NARS Thousand Worlds Lip & Nail Set
NARS Thousand Worlds Lip & Nail Set

NARS Thousand Worlds Lip & Nail Set ($49.00 for 0.66 oz.) includes two miniature sized Audacious Lipsticks (both brand new shades) and two miniature sized Nail Polishes (also new shades). I’m so bummed about this set, because both polishes were problematic and lacking (and for high-end polish, it really should perform, given how many excellent options exist at lower price points), while the Audacious Lipsticks were fantastic–and new shades at that! This was one of the few sets that had more distinctive packaging, too, and it had a frosted plastic clamshell with a staggered edge that opened to reveal the products.

Value

  • Audacious Lipstick: $32.00 for 0.14 oz. or $228.57/oz.
  • Nail Polish: $20.00 for 0.50 fl. oz. or $40.00/oz.
  • Set Contains: $36.57 worth of Audacious Lipstick, $20.00 worth of Nail Polish
  • Total Value: $56.57

Codie is a muted, medium-dark orange-red with warm, rusty undertones and a creamy finish. It had rich, opaque color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly. The texture was light-to-medium in weight but didn’t slide around easily, so it lasted for five and a half hours. The formula felt lightly hydrating to me. NARS Delphine (LE, $34.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (95% similar). Hourglass At Night (P, $34.00) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). NARS Mysterious Red (P, $27.00) is brighter, less glossy (95% similar). Make Up For Ever C406 (DC, $22.00) is darker (95% similar). NARS Golshan (P, $25.00) is darker (95% similar). Milani I Am Motivated (P, $6.99) is darker (90% similar). ColourPop Lion Dance (LE, $7.00) is cooler, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Retro Rouge (LE, $18.00) is darker, warmer, less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Snow White (LE, $10.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Spice It Up (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, less pigmented, cooler (90% similar). NARS Rouge Indiscret (LE, $28.00) is darker, brighter (90% similar). NARS Shanghai Express (P, $26.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). NARS Just Push Play (P, $26.00) is brighter, less glossy (90% similar). Lisa Eldridge Velvet Jazz (LE, $36.00) is darker (90% similar). ColourPop Liquid Courage (P, $10.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Lost (P, $7.00) is warmer, less glossy (95% similar). YSL Cacao Bounce (2) (LE, $38.00) is more shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (90% similar). Eva is a deep, reddish burgundy with neutral-to-cool undertones and a glossy, creamy finish. The texture had more slip than Codie, but it didn’t lose its intensity, as it was very nearly opaque on me. The color applied with smooth, even coverage that sat well on the lips. I didn’t experience feathering with this shade, but it was more emollient than the majority of the Audacious range. It lasted for six and a half hours, and it left behind a stain. The formula was moisturizing over time. Chanel Blast (146) (P, $45.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Bite Beauty Mistletoe (LE, $26.00) is darker (95% similar). NARS Charlotte (P, $34.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Tarte Jetset (LE, $21.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Miss Scarlet (208) (P, $30.00) is warmer (90% similar). Bite Beauty Black Cherry (LE, $24.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Blow (210) (P, $30.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Such Flare (LE, $19.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Chanel Rouge Noble (857) (LE, $45.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). NARS Infatuated Red (P, $27.00) is lighter, warmer, less glossy (85% similar). ColourPop Wig (LE, $7.00) is lighter, cooler, less glossy (85% similar). NARS Shirley (P, $34.00) is lighter, warmer, less glossy (85% similar). ColourPop Scrunchie (P, $8.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Chanel Experimente (154) (P, $45.00) is lighter, less glossy (85% similar). ColourPop Avenue (DC, $6.50) is lighter, less glossy (85% similar). NARS Mascate (P, $28.00) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). MAC Perfect Score (LE, $19.00) is lighter, less glossy (85% similar). Besame Cherry Red 1935 (PiP, $22.00) is lighter, less glossy (80% similar). NARS Golshan (P, $25.00) is lighter (80% similar). Bite Beauty Red Velvet (DC, $24.00) is lighter, less glossy (80% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

La Dame En Blanc is a light-medium beige with neutral-to-warm undertones and a cream finish. The consistency was thicker, but it also seemed runny and prone to pooling along the edges. It took longer to dry down, and I really felt like I had to keep my hand totally flat against a table to help the polish dry more evenly (something that I don’t typically find myself doing). It had mostly opaque coverage after two coats, but there was a bit of noticeable streaky. I typically get a week of wear out of NARS’ formula. Chanel Frenzy (P, $28.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Sebastian (P, $10.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Endless Night (LE, $16.00) is cooler (90% similar). YSL Beige Gallerie (39) (LE, $28.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Quiet Time (P, $12.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Coffee Break (P, $12.00) is darker (80% similar). Zoya Farah (P, $9.00) is cooler (95% similar). Essie Sand Tropez (LE, $8.00) is cooler (90% similar). Zoya Cho (P, $9.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Sandpiper (LE, $16.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

La Dame En Noir is a medium-dark reddish burgundy with cooler undertones and a jelly-like finish, though it was lacking the gel-like quality of a true jelly. It had more of the translucency and shine of a jelly polish to me. The formula was thin, watery, and prone to streaking, which was especially noticeable on the first layer. I expected the second layer to help smooth and even out the finished result, but it did not help entirely–there were areas with more coverage and areas that looked sheerer. It had semi-opaque coverage after two layers. Butter London Blowing Raspberries (P, $15.00) is lighter, cooler, better quality (95% similar). MAC Underfire (LE, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Mrs. Mia Wallace (LE, $15.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Get Noticed (LE, $16.00) is warmer (90% similar). China Glaze Winter Berry (LE, $7.50) is warmer (90% similar). The packaging looks very nice and creative but I’d have liked this better if maybe one of the lipstick were full size. I think it would have gave the negatives in the nail polish a pass but with the polish performing so low not even the packaging and performance of the lipsticks can make this a worthy purchase.

Too bad about the polishes, but you gave us fair warning. Codie is another overduped shade for me. Even Eva violates my two dupe rule. But the lip shades are perm, right? Just in case my stash catches fire!

This kind of breaks my heart because at first I thought the lipsticks were sold separately and I was so psyched to buy Codie. I’m not a nail person so I wouldn’t have bought this even it was A++. Oh well, I see that good dupe in the MUFE line.

That’s too bad about the nail polish (I own three of the NARS colors and all of them are fantastic), especially since the lipstick shades look gorgeous! I’ve been looking for a good orange-red and am partial to the Audacious line….I’m *almost* tempted to get this just for the two lipstick shades.

First off, those NPs are a disaster. Which is surprising, cause NARS usually has great polishes.

Those lipsticks are TDF. I love them both. I’m surprised by Codie because it seems to have an almost imperceptible pink pearl particle in it which makes it a lot easier to wear for someone cooler in tone. I hope these get released full size cause both are amazing.

That’s too bad about the nail polishes. I was interested in this set. Totally agree the polishes should perform better at this price, especially when the shades aren’t even that unique. The red looks like a beautiful colour if only it performed better. Love the lippies though!

Bummer that the nail polishes are streaky! Especially when they’re such nice colors! This is the kind of thing that make me believe that companies don’t always put their best efforts into LE products.

I really like Eva, but Mistletoe is already on my wish list and I already have Golshan, so I can let this pass by without any regrets, although I love the Audacious formula. I love Bite’s new formula, too.
