Chase Your Dreams

Sydney Grace Chase Your Dreams 9-Pan Eyeshadow Palette ($33.00 for 0.54 oz.) is a new eyeshadow palette that included three matte shades and six shimmery shades. Eight of the nine shades were fantastic; pigmented, beautifully textured, easy to work with, and long-wearing. The mattes seemed silkier than usual (which is saying something) and “melted” seamlessly onto my skin.

One shade, The Chase, had a bit more slip to it than ideal, and it was harder to get perfectly even application with a dry brush (better with a dampened brush or fingertip); I had no trouble using a pencil or smaller, denser brush dry for application, though, so obviously very workable. When the lowest-rated shade in a palette comes out to 91%… it’s a good sign.

The Dream

The Dream is a bright, rich gold with moderate, warm undertones and an intense, metallic finish. The color coverage was opaque in a single layer, which adhered well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product that blended out well along the edges.

The consistency was soft, lightly creamy, and dense without being overly thick or too firmly-pressed into the pan. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview

$6.25/0.06 oz. - $104.17 Per Ounce

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.

Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn't have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Aspire

Aspire is a bright, medium-dark coral-red with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, creamy consistency that was dense without being too thick nor was it too firmly-pressed into the pan. It applied evenly and blended out with ease. This shade stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading slightly.

Be Bold

Be Bold is a rich, rusty orange with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency felt soft, smooth, and almost cream-like to the touch–it seemed silkier than some of the other brand’s matte eyeshadows I’ve tried, and there was almost no powderiness in the pan.

It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly and blended out well along the edges without losing its intensity. The product lasted well for nine hours before showing signs of fading.

Formula Overview

$5.25/0.06 oz. - $87.50 Per Ounce

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren't opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn't so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I've found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

The Chase

The Chase is a medium-dark, coppery-red with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was more emollient, slightly thinner and had some more slip, than other shades in the palette.

It applied best by patting and gently pressing into place, then blending the edges. It had rich pigmentation in a single layer that wore nicely for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

You Can

You Can is a dusty, medium-dark copper-red with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had very fine, almost imperceptible (at least, to my eye in person), micro-shimmer but appeared matte in practice.

It had opaque pigmentation paired with a soft, velvety texture that was silky-smooth without being powdery. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Don't Quit

Don’t Quit is a brighter, medium-dark purple-berry with subtle, warmer pink undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. It was less metallic than most of the brand’s shimmers but higher-sheen than true satin.

It had a moderately dense consistency that was smooth and slightly firmer to the touch. The color coverage was opaque in a single layer, which lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before showing signs of wear.

The Drive

The Drive is a rich, medium-dark purple with subtle, warm pink undertones and a lightly, metallic finish. It reminded me of grape jelly for some reason–almost a bit berry-like in the undertone, I suppose.

The eyeshadow had a smooth, slightly denser consistency that was more firmly-pressed into the pan but not to the point that it became difficult to pick up or to blend out on my lid. This shade wore well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Your Best

Your Best is a deep, plummy-taupe with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The color payoff was opaque in a single pass, which adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out readily along the edges without losing its intensity.

The consistency felt smooth, lightly creamy, and dense but not overly thick, so it was still easy to pick up with a dry brush. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Enjoy the Journey

Enjoy the Journey is a deep black with subtle, cool undertones and a barely-there dusting of micro-shimmer in an otherwise, matte finish. It appeared matte in practice but blended out beautifully (which seems to be the purpose behind the most minimal inclusion of fine shimmer!).

The consistency felt silky and smooth without being powdery, and it was easy to pick up with a brush. It had rich color payoff that adhered well to bare skin and lasted nicely for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

I've found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Yay! I was hoping you would review this one. Love the look you came up with! So on-point summery.

Not gonna lie, I am totally fan-girling over this. Cannot wait to get my hands on this palette.

Absolutely stunning – a wide variety of shades, all of excellent value. The Your Best shade of plummy taupe is the one that I thought should have been included in the ND Mini Pan of yesterday – it would have suited the colour story better I think.
Anyway, this is a fabulous palette for any season.

96% is completely impressive for a shadow palette!! Gosh. Not sure if I should just try to get this the first day or a mystery bundle the second day.

Fantastic! This still reminds me of the Viseart Dark Edit, but when I compared the two using your tool, there weren’t many dupes. Still, the lI’m wondering if the two might work well together, as I think this has more shimmers, redder shades, and darker shades for deepening my crease. Two of the shimmers ARE dupes, though. Decisions, decisions…

What a beautifully curated palette! I know sunset palettes are nothing really new, but I’ve held off on getting one because I know it’s a color story that really appeals to me, and I want to make sure I get one where it’s done well (as opposed to impulse-buying sunset palettes just because I like the colors, y’know?). This might be The One.

Even better, a lot of the Black instagrammers I follow have gotten this palette as a gift from SG, and they’ve been really happy with it! SG didn’t come out with two different versions of this palette, but it seems that they didn’t even need to because the shades work on such a variety of skintones. Everything about this palette is so exciting to me!
