Nude

Natasha Denona Nude Mini Eyeshadow Palette ($25.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a new, permanent palette that features five neutrals with three shimmers and two mattes. I think that the quality within this palette shows what happens with Natasha Denona hits those high notes–the mattes are easy to work with and to blend out, while the shimmers are intense and reflective as I feel the brand is known for. The only shade I had any trouble with was Sienna (50DC), which was more loosely-pressed and needed to be patted on (or used with a dampened brush) to avoid fallout during application. All five worked well together to create a cohesive look and could be easily used in duos and trios for at least a few looks.

Bronzage (120M)

Bronzage (120M) is a rich, medium copper with stronger, warm undertones and strong, metallic finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, softly-pressed texture–not loose but not quite dense to the point where it felt like a cream eyeshadow. The eyeshadow applied evenly to my lid, seemed to “melt” slightly to give it a smoother look after a few minutes of wear, and was blendable. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before showing signs of wear. It is very similar in color to Bronzage (124K), which has a Crystal finish, but the metallic formula gives Bronzage more depth, better payoff, and a smoother application overall.

Formula Overview

$29.00/0.08 oz. - $362.50 Per Ounce

The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.

The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.

Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Quoin (211CM)

Quoin (211CM) is a muted, medium orange with warm, brownish undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to my skin and diffused easily along the edges for a very seamless blend. The texture felt soft and velvety without being powdery to work with. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Lumino (212M)

Lumino (212M) is a bright, light beige with soft, peachy undertones and a metallic sheen. It was very shiny and reflective, definitely an easy shade to use on the center of the lid for a halo effect or on the inner corner to brighten. The consistency felt soft, smooth, and denser without being heavy or too thick in the pan, so I was able to pick up product easily with brushes and still get opaque, even coverage. It lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Sienna (50DC)

Sienna (50DC) is a medium bronze with warm, reddish undertones and lighter, golden sparkle and finer shimmer that seemed to twinkle green and gold (not so much a shift, though). The texture was incredibly soft, almost like it was loosely pressed in the pan, which did result in some fallout during application, so I’d recommend using pressing and patting motions to get it into place before blending out the edges to minimize potential for fallout (or use it with a dampened brush). It had opaque pigmentation that wore well for eight and a half hours on me, and I didn’t notice additional fallout while worn.

Soil (213CM)

Soil (213CM) is a dark, reddened brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a smooth, slightly thinner texture (compared to most of the recent Creamy Matte shades). The eyeshadow applied evenly and blended out with little effort, though, so I think having it build up ended up making it easier to use overall. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before starting to fade noticeably on me.

This is a really pretty palette, pretty boring if you have a lot of makeup, but I see why it was added to the lineup. It’s a good, travel size or everyday palette. If I didn’t already have so many shades that are similar to this, I would definitely be interested in purchasing it.

Nancy T Avatar

This one is so very perfect for a quick, somewhat easy neutral eye look! I personally love it! However…..

Another incident that has me questioning my sanity this lovely afternoon is that I HAD this beautiful little quint in my cart when I ordered Fenty Fussy and ND new cheek mini! I believe I took it out at the very last second….but, WHY?

Jonna Avatar

I really wish I’d read this before I ordered one, colors are pretty big waaayyy to orange for me.
They looked more cool on the Sephora website. Guess these are a return waiting to happen

Genevieve Avatar

Another pretty good offering from ND – bright, beautiful shades and shades from other palettes can be used to add a pop of colour. The only issue is that lots of these shades are popular at the moment and I don’t know whether it would be worth purchasing this.
Gorgeous eye look Christine.

Christine, I think you own some Sonia G brushes? Try using her Builder One brush to apply Sienna. Shimmy the tip of the brush across the pan (a la Michele Wang) and you can actually see the shadow working its way up through the brush hairs. You can pat the shadow on the lid or swipe it across, and it should apply nicely.
I used my Mini Nude Palette twice so far, and after applying Sienna with my Builder One brush, I had no problem with it sticking to my lid (no fallout either!).

We try to approve comments within 24 hours (and reply to them within 72 hours) but can sometimes get behind and appreciate your patience! 🙂 If you have general feedback, product review requests, off-topic questions, or need technical support, please contact us directly. Thank you for your patience!
