Pat McGrath Astral Flash Dance, Astral Moonflower, Belladonna LUST Lip Glosses Reviews & Swatches
Astral Flash Dance
Pat McGrath Astral Flash Dance LUST Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium, rosy pink with subtle, warm undertones and cooler, blue and violet sparkle. It had semi-sheer to medium color coverage (and it’s intended to be “medium”) with a light level of shimmer/sparkle. The consistency was smooth, plush, and more gel-like while still feeling lightweight and non-sticky. It applied evenly and filled in most of my lip lines. The gloss lasted well for four hours and was moisturizing over time.

Formula Overview
$30.00/0.15 oz. - $200.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "multidimensional shine" with a "non-sticky texture" that "nourishes" with "exceptional adherence." The opacity ranges from "opaque to transparent." The color coverage really does vary quite a bit, but most of the shades I've tried are sheer to medium in coverage--the brand could be clearer on which shades are opaque.
The consistency has a smooth, lightweight texture that wasn't tacky and was comfortable to wear. For the most part, they didn't seem to sink into my lip lines, which can be a pitfall of gloss. I didn't find the wear time to be better than average--three to four hours--but the formula was moderately hydrating. There was a subtle vanilla scent but no discernible taste when worn.

Astral Moon Flower
Pat McGrath Astral Moon Flower LUST Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) seemed to have a translucent, blue-tinted base with flecks of blue, violet, and green sparkle. It had a semi-sheer to medium amount of “coverage” in the form of shimmer/sparkle, while the base seemed to darken my natural lip color a bit and softening the appearance of my lip freckle slightly. It was supposed to be “medium” in coverage, but I’d say it was more of a sheer to semi-sheer gloss–a sheer, tinting gloss really. The consistency was lightweight, smooth, and cushion-like in feel that was comfortable to wear. It smoothed out the appearance of my lip lines, kept my lips hydrated, and lasted for three hours on me.

Belladonna
Pat McGrath Belladonna LUST Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a light-medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and faint gold and pink pearl in a more cream-like finish. It had medium color payoff, which was as described, that applied fairly evenly but did sink into some of my lip lines. It did not seem as noticeable from a normal viewing distance due to the high-shine finish along with how it was closer to my natural lip color (pinkish!). It wore well for four hours and was hydrating while worn.

I like how gel-like these look
PMG’s glosses really do particularly well at bringing the shine!
Love the look of Astral Flashdance and will probably pick it up when I am in Seattle in about a month.
Hey, if you’re ever in Seattle for fun and want to meet up, let me know. Or if you ever come into Oregon. I’d love to meet you in person some time. 🙂
I will Rachel. Sounds like fun. I will let you know when I am coming. For sure I am going to be there in July as I am seeing Queen at the Tacoma Dome on July 12th. I have a trip planned in April but not firm on that yet. Look forward to meeting you.
Sounds good! Lucky you, getting to see Queen. On the 11th of July we’re seeing Eddie Izzard, so I probably couldn’t be to Seattle in time for the 12th. April sounds promising.
Great, I will let you know as my plans firm up.
Astral Moon Flower is perfect for adding a little teeth whitening effect to my older teeth that are in the head of a coffee and tea addict! An added plus is that it just looks beautiful and fresh.
I also love how Astral Flash Dance looks, as well!
Astral Moon Flower intrigued me at first glance, so I’m happy to see how it looks on you. I may pick this up in the future.
Astral Flash Dance and Astral Moon Flower are both beautiful. The consistency looks and sounds so nice. Very, very tempting.
I just got Astral Moonflower and love it! I was so, so sad when Lancôme discontinued their blue gloss. Blue gloss on me deepensmy lip color in such a natural way. I spent years looking and hoping for a replacement. And this came out. I love her formula and it’s a splurge for a gloss but oh so worth it. You can’t see blue since it’s not opaque. It also helps temper lipsticks that pull orange on me.
I’m wearing one now and it has kept my lips soft for hours while drinking coffee. It’s amazing how these really moisturize.
These sparkly clearer glosses don’t really have a difference at the end of the day. So one or two of the glittery ones is all you need. I like using lip, infer for color with a subtley sparkly gloss topper. UD had a great one on the tube that they discontinued…something of the Cowboy line that was great.
Glosses are so personal too. Some like the sticky and some like them watery. I think all can appreciate the gel feel Christine so adequately described.
I definitely agree — you can only have so many different sheer, sparkly glosses! They can get redundant quickly!
