Sephora Stone, T-Rex, Waterfall Contour Eye Pencils Reviews & Swatches
Stone
Sephora Stone Contour Eye Pencil ($10.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a deep gray with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had a smooth, waxy consistency that gave it a touch of creaminess without any wet-feel. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, which was easy to apply as it never tugged or dragged on my lower lash line. This shade lasted well for 10 hours on me before it started to thin slightly.

Formula Overview
$10.00/0.04 oz. - $250.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "pigmented" with "one stroke" application that is "waterproof" and lasts for "12 hours." I've been a long-time fan of the formula for its variety of shades that are typically pigmented, long-wearing, comfortable to apply, and easy to work with--they aren't too tough to remove nor do they take too long (or dry down too quickly) to dry. The matte shades tend to be the best, while the shimmery shades are good but can be semi-opaque at times. The glittery/sparkly shades have the most inconsistency, usually with respect to pigmentation. They tend to wear around 10 hours on me.

T-Rex
Sephora T-Rex Contour Eye Pencil ($10.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark green with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The color coverage was nearly opaque in a single layer, and it was easily built up to opaque coverage applied in shorter, slightly overlapping strokes or with a second layer. The eyeliner was incredibly smooth, lightly creamy, and comfortable to apply across the water line and lower lash line. It wore beautifully for 10 and a half hours on me.

Waterfall
Sephora Waterfall Contour Eye Pencil ($10.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a dark, bluish-teal with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. The pigmentation was good, just shy of opaque coverage, and was easily built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer on top. The texture was lightly creamy, smooth, and easy to apply in a fluild layer as it never dragged or tugged. It stayed on well for 10 and a half hours on me.

As much as I’m ticked as heck at them discontinuing so many of my (and many others’ favourites), I am glad that these 3 scored so well. I was wanting to get T-Rex but hadn’t made it to the store to see it for myself (only at Sephora’s less than ideal site) but now, I will pick up Waterfall as well. It’s amazing to see these pencils kicking the butts of pencils costing more than twice as much!
I agree Mariella, it’s always great to find great quality at a lower price point. I like all three of these pencils
My T-Rex arrives tomorrow! Along with a couple Fairytales, too. So, my need for green will be all stocked up for a good little while. ???
I am thrilled to see T-Rex and Waterfall get the coveted “Temptalia Recommended” seal of approval!
Ooooh, these look lovely!
I LOVE T-Rex 🙂
These are absolutely stunning! Love T Rex and Waterfall. Such great value and wonderful ratings.
I love the shades Stone & T-Rex but I’m reluctant to buy them. I have six of the Sephora eyeliners (Cocoa, Flirting Game, Cookie Crunch, Snakeskin Dress, Love Affair, Go For a Ride) and while the colours are gorgeous, apply like a dream and don’t smudge, they don’t last on my upper lash line more than 4 hours, particularly on the last portion of my upper lash line (I apply them on top of the eyeshadows). Unfortunately the colour disappears into the skin and I don’t have oily lids nor do I have hooded eyes. If I apply them on my lower lash line (very rarely), the staying power is a lot longer. That’s the reason why I switched for the MJ Highliners which stay for a solid period of 10 hours.
Oh wow I LOVE T-Rex! Too bad Go for a Ride was discontinued.
I just picked up both T Rex and Waterfall and what stunners they are. The SA was also lamenting Fairytale, Good Mood and Go for a Ride being discontinued. When I swatched T Rex (still looking at it, even after going to the gym) on the back of my hand, my swatch looked a lot brighter and more glowy (it’s still olive but somehow “bright”) than your swatches, Christine. I think with this one, it’s a case of it being even prettier in real life.
Happy to hear that it’s even prettier in person! 🙂
I was actually expecting it to be a lot like Snakeskin Dress (which they d/c’d 2 or more years ago) but it’s different. It really is a gorgeous shade. And Waterfall – holy moly! And because these are shimmers rather than glitters, they are waterline safe (the glitter pencils carry the warning, in really, REEEEAAALY tiny letters, that they’re not safe on the waterline or words to that effect).
Sephora’s eyeliners are so good and inexpensive it’s hard to not purchase one every time I’m in there. I use them every day and prefer them to most other brands (Marc Jacobs aside).
You know what’s funny is that even though MJB’s Highliners last longer on me, sometimes they’re annoying to remove compared to other eyeliners (like UD or Sephora) so I end up reaching for all three brands interchangeably since I’m not bothered by a lack of 14 hour + wear.
While we’re talking about these pencils, what’s the best sharpener to use with them? Mine just isn’t working.
I use UD Grindhouse!
