Rare Beauty Transform & Daring Lip Souffles Reviews & Swatches
Transform
Rare Beauty Transform Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a deep, rich red with subtle, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage, which was a surprise since it was supposed to have higher coverage and was a red hue, and those tend to be the most pigmented (when they exist in a range).
The texture felt a little thinner, and it seemed more prone to separating slightly along my lip lines, which made the appear more pronounced (“shriveled” but not as bad as that distinction). The formula still had that more velvety glide to it that felt airy and very lightweight, and while it looked matter within a few minutes from the initial application, it remained flexible and comfortable to wear. It wore well for seven hours but felt a bit drying over time.

Formula Overview
$20.00/0.13 oz. - $153.85 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be an "air-whipped lip cream" with "rich, melted-in color" paired with "nourishing hydration." It's a liquid lipstick with a more velvety consistency and satin to matte finish--some shades seemed to turn matte very quickly while others were a bit denser and creamier.
It has a lot of silicones in it, which gives it slip and glide but not in the typical way a liquid lipstick might feel; it has a lighter-weight feel and a slight powderiness to it. If you're familiar with silicone-based primers, it has a similar glide to it. The fomrula felt "air-whipped" as it was lighter-weight, mousse-like, and had softer edges as it was applied with most shades.
Most of the shades were opaque in a single layer, and I did not have any issues with the applicator over-applying product. It seemed like it was enough product for full coverage, but if one wanted more of a blotted, diffused matte look (which is often how this type of mousse-like formula is used for), it felt very doable without having to wipe off product.
The majority of the shades applied evenly, didn't crack or emphasize my lip lines, and lasted anywhere from four to eight hours (some left a stain). They were more neither hydrating nor drying to me over time. They had a faint, beachy floral scent but didn't seem to have a taste as the lip balm formula did.

Daring
Rare Beauty Daring Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark lavender with subtle, warmer pink undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer of product, but this was one shade that seemed harder to apply evenly and to keep in place as it lifted away slightly every time my lips touched!
The liquid lipstick had a smooth, lightweight consistency that seemed a touch thinner than other shades, though it was still more of a velvety (almost powdery but with glide!) kind of feel that felt flexible as it sat on my lips. I also didn’t have any issues with it emphasizing imperfections in texture, though this shade seemed to show my lip lines a bit more than others in the range. It lasted decently for four and a half hours but faded unevenly from the center and felt neither drying nor hydrating over time.

The red color is gorgeous and you look so lovely in it!
With so many just about perfect shades in this line, these two just aren’t doing it for me. If I want a sheerer red, I would want it to be glossier or more luminous than Transform. And that lavender shade would definitely make me look frozen corpse-like!
Agreed! Every time I see a lavender shade released I have to wonder who buys and wears them?
I see a lot of younger people wear this color and love how it looks on other people (and not me!). I usually see it worn by people with either quite pale or quite deep skin colors, since it makes a bold contrast. I have really warm undertones and have come to terms with the fact that me and these purple lip colors don’t get along in a way I like.
Transform is a lovely shade, so it’s a shame that there were some formula issues.
I have the red and I LOVE it. I didn’t have any of the issues you did so it works for me ? it’s long lasting and is the perfect red for my cool, pink undertone, porcelain skin.
