Nude Illuminator (020)

Revlon Nude Illuminator (020) Super Lustrous Melting Glass Shine Lipstick ($9.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a muted, light-medium coral with moderate, warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had good color coverage in a single layer, though it wasn’t opaque and couldn’t be built up to full coverage either.

The texture was smooth, moderately emollient, and felt like it melted against the warmth of my lips during application, so I’d recommend being more aware of that and applying just one layer as it skated so readily across my lips otherwise. The slip dissipated slightly after the first minute of wear, though it remained emollient and glossy. There was a bit of product that sank into my lip lines, which was more noticeable on my upper lip (the horizontal lines). It wore well for three hours and felt moisturizing over time.

Formula Overview

$9.99/0.15 oz. - $66.60 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have "brilliant color with major payoff" with an "amazingly buttery feel that instantly melts onto your lips for glass-like shine." The coverage was more medium to semi-opaque, often buildable to a minor degree, so I don't know that I'd call it "major payoff," the coverage was noticeable and allowed for real differentiation from shade to shade as they weren't so sheer that they ran together.

The consistency has an incredibly creamy, smooth feel that definitely melts on the lips but seems to "set" subtly, which seemed to tamp down the slip slightly, though it was still moderately emollient on my lips. I'd recommend being more conscious of using one layer or so as it can be easy to over-apply due to how much it feels like it's melting against one's lips.

The finish was definitely glass-like; very shiny and gave the illusion of volume to my lips. I found that there was some color that settled into lip lines or caught on minor imperfections with some shades, though the shine made it harder to notice in person. I imagine if you like grab-and-go color that's glossy with medium coverage or greater color that's easy to apply and re-apply, this formula could be a match.

The formula had a subtle, sweet vanilla scent but no discernible taste. The biggest "con" to the formula was the packaging, which was industrially-wrapped with a very tacky sticker that was not just difficult to remove to open the lipstick to begin with but difficult to get all of the tackiness off. I'd recommend using a sharp knife/blade (safely!) to cut across the sticker, then twist the cap off rather than removing the sticker at all.

So Sleek Pink (021)

Revlon So Sleek Pink (021) Super Lustrous Melting Glass Shine Lipstick ($9.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a light pink with strong, warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish with some pearl. The color payoff was medium to semi-opaque in one layer, so it definitely didn’t live up to the pigmentation claims of the formula, though that might not be a deal-breaker for everyone.

The lipstick had a lightweight, very creamy consistency that felt smooth and as if it melted when applied to my lips, and I feared the slip would make it harder to wear, but it seemed to “set” slightly and wasn’t quite as emollient after a minute or so of wear. There was a bit of product that seemed to sit in my deeper lip lines, but it wasn’t noticeable in person. This shade lasted well for three hours and felt hydrating over time.

Fuchsia Gleam (022)

Revlon Fuchsia Gleam (022) Super Lustrous Melting Glass Shine Lipstick ($9.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and faint, iridescent pearl paired with a lightly glossy, cream finish. It had less shine compared to most shades in the range. The texture was smooth, lightweight, and creamy and felt like the product melted against my lips as I applied it, though it lessened after a minute or so of wear and felt less slippery as a result.

It had medium to semi-opaque color payoff that applied fairly evenly, but there was a touch of product that sank into my deeper lip lines, though it didn’t seem to be enough to be noticeable in person. It stayed on nicely for four hours and felt moisturizing while worn.

If I didn’t already have Bobby Brown’s Juicy Date, I would so be on Nude Illuminator! These are just my types of nude or neutral shades, especially with a smokey or convoluted eye look.
Fuchsia Gleam is gorgeous on you, but could give my skin a bit of a green cast, I fear.

I like them all, especially Nude Illuminator, but I’m not buying anymore lipstick because I have nowhere to wear it. When I go out, I wear a mask, so I only do eye makeup nowadays.
