faced Razzle Dazzle Rose (DC, $22.00) is less shimmery, glossier (90% similar). ColourPop Spritz (LE, $7.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Disobedient (DC, $18.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Pretty Vulgar Baby Doll Against BS (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Bite Beauty Macaroon (P, $24.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Dolly Bird (P, $34.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (90% similar). Bite Beauty Sweety (LE, $24.00) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Big Break (P, $7.00) is less glossy (90% similar). Estee Lauder Powerful (P, $32.00) is darker (95% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. FORMULA OVERVIEW | Tom Ford Lip Color ($35.00 for 0.07 oz.) is supposed to be hydrating, pigmented, and have a more luminous finish (there is also a specifically Matte formula available that is much flatter in finish). In general, the formula is semi-opaque to opaque with a lightly creamy consistency that doesn’t slide around a lot but doesn’t cling to the lips. I get anywhere from three to six hours of wear out of them, and most shades are lightly hydrating over time. The formula is vanilla-scented with no discernible taste.

Lilac Nymph is such a beautiful almost-pink. I really like it. Virgin Rose is really pretty, too. I’d go with dupes, though. It looks like both shades have some good budget options for dupes.
I love that we live in a world that has more and more dupes at all price points!
These colors are very pretty, Virgin Rose looks great for spring, but unfortunately, not for me. Pink is a really tricky lip color for me. I can do some pinks (brown, berry, purple) but the blue, pastel, and coral ones look terrible on me 🙁 But on the plus side, I can rock a lot of purples
Pastel pink and I also do not get along! I find that I have to be very specific with the rest of my look to make one workable.
Yeah light pinks that are blue toned are sooooo hard to wear. Like Saint Germaine by MAC. Its one of those things where I can see others wear them but I cant do it because it Just. Looks. Wrong. So I just use them to mix with other lipsticks.
These are both perfect. I love Virgin Rose on you.
Thanks, Kimberly! 🙂
Back when I wore my hair with lots of lt. honey blonde hi-lights and a spiral perm, that first type of shade was something I wore quite often. But I wouldn’t do that shade today.
Virgin Rose is another story! But because it is so easily dupable, I would pro.bably try the one by EL, Powerful, instead.
Powerful is a good one!
Both very pretty, but the grade needs to be A for me to buy TF lipsticks, not that I have bought any yet, but I will, next year, after all the craziness of Christmas have come and gone. I think it will be Malik.
I had a sort of deja vu when I first saw Lilac Nymph, now I have to try to remember who wore such a shade a very long time ago. (During the later 80s.)
I hear you, Helene! They should be perfect for the price you pay on these. Or else really unique or something 🙂
Both are pretty. But, at this price point, I look for an A from you. I like Virgin Rose a lot. But, I think Bobbi Brown Posh Pink would be a tough competitor for me.
I agree — they should be As! There are some TF shades I love, but there are other formulas I prefer in general/for consistency.
I hear ya! He has some gorgeous shades! I got my Lips and Boys orders yesterday . Now I know why Starvros was so popular during the first round!
I love the formulation of TF lipsticks, but most of them except the very dark ones seem to have a lot of white in them. To me, they look chalky. Wish they didn’t but they just not what I’m looking for. Wish Guerlain would come out with many more Rouge G colors. What are they waiting for?
I always worry Guerlain is on the verge of discontinuing Rouge Gs, because the range is always shrinking, never expanding.
#48 is nice, I’m not sure it’s for me but it’s very pretty.
It is pretty!
I have Virgin Rose and I love it!! Tried on Lilac Nymph but it didn’t look good on me.
Virgin Rose looks very cute! Such a girly, happy pink!
Christine, how similar is Vigin Rose to MAC’s Nouvelle Vouge? I’ve seen the swatch comparison, but it’s always best to get your direct opinion, as you’ve seen both lipsticks in person 🙂 I like VR a lot, but I already got NV and I’m not sure if the difference is big enough for me to have both lipsticks.
I think Virgin Rose is brighter and cooler-toned – it is also sheerer and has more of a slight pearl to it in a way. I don’t think you HAVE to have both, though!
