Sydney Grace Eyeshadows Reviews & Swatches ("A Rose Gold & Mauve Look")
Chocolate Bar
Sydney Grace Chocolate Bar Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a deep, chocolaty brown with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that wasn’t too firmly nor too softly pressed in the pan. The color applied evenly and blended out with ease along the edges. It wore well for eight hours before fading slightly on me.

Formula Overview

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.
Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn't have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Genie in a Bottle
Sydney Grace Genie in a Bottle Shimmer Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, deep gold with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The color coverage was opaque in a single layer, while the texture was soft, lightly powdery and had some fallout during application. Thankfully, it still applied well with a smooth, even lay down of color that blended out with ease (you’ll just want to use a primer or do your eyes prior to base products!). It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Sydney Grace Hot Chocolate Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, medium brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren't opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn't so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I've found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

Save the Dance
Sydney Grace Save the Dance Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a bright, coppery plum with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It appeared more plum-like in the pan and more copper-like when swatched and applied. The texture felt more emollient with noticeable slip, so it felt creamier but also softer, more loosely-pressed in the pan. As a result, it had some fallout if I wasn’t careful to place and pat it onto my skin. It stayed on well for eight hours before creasing faintly on me.

Spring Fling
Sydney Grace Spring Fling Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light pink with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had good pigmentation with a denser, firmer texture that felt thinner than most shades in the range. There was a dryness present that I wouldn’t normally associate with the brand’s formula. It applied without difficulty, though, with even coverage and was easy to blend out. It showed signs of fading after seven and a half hours of wear.

Oooooh, nice!
Beautiful autumn shades, with lots of shades to work with all the greens that this brand puts out. A really versatile set of colours and a gorgeous eye look Christine.
Thank you, Genevieve 🙂
As one would come to expect due to Sydney Grace e/s formula being utterly superior in quality (and shade rang) plus your own excellent skills, the eye look you got out of these is beautiful! As for this set of shades, I didn’t spot anything I need any time soon, but good to know that these exist in the off chance I hit pan on any of the dupes.
Thank you so much, Nancy!
This range a little more dupeable for me so my SG grabs haven’t included any of these. Love your look!
I must admit, even though neutrals have their place and I enjoy them, I was most attracted to all the more unusual pops of color and greens, in the SG range!
Right?, we all have those in spades so SG is fantastic for offering shades you don’t see elsewhere. The palette I have built is not cohensive, but fills in a gap in my stash. ?
That Chocolate Bar shade tho! Omg beautiful!
I am waiting 2 months already for my Sydney Grace order to arrive in The Netherlands…
I can’t wait to try the eyeshadows myself, your looks and reviews got me so excited I ordered 21… hahahaha
Some lovely shades here. Stila used to have a shadow single called Puppy that was very similar to the colour of this one – a nice, neutral light brown/taupe. It’s still in one of their palettes but it’s a shame they d/c’d their wonderful singles….
Christine, I’ve been meaning to say how much I’ve been enjoying your Sydney Grace posts after finally falling for single eyeshadows this year. I’m getting greedy now but have you any plans to review more Nabla? (or Devinah or Looxi?)
I don’t have any plans for a particular single range at this time as I’m behind on palettes!
I suspected as much, never mind!
